Great video! Watching for a second time. I found some large alligator gar scales that were modified into what I assume would be "bird points" at a site near Catahoula Lake, so they were taking large gar. If you have clay that isn't too sandy you can mux in some grass fiber and cover the fish to bake. When you peel off the clay the skin comes off with it.
Happened upon your channel a few days ago looking to get more information into flint knapping and you got me hooked. Can't wait to dive into learning these primitive skills. Ordered your knapping kit and some clunkies that should be arriving tomorrow and I can't wait to dive in!! Thanks for all your knowledge!
Another amazing video! Very nice! You can wrap the fish in a clay ball as well and throw it in the coals. Skin usually comes off with the clay when you crack it off. OR you can seal any cracks with fresh clay and it's now cooked and portable.
Loving it. I'm saving up for a bow from mr. Gill. I've done good with the flakes and knapping kit I bought. I've made more points than I've torally destroyed. Do still have some issues turtle backing but I'm learning how to remedy that and choose my layout more appropriately yo th ed flake. I am gonna order a few chunks of flint this weekend coming up cause I want an axe lol. Still trying my hand at bow making just dropped a nice wild cherry stave
@@huntprimitive9918 thank you for sharing your wisdom. I'll begin touch before summers out for a bow. I'm going to try some kanawha black chert soon. If you'd like to try a chunk or 2 of it I'll gladly send ya some.
Great vid, Ryan! Love tilapia. Hand drill fire? Been really at it, since your vid last year! Have 2 cane arrows for shooting suckers here in Indiana. Thanks again, looking forward to the next adventure! Steve...not Lisa!
probably more of a modern thing. primitive lines can get pretty heavy and drag arrows down or deflect them. It doable as seen in my alligator hunting video, but lines are a pain in the butt unless you really really need them
Hey Ryan we would have still been super impressed by that shot even if you had wetted your pants n the run up. You are so watchable and the content was just what I was looking for right now. Thanks heaps!
Would you be able to make a bow string out of the raw hide backing you sell on your website? If not do you sell and is one sufficient for triple braid? I am excited and enjoy your resources
Great video I’ve been following you for a long time now and really appreciate and enjoy your content brother. What parts of Florida do you practice and hunt
Is that the bow you quick dried and made from stone tools? It looks like it is still shooting very well for a bow that was force dried. I’ve heard people say quick drying yields poorer performing bows, but this one looks to be plenty efficient. Very impressed.
Yes, that's the same bow. I actually think it makes a better bow because it really hyper dries the wood out. I think the key either way is to make sure it is truly dry before tillering
I have written about it extensively, but i know I don't have a video about it. Stone points typically don't do well on turkeys. Steel points are fine but overall bow hunting birds without all the modern gear is a good way to go hungry for a primitive man. That's why I like to hunt turkeys with the flintlock. That's still pretty fun for me and I do have a video on that
I am sure there is somewhere. I used a cord in my gator hunting video. The cords are just a pain in the butt with getting tangles and slowing the arrow down a lot. I don't like to use one unless I absolutely need to
@@huntprimitive9918 that makes sense. I made a yucca cord last year for the first time, thanks to your instructions on making them, and I can see how that would knot up if you looked at it wrong.
I saw an episode of Meateater with steve rinella when he went to Bolivia and hung out with a local tribe and they were shooting pretty long two fletched and even no fletched arrows and hitting fish in chocolate milk water from a pretty good distance u ever thought about breaking down footage a primitive peoples shooting and hunting with there bows and giving your thoughts as to why different culture's utilized certain designs...sorry for the long comment my english isn't the best
Bro WTF its self défense didn't you see that they killed kids so they need to stop protecting themselves and let themselves die just for you to satisfy????
Hell yeah CZcams's most elusive primitive Hunter!!! Great way to start the day
hopefully we will kick off good new video season.

You've pulled some wicked shots out the bag over the years but that initial one was quite something! 🤯
thanks very much!
@@huntprimitive9918 u must shoot a lot oof beer can to shoot fish and rabbits in the water . You are a real primitive hunter no doubt
you always get me pumped to go out in the yard and lose arrows. love you man
More good stuff from Mr. Gill. I got hungry watching you cook.

excellent, great to hear that and thanks very much. best of luck on your primitive adventures
I loved bow fishing when I was a kid. I need to get back into this.
Amazing, as always. I'd like to join your group when the apocalypse hits.
You won't have to wait long to see that
Take me along

Fish is on the 'MENU' ,...YEAH !!
Fantastic video.. enjoyed watching you fish that channel. Reminds me of north central Florida..
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
Awesome fish and pig encounter!
thanks very much
Damn, thats a nice tilapia. That with carbs, is a fiiine meal.
I love weapons and that is a primitive weapon. Nice video !
thanks very much
Great video!!... Didn't know you Florida boys knew what old bay was..lol.. in Maryland we put that sh** on everything.
haha, Steve Rinella mentioned it enough so i figured i should try it. we typically use cajun or everglades seasoning down here
Old bay has no real flavor son 😅
Tilapia straight on the coals sounds very good right now.
As good as always great dinner you got there
An early morning to work on my chickens wall very quickly turned into a holiday! Love to see these kind of vids!
Glad you enjoyed!
Amazing video once again. Filled with tons of information
thanks very much Austin
Good stuff Ryan 👍👏👌
Alternative title: How to use the force when hunting fish with a primitive bow.
Only explanation. It’s difficult to hit fish w/ a laser pointer from that distance.
Fresh fish, it's better than the ones at the store.
HuntPrimitive is return!!!!!!

