Electric soldering iron and water? Hmm - what could go wrong? I'd heat a BBW skewer over a flame instead or use a gas soldering iron.

The way I learned to make these, you just use a butane bar torch on the syringe for 15 or 20 seconds until it's hot and then touch that against the ice ball. No need for electricity near water.
