It's crazy Lebron in his 14th season is averaging 26/8/9 shooting 56% from the field and 40% from 3. Has his team the 1st in the East despite not having 2 starters majority of the season. He is the only person who can stop a golden state dynasty he is the MVP of the league. He's our only hope. And he's gotta do it in his 14th season. He's MVP

Connor Smith True but Lebron always coasts in the regular season. In the playoffs he's by far the best in the league. Personally I think harden is MVP just because if we have it to the actual best player every year Lebron would probably have 8

No one cares about what he did for 14 years or if he beat Golden state last year it has nothing to do with Being MVP This year... saying he's missing 2 starters and his doing this and that well westbrook harden play in a Tougher conference and has no other all stars on their teams and are having a better season the LBJ i actually like lebron but Cavs are under achieving

I think every GM knows that Lebron is the best player, but it wouldnt be fun if the best player would win all the time so they give the award to the one's with the best stats, or the more flashy stats.
The award wins in topics of discussion and excitement, but loses on prestige. I think it got to a point where it is interesting but does not define who the better player is (the one who gives you more wins and championships, because yes, that is what measures the value of a player)
When you have 82 games that are not much important for the best player, guess what, he will not give you his best, althought everyone knows he's the best.
I think it got to the point where MVP is not that prestigious, its just something that can add fun to the regular season.

Both Kyrie and Kevin love had never made the playoffs before they played with Lebron. And stacked team? The bench is ranked 28th it's a bunch of old shooting veterans. Stop spamming your idiocy. Just b/c they didn't vote for lebron doesn't mean they hate him. They think others are having a better year. Harden has no all stars, a worse team, plays in west, and still has a better record. Lebron is having his 2nd best 3pt% ever, not his best. He is also having his worst FT% ever and most TOs ever. Convincing free agents has literally nothing to do with MVP.

LeBron does have the best skill set in the NBA hands down. Nobody can do what LeBron does and all of these GMs & Owners who voted against him will sign LeBron to their team immediately if not sooner if he were to declare free agency.
HOWEVER in terms of MVP value to their team Russell just BARELY edges out LeBron this year because of his essentialness to his team in comparison to LeBron and his.

There's a difference between best player & MVP. James Harden is the MVP this year. The award is given to who is having the best year. Kawhi is making a case & Westbrook is close but Harden is the MVP. Finals MVP is what LeBron should be worried about. & on top of what Cleveland is underachieving with a very good roster. Maybe if they ever hired someone who would coach the team they would win more & he would win the MVP.

I LOVE this year's race for MVP because it will finally force what the definition of MVP is. If they all had the same record: Russ wins it. If the player is absent from the team: LeBron is more valuable in that regard. Will the player have the same impact if the teams were switched around? LeBron is more valuable in that regard. IMO they are having a hard time isolating this year from other years. "We haven't seen an averaged triple double in 40 years" "In his 14th season?!" "Without Tim Duncan?!" "This is the best we have seen from him" You just can't judge like that.

If you're a GM and LeBron plays for your team, you have to take a backseat to him because he's gonna pick his coach and his teammates. I can see why GM's don't necessarily like LeBron.

maybe the executives saw that lebron has 2 other all-stars on their team (the other 3 have a combined 0), the team has the 3rd best record among the 4 candidates, with all of the things he gets away with (he gets solid role players gifted, his team is just so stacked) and with this losing streak, no thanks.

But as humans we get bored with greatness and just want somebody else. I am in no way saying those guys don't deserve MVP but to trivialise the greatness of Lebron in a team where he shares most the points with an average of 7 other players who can not win a game without him. Tell me if any other MVP candidate shares such statistics

LeBron is the MVP without a doubt, some people does not understand the effect Lebron has on a team.. when Lebron was out of Cleveland, that team was no good whatsoever they fell out of part. And when Lebron came back they became a companion contender. Yes, we can all agree that the west is much tougher, however this guy has proved that he is the ultimate player in the mvp. He plays all parts of a position and he does it so well. I don't understand how people can have soo much hate for this man. We take his greatness for granted. The man can easily drop triple doubles easily, however, he gets everyone in the game. I hope people does not take this guy for granted because when it's all said and done he will perhaps be the greatest of all time.

I think for LeBron to win MVP this year, he would have to go on an absolute tear like he did in 2014. For the majority of the season, the media had KD as the MVP. So LeBron just went berserk in the second half of the season to prove why he should be MVP. Now KD still won it that year, but it was by a small margin of three votes, and if meaningless votes hadn't gone to Joakim Noah, LeBron probably would won. Cleveland would have to go on a win streak and LeBron would have to play like he did in last year's Finals to sway the media's MVP votes.

I understand he loves LeBron and whatnot but this season Harden should win the MVP. As of right now he's #3 in ppg, #1 in assists and is leading his team to a better record than LeBron with no other all star on his team. I know LeBron is valuable to his team but so is every other star player who team relies on them to pull out a win.

It has to be a story around MVP trophies seem like...Bron numbers are "the usual" to the media now. Would be an outstanding season for anyone else though. "Cavs have allstars!"....allstars that cant win a game without Bron. Folks always boost the talent Bron plays with and downplay the talent other guys have. Cavs bench is old. Dantoni system is perfect for Harden. Has the 6th man of the year on his bench in Lou and shooters on the bench. A top defensive pg in Beverly, Ariza has championship experience,Gordon,etc...Spurs system plug and play always been that way, and i dont feel sorry Westbrook carrying Thunder because im positive Harden,Kawhi and Bron wouldve made it work with KD.

LBJ can do it, need a center? LBJ can do it, need someone that can guard all 5 positions? LBJ can do it. LBJ is the greatest talent since MJ. Kobe? Please. KD? Please, Steph? Child please!

The thing is, I acknowledge that LeBron is the best in the league, talented on the court and influential off, but how boring would it be for LeBron to win every year. So I think it should be rewarded for people who are putting up stats this year that they have never done before, play extraordinary comparatively to the rest of the league and to their previous years, but as for LeBron it is not like he is doing a ton more than he normally does. That is just my thoughts on it I guess

  • @fakeshake234

Does anyone else think the NBA should consider an Offensive Player of the Year award? They already have DPOY. Lebron should be winning MVP almost every year. Guys like Harden, Westbrook, and Curry are the ones that should be having OPOY. Kawhi is the only one this year that can contend with Lebron in MVP because Kawhi is the best two way player in the game right now. I'm not saying the NBA absolutely needs an OPOY award but it seems like these days MVP is synonymous with the best offensive/statistical player in the league. Just food for thought.

He had a great argument, but at the same time, harden, westbrook, and leonard havent been asking everyone in the league to join their team. Take away kyrie ad love, the supporting cast is still better than what harden and westbrook have. Those two are also making their teammates better as well, so don't use that in an argument. Bron is the best player in the world, but he cannot win it every year.
