I'm so happy to have finally found this video, there is not another video with as much information to be found on CZcams regarding these powerful triple induction motors.

Don't drop any of the bearings on the floor they roll all over. I was always missing some when I put my trans. back together. I made up for it with extra parts though.

Just listening you guys should have visited Weber Auto to learn more about this motor and now it basically works. Its a Dc motor by the way.

Yes, the Weber Auto videos are awesome. And, you are incorrect. The Model S motor is a 3 phase AC motor.

Most other EV's are DC... BUT Tesla Model S are Alternating Current that is why the require an Inverter. www.automobilemag.com/news/electric-cars-explained-gearheads/#:~:text=There%20are%20two%20main%20kinds,motors%20in%20its%20Model%203.

Awesome build. I am thinking about a similar project. Could you please tell me the weight of motor by itself . After you remove all gears and the inverter. Thanks so much.

Sorry for the delay. We haven't weighed it yet. I will and get back to you.

The motor itself is right about 200lbs

Did you consider using the full tesla motor as a rear drive unit? I've seen some attempts at it shortening the drive shafts/control arms....

Gentlemen you can completely remove the whole middle part (gearbox) and only retain the electric motor. There is no need for the other gearbox casing to stay.
