I found cotton buds that are tiny. Like a toothpick with a tiny bit of cotton on. Theyre for microblading and also cleaning keyboards etc. Perfect for very small areas like in the eyes. They work amazingly with graphite and pastel
I go to the dollar store and get the eye-shadowapplicators (small pads on end like the pastel tools actually) Cheap and very effective for getting into small areas too.
Amazing! It looks so life-like!
Thanks Jason, you are amazing to watch and learn from!!
I hear q-tips work great
Soooo glassy‼️ love watching eyes come to life 😍 thanks Jason 👍
Wow, thank you so much.... Such an inspiration! I learned so much from all your video... I do love to start a colorful draw with pastel by looking at your video...it's really help me to discover my artwork.
Great job Mr Jason‼️ you always have Good videos to show us, filled with Great tips & advice👍🏼👍🏼 Thanks for sharing your information with us👏🏼👏🏼👌🏻
Thanks for the great tip! I’ve been trying a few different tools lately to see if there is something that blends well in small areas but had not thought to try a stylus. Luckily I have several lying around unused so I tried and yes, the pastel blends pretty well! Thanks again!
The excellent demo was full of valuable techniques. Thank you.
Wow. I’ve learnt such a lot from this video. Only a newbie to pastels. Thanks x
What a great idea to use a stylus tip! Thanks for sharing Jason.
Kitchen paper, cheap and effective, works surprisingly well. Saw it on another channel and I haven’t looked back!
For very tiny areas, micro brushes work really well.
incredible work jason
Great video Thank you Jason, very handy to know and will try this , super little demo thank you.
I have found that color shapers on pastelmat do not work with pastel pencils, but they work when you use extremely soft pastels and there is lots of creamy pigment to move around. I don't find them useful for blending, it's really more for shaping the colors (like their name says), pushing pigment around, reaching small corners, create painterly effects, and so on..
You're so amazing, I learn so much from you!
wow, inspiring !! i want to master the art of soft pastels, just got some pastel pencils to try ! thanks for video
Another in-depth tutorial. Very informative and very helpful.
For blending small areas on Pastelmat I like to use cotton buds. They're no good on sanded paper but work very well on Pastelmat.
Thanks for taking the time and sharing 👍
Absolutely brilliant, thank you so much
Awesome Video, thanks for sharing your expertise!!!!!!!
👍 Thanks for testing and sharing tips about all these various tools. I’m working on a project now where this stylus will come in very handy and will try it out today.
you have to use sandpaper to shave it off
Thank you so very much for this demo. I just order the styluses, today.
I am learning so much from you. Fantastic😆
Hi Jason, your work is fabulous! I just wanted to send you a tip, in the ladies make up isle, there are rubber to blenders like a stylist that are really inexpensive. Also, they have cotton buds that are shaped with a point which work really well for tight areas. Thank you for sharing your talent!!
You're an amazing artist and an excellent teacher! Thanks a lot!!👍👍
I enjoyed this video very much! Now following!
Very informative and enjoyable .Many thanks.
you get better and better and past perfect,,fantastic
Sorry you’re unwell, happy new year and many thanks for all the great videos. Amazon have micro stylus for sale
You’re an amazing artist and teacher. I’m thinking of signing on to your patreon
Just amazing!
Very helpful. I am working on a horses eye that is a bit smaller because I am doing the neck and head. I use pastel mat but am always afraid of filling the tooth too soon. Thank you.
Beautiful work
Hermoso tutorial!!! paso a paso!! gracias!!!
Amazing I love your videos
Great help, happy new year
A couple of the ones you showed Jason, are really clay shapers. I've used them with sculpting clay miniatures. However, I've been using a product that body painters use a lot from Loew-Cornell Cone Style Stix. They are not rubber but a spongie like thingy. Comes in many shapes. My smallest cone .. shapes down to the taper to 2mm. You don't need a lot pressure and really blends like your finger. Here in the states at a store called Hobby Lobby has a set of 4 costs $8.99 (7.06 pounds I believe) so they are very inexpensive. You can also wash them off. Just throwing in my two cents..:)
thanks :)
Jason Morgan - Wildlife Art The little paddle shaped eye shadow applicators, sounds like the thing that kittyrins is describing, you can buy them wherever they sell cosmetics. They only cost a couple of dollars for 10.
Would not have thought of the stylus pen! Thank you, I have a few gathering dust! 👍
Try a cheap artist paint brush and trim it back to about 1/4 inch. Use that to blend
Thanks for your great tutorials, Jason. I’m going to search your videos on CZcams to see if I can find a video about using FC Polychromos colored pencils over PanPastels. If you haven’t done one, please do.
Amazing!
Wonderful work. I’m lucky I have small fingers, but good ideas. Thanks.
Thanks so much for your time
Great video! Has anyone tried the microfiber stylus tips. After viewing this video I am wondering if they would work for blending or even better for use in the Pan Pastels.
Very nice!
I’m so glad I discovered you and your video on CZcams! Absolutely brilliant! I am interested in trying a different medium other than watercolor. As a beginner to pastels, what supplies would you recommend? Excited to get started! I intend to watch all of your videos for instruction! 🎨 😊
Merci pour ce tutoriel ❤
love it
What an incredible work! Please ask me a question after I finish the work and I will frame with glass is it necessary to apply a varnish or not? I use Faber Castell Pitt Pastel. He was reluctant to apply the spray, as it darkens the pastel and leaves it slightly pigmented.
