  • Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Glenfarg, Scottish Gaelic: Gleann Fairg, a small village in the Ochil Hills in the county of Perthshire. Opened in 1890, the Glenfarg Railway was a twin track line linking Mawcarse Junction with the Bridge of Earn. The line opened at the same time as the Forth Railway Bridge and helped to provide a direct rail link between Edinburgh and Perth. Glenfarg Golf Course was a 9 hole, well kept, hilly course with natural undulating greens; holes varied from 170yds to over 300yds. It was extended to 10 holes following WW1. Sunday play was not allowed. The golf club disappeared in the late 1930s. The station at Glenfarg was ¼ mile away. Local hotels were the Lomond and the Arngask.Glenfarg had a Temperance Hotel. The Temperance Scotland Act 1913 is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom under which voters in small local areas in Scotland were enabled to hold a poll to vote on whether their area remained " wet " or went " dry, " that is, whether alcoholic drinks should be permitted or prohibited. The decision was made on a simple majority of votes cast. The Act was a result of the strong temperance movement in Scotland before the First World War. Brewers and publicans formed defence committees to fight temperance propaganda.

Time goes by very quickly. So, the best way to stop it is to shoot pictures. Your old photographs are awesome to watch.
