  • Haircut and hair styling in the historic 성우이용원 Seongu Barbershop in Seoul, South Korea.
In 1927, Mr. Lee’s grandfather opened the barbershop. At that time, he was the second Korean who was given a permit for barbering by the occupying Japanese. It was in the 1960s when Mr. Lee began cutting hair. He worked with his dad all the way up until the 1970s when his dad decided to retire.
We stopped by the shop to film on a weekday afternoon thinking perhaps it might be quieter during a weekday as opposed to the weekend. We found Mr. Lee had a regular stream of customers coming by the shop so when it was our turn, I hopped into the chair and the camera started to roll!
Mr. Lee is a little over 5’ tall so uses a footstool to stand on while working on his customers. You’ll also see him using potato starch in my hair as a visual aid. In the past, barbers used powders that contained asbestos so Mr. Lee switched to potato starch as it is not harmful.
He still lathers up his shaving soap on the side of a hot water pot heated on a charcoal stove and uses watering cans to wash your hair as well as does a vinegar rinse.
Part 2 of this video include a traditional shave and hair wash 👉🏼 • 💈 Relaxing SHAVE with ...

This barber shop has been opened since 1927. Master Lee’s grandfather started the barber shop. And the tools that Mr. Lee use are very classic, especially a razor was manufactured in 19th Century. Also this barber shop is officially chosen as the heritage of Seoul City. As a seoulite, I’m very proud of this shop.

He had so much pride ( and joy) making a long haired skater, look like a Marine, every 3 years. Thank you Glenn. ( Spring Branch, Houston, Texas.) He has since passed many years ago. I see what he did there at 20:30. That's quite clever.
He used the white powder as a marker of sorts so that he could evenly blend it as he goes, since as he travels upwards while cutting the white powder will disappear as the hair falls off with it. So he can use the powder as a guideline to make sure the whole thing is even, since he's only using scissors.

wow an old school professional service you don't see much anymore these days, the salon looks modest but he make so much effort in your comfort it looks more enjoyable than most fancy high end places... and most importantly, Mr. Lee is such a master with scissors!!!

No one pointing out how good the barber's own hair is ?!?! Never seen such perfect hair, not short/not long, slighlty wavy, slighlty put backwards, much slighlty grey hair by the side, super shiny. Clearly a man of taste.

I can't get over how many people were in the place, including the woman who kept playing with her hair, and the antiquated everything. It was sort of awesome. That barber is a master at hs craft.

I'm not gonna lie. At first I was perplexed and incredulous about this one. Then, I was astounded about this gentleman. Wish I had the money to visit this shop. Top 3 favorite of all Harry's vids.

@@miawee6041 The Dharavi Slum Mumbai is good too. It's really the only video I've seen where when Harry says it's up to them, that kid really changed it up and showed what he could do. He had some really good skills in my opinion. Best final look on Harry I've seen.

This is one of the best of the best videos I already experience. This cult classic shop with natural day light and old rustic interior is like a time machine. The master skill used by Mr Lee is amazing, the scissors drawer is something magic and even that water tank with lots of smoth barbear cream makes this shop a very unusual place. I love everything, even when he answer is old nostalgic thelephone.
ASMR .......100% and Mr Lee Hair is tremendous beautiful and neat. Greetings from Portugal.
