      Well it's around this time and album he started using the stingray and I think he used it on this album but you're right he did have a fender p-bass that he used quite regularly from 77-85 but I'm not sure weather he got this exact sound with that bass, it's a very difficult tone to get I think it's lots of low action and high treble

      @Kennet - you can get this sound with flats lmao - have you heard a stingray with flats, p bass maybe not but im pretty sure this is his stingray - plus john almost exclusively used flatwounds as far as we know.
