well this is partly true, this is how pizza is served at restaurant, but if you get something from the pizzeria (pizza d'asporto) then that's cut and you can share it too

Flat round doughs with toppings have been a staple around the Mediterranean since ancient times check Mankosha or pide, modern day pizza is just another variation made after the introduction to tomatoes around the 15th or 16th century prior to that pizza was made with various toppings just like it’s Mediterranean counterparts ex. the Greek, Levantine, Egyptian, and Anatolian

I'm in Asia. Once, I accompanied my girlfriend to her company party but I couldn't get in at first (I got in later, of course) so I went to an Italian pizza place nearby and ordered a full sized pizza for my dinner. Wolf that sucker down like I was starved. Everyone looked at me either in disgust or awe, couldn't tell which.

About simplicity. One Italian man who was visiting my country said pizza here is not a pizza but a pie 💀🤌because of the vast quantity of ingredients hes like did you put everything in the fridge when you make pizza.