Thank you!
Nice work thanks for the videos
Glad you like them!
One dislike is from a vegan
No it was from the fish’s family
🤣🤣🤣
Why were they watching this channel? So confused. Atlatal for corn hunting?
Nice shot
thank you
Watching from Nepal 🇳🇵
thanks for following along
Perfect for your idea
I love bow fishing like that. I’ve killed a few decent sized carp with just a sharpened sapling arrow
awesome. it's great fun

Awesome
Awesome!!!!
That looks like a great shooting bow, was it ever traditional to have a line connected to the arrow or is that a modern thing?
probably more of a modern thing. primitive lines can get pretty heavy and drag arrows down or deflect them. It doable as seen in my alligator hunting video, but lines are a pain in the butt unless you really really need them
❤❤❤ you are my IDOL, you are the coolest person ever!
Man you do some good videos my only complaint is they aren't long enough
thanks very much. Most of my really long ones just don't do very well. Most folks don't like the big ones
@@huntprimitive9918 I for one really enjoy them, the long ones about knapping or just long hunts

excelente pesca felicitaciones. saludos desde Argentina
Looks like fun!
Lots of fun. That sun really cooks you after a while though
Very Nice video.
Many many thanks
I'm new fan for you sir
Good video Ryan. Would those depressions in the creek bottom, I’m seeing, be the Tilapia nest scrapes?
nice,nice,nice.................greetz from the Netherlands!!!
Спасибо за видео. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Fantastic video Gil! I love that yuca bowstring too, did you treat it with anything such as wax or a talo/wax mixture for weather proofing?
Good job getting rid of tilapia. Sad even the tiniest creeks in Fl are full of invasive species
Increíble lo que se puede construir a partir de materiales naturales 😃🙂
Could you build a penobscot style bow? I’m wondering how effective that style bow actually was
Try a mudfish (Bowfin) cooked that way. Its mighty tasty
This man sees a alligator in the water and is just like well got to go get my fish
Since flint is very very rare around where I live I use a caribou antler and use a knife and sand stone or sandpaper and I wanna try catching a beaver
What part of Fla is this, never saw terrain like that, especially like that canal, thx for the vid
around the arcadia area. Northern tip of the everglades flood plain
Old bay is great
Would you be able to make a bow string out of the raw hide backing you sell on your website? If not do you sell and is one sufficient for triple braid? I am excited and enjoy your resources
yes, you can take the backing strips and cut them into strands for a string. Same stuff and should work great for you
Guy love the channel
thank you

Which one of our beautiful Creeks are you fishing in
Ive been watching since 2019 and I’ve been in ahh ever scence

Man I wish I had river cane in my area
My guess is since they weren’t retrieving the fish with a line on the arrow there wasn’t a need for a barb.
Quantas libras deve ter um arco de caça ?
We're do you do this it's so cool!
Do u have any coupon code for your website because I want t buy deluxe knaping kit and sinew and pine pinch glue
What app do you use to edit your videos plz responed or can someone else thankd
I use Adobe
Can you upload in higher quality? 720p is really low res for 2021. Love your work though.
Where in FL was this filmed?
what is the angle of the shot?
10/10 Awesome
thank you very much
Is there a purpose for the extra arrow length?
It carries more weight for deeper penetration through the water, and it's easier to retrieve as well as immobilize the fish
Where is this?
I think another reason there wasnt barbs is because the weren't reeling it like modern bow fishing.
You should try a turkey hunting video
I have written about it extensively, but i know I don't have a video about it. Stone points typically don't do well on turkeys. You seem to have a very good education. Wondering what kind of advanced degree you have?
thanks much. Just highschool. But I love to learn either through audio books or self-research.
Is there any evidence to primitives putting a cord on the arrow to pull the fish in with similar to how we do with modern bow fishing?
I am sure there is somewhere. I used a cord in my gator hunting video. The cords are just a pain in the butt with getting tangles and slowing the arrow down a lot. I don't like to use one unless I absolutely need to

Arrow. A Gar using a Sharks Tooth. Point.
At least a 5 to 6 foot Gar .
Is this private or public land?
private
Do you sell any bows that you make? If so let me know how i can get in touch with you.
yes absolutely. The website is www.huntprimitive.com thanks very much

Bow Wood why ??
I want to become a wild hunter and wildlife photographer from India. What can I do?
Why no fletchings ?
No effect at that short of a distance.
@@Oxnate cool
they get water logged immediately and we don't really need them for fishing arrows
Second!!! lol
Eating gar? Hmm
hey do a bow give away um hook ur boi up i want to hunt but broke as hell help ur boi out
