      I believe that there are some oils that are lighter and penetrate better and some that are heavier and best for sealing. Using a sealing oil first is what the problem would be. If you use a light weight absorbing oil then the cream should still be able to absorb as well.

    When I first went natural 8 years ago I watched videos from the science of black hair and she basically talk about the LCO method before it was a method. It made sense. You lock in moisture with oil because it's a sealant. When I started to hear about the LOC method I tried it. It didn't work for me. The LCO method not only scientifically makes sense, it works for me. (I'm 3c to 4b with a hint of 4c in the front where my hair is very thin.) Love your channel. Good luck with fluff nugget.

      kapparhotau181 with lco, you are supposed to be using a sealing oil like castor oil or even a Shea butter. Something that will lock in the moisture. Loc, is where you use the penetrating light oil like sweet almond oil.

      @@MyCrimsonMischief So I tried your suggestion with castor oil with the LCO method and my scalp was so dry I cringed at how bad it felt and looked. The bright side was my hair dried within hours which has never happened in the winter. I think I will stick with the LOC method. Mine is really LLOC, i section my hair first spray on the water then work in the Leave-in then put the oil on then the cream. I think putting the leave-in after the water then the oil right away locks in the moisture b4 it escapes my strands allowing my strands to stay moisturized.

    I never liked the LOC or LCO methods on my hair, so I adapted my own OCG method lol... oil, cream/leave-in, gel 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @antoniohodo1015
      @antoniohodo1015 Před 2 lety

      What kind of gel do you use? I used aloe Vera gel for a twist out and it left residue flakes in my hair.

    • @syd2much
      @syd2much Před 2 lety

      @@antoniohodo1015 I used to use As I Am curling jelly or a Mielle gel. But the type of gel to use just depends on what's best for your hair type and what desired outcome you'd like. To prevent flaking you have to make sure that the gel and conditioner mix well together. You can do a little test by putting a little of your conditioner and gel on your hand and mixing it together. If it clumps, it will leave flakes when it it dries. If it mixes together smoothly, it's less likely to flake. Also try not to use too much conditioner.
      I now use leave-in conditioners with foams/mousses because it works great for my hair right now and foams don't tend to weigh my hair down as much as gels.

    Honey you might want to consider adding heat to fluff nugget while you're deep conditioning. It will open up the cuticle and allow the product to soak in easier... Also, try warm to slightly hot water when styling. Lastly, from observation, it seems to me you might have medium to low porosity hair ( based solely on how the water beads up on your hair).

    Team Fluff Nugget over here too! I've been natural for nearly 15 years and I'm still figuring it out too. You are too cute and funny. Keep up the good work. I used to use LCO, but then it wasn't working as well, so I switched to LOC and it was bomb, but that depended on the product/oil combo. Lately, I've been using LCO with my leave-in (miss jessie's leave in / jojoba), but when i style I use LOC (Jane Carter styling cream w/either Jojoba or olive oil). That'll probably change again next year.

    I'm a dude that is fairly low maintenance. I started growing and moisturizing my hair. I was doing my own experiments while getting familiar with my own hair type. I have similar 4C hair to yours. I think it's also mid to high porosity because it absorbed water really quickly after a shower. I found that the lco methods definitely helps my hair to absorb and lock in moisture more readily. It just so happens that I stumbled on your video about it. Good experiment.

    Use products sparingly for fine hair. To get good stretch without a lot of manipulation, while the hair is damp or dry, section and detangle hair thoroughly. Create about 3 to 4 large twists on left and right side, stretch each twist on right side towards the back of the head and continue wrapping around the head depending on length, do the opposite for left side, stretching them, not too tight, pin them in place while stretched. For maximum securement wrap ends around bobby pin before pinning hair in place. Tie hair down to ensure roots are lying flat against the head. Sit under a dryer or let dry overnight. This is just one of several options that's worth trying. 🙏😘

    I think a monthly deep conditioning treatment and monthly protein treatment would make a huge difference in your hair. Plus finger detangling and stretching with braids or twists. I have fine, 4C, low density hair and these changes made a huge difference in my hair's thickness and length retention

    Definitely download the app Think Dirty! Cantu scores pretty high on their charts and a high number is NOT a good thing! When I was using it, my head would feel itchy and flaky. I thought it might have been me since I do have sensitive skin but golly it was bad. I'd love to see you try out Shea Moisture! It has done wonders to my hair and it's gentle enough that it doesn't irritate me scalp.