I prefer the color shapers but mostly the white very soft ones.
Perfect
Fantastic video Mr. Morgan! I will try the stylus sometime in the future. Meanwhile, have you tried using Q-tips (ear swabs) to blend or smoothen pastels? I personally have used Q-tips on different paper types for blending pastel art, they blend well and also take off lesser amount of pastel color from paper when compared with finger blending. Any personal experience with regards to this?
It looks almost... like some makeup applicators (??) And they do come in little pointy rubber points (eyeliner smudgers etc) and you can buy them in White and other colours.
But this is great - I REALLY like... videos that are about different things to use to blend and yeah - the colour shapers won't make friends with me either! They look sooo good but I mainly use them for removing stuff rather than blending 😄
Very nice
I will try
Colour shapers don't work on paper's like Pastelmat. They work very well with graphite and charcoal on smooth paper like Bristol board. Great for softening edges and creating blurred effects.
Correct.
@@wildlifeartjmHave you tried using pipe insulation foam? You can cut and use a small or large piece depending on the size of the area you want to blend.
Many thaanks for that demo ! I just would have loved to see the picture while you were drawing the eye, and at least see it at the end to compare ;-)
Thanks for the video, it was very informative. I noticed that the pastel goes on very smoothly on the paper with none of the paper showing through, is this due to the paper you are using, or are you perhaps pushing hard with the pencils?
Happy New Year!!! Jason, Love the informative tip. Just a thought here. Could you use the tip of the pan pastel triangular painting knife to do same thing? or does it smudge it too much like the colour shaper? Would the colour shaper work better on pastel paper? Collin Bradley uses them on Ingres paper. Love your tutorials.
I don't like ingress at all
Hi! Have you tried the "colour shaper" to blend small surfaces?
Where do you get that blender from the one that you are using on the eye
Where did you buy that stylus/blending tool? Jackson's only have one in a set or a single one with an edged point.
Can I ask how much pressure are you applying to the darker areas.
Wow merci 😉
Can we use any colour o padtelmat
Hey, where do we find that is tool?
Hi Jason, I am just getting into pastel pencil painting. I do stick pastels generally, but have a full set of Carbothellos. I love them. Where can I get the black blending rubber stylus tools you demonstrated? Can you put a link to them? Thanks.
i us the colorless blender used with col pencils
Maybe try a *much* lighter touch with the silicone/rubber shapers?
What kind of paper is it?? Canson?
What brand is the wood pencils you are using
What do you use to sharpen your pastel pencils. I have found a expensive sharpener but is there anything else out there...thanks a head of time
Thank you for the demo, if you use sanded paper what would be good to blend with. I normally use my finger but have bought a makeup sponge for large areas and a small blender tool they use for pan pastels, I haven’t used them yet though.
Pipe insulation is a good option
WOW SUPER DANKE 👍❤
Pastels feels like a funeral parlor.
B D stsnds for Bargin Depot. They sell the stylus on Amazon
Correct.
what about cotton wool
buds
Super mais pourquoi ne pas donner les réf de couleurs utilisées merci
Really nice and informative video! I'm wondering if you've tried any of the "sofft tools"/sponges from the PanPastel line with the pastelmat and what was the result?
Yes. See my other videos on my youtube channel. I even have my own PanPastel wildlife art set 👍😉
Judy Carter ((morning is77
thanks for the help! this came out amazing! what colors did you use for this project?
No idea, I just pick up the colours that match the ref photo 👍
the issue I find is most lessons do a large eye which is much easier than doing a smaller one , especially doing the highlights in a smaller eye
hello your demo is great but why do not you put the colors you use! it would serve many of us! thank you I'm waiting for your answer! your eye is splendid.
❤❤❤
Makeup sponges work well and a lot cheaper especially those used for eyeshadows and alike
I have a video comparing them
Does the sanded surface wear these down quickly?
Hi. As mentioned on the video this is my 1st time using it.
Stylet name and shooping please!
Need the source to see the development...
أكثر من رائع
have you tried the pointed cotton buds?
Yes everything like that just wipes pastel off unfortunately
Magnifique ,j'aimerais bien suivre vos cours mais je ne parles pas Anglais ,dommage .
Colours please on démonstration ! Merci!
what is this tool on 16:45 ? i can´t translate this in german....? stylus toll??
Some things done here is silly to get some results
Hi Jason! Thank you for the video! I was wondering if brushes would be a good blending tool. Have you used them before? I'm just curious if they would do the job. Thank you!
They brush pastel away . I can't get them to work for me.
Thank you!
For the double ended stylus go to www.amazon.com/Capacitive-Sensitivity-Precision-Screens-Devices/dp/B01N2QBN5W
Hi Jason,
Superb art. Can you please help me to know the pastel pencil brand and the specific colors used for making this art.
Also I am little confused going through the site for becoming the member.
Please provide your email I'd so that I can get my queries cleared.
Thanks
I use mostly carbothello and Pitt pastel pencils. Regarding joining . Email is on my site. www.jasonmorgan.co.uk.
@@wildlifeartjm thanks sir.I have mailed you.Waiting for your response.
Thanks
What about a q-tip?
Doesn't work
how do you clean the paper stumps
I am a bit concerned that you recommend to use your finger to blend. Ever heard of dermal absorbtion over time from toxic elements within some pastels? Not an easily identifiable problem until late age. Cadmium in particular. Just an after thought. The archival soundness of your work may become affected and diminish its quality over time from the sweat within your finger tips.
