    I very much admire the restraint you show on not taking a bad shot, you sir are a great and responsible hunter, thanks for taking us along

    I've never had the privilege of hearing the Florida palmetto forest after a good vibrant sunset storm. I thank you for sharing that.

    Much respect for hanging on to your shot with the boars in the middle of the video, that takes discipline of mind.

    I used to try and catch every armadillo I saw. Little boogers are stronger than they look especially if you don't snatch them in the air before they kick

    I'm still impressed by the fact that you hunt in just a t-shirt ,pants and moccasins,,no face paint,camo, treestand etc,,it makes me wonder if the industry just invent stuff to sell to people,stuff that they perhaps don't necessarily need? I don't know.

    • @brianc6739
      @brianc6739 Před rokem

      Of course you don't need it. It's all for show. No natives ever had camo. Being still and moving slow is the key. Wear colors of other harmless animals not predators

    Love your videos man. Thanks for putting up all the great content. You should be careful handling armadillos, lots of them have leprosy. At least get checked for it because it can take a long time to know you have it and it is treatable.

    I was hunting Turkeys with a friend one fall. We spotted birds in a tree and as I was going to shoot it six heads popped out. She evidently had a late clutch and they were all up in the tree with her including one smaller bird that was in between them in size. Someone perched on top of her making her look huge.

    @whistlingbadger Před rokem

    Hey, Ryan. A couple questions: I seem to remember that you back all your bows with rawhide and/or sinew. Do you do anything special with them so the rain doesn't soften your backing? Also, do you ever try using predator calls on hogs? Seems like they'd come to a fawn bleat or rabbit squeal. We don't have them here so I'm just curious. Great video!

  • @2anonymous

    You wear moccasins while hunting. Don't they get all slimmy and the hide lets out when you get them wet walking through water? Then do you wear them until dry?

  • @stephenballard3759

    I always think of the FIRST people migrating into an area having ot pretty easy. Lots of naive animals both tontraps and hunting, no territorial disputes with the neighbors so no restrictions on where you go next.
    Some of the megafauna would be crazy dangerous, but things like giant sloths and glyptodons would be particularly easy marks for humans.

    • @jezzy9875
      @jezzy9875 Před rokem

      Except if you cross biomes. You'll have to figure out which crops you can rely on through what seasons and yearly cycles, what resources are worth the effort. Which areas have natural disasters. Where the migration patterns of large dangerous fauna to safely set up camp and hunt. Where and what the predators are. What plants are poisons, which animals are venomous. Humans are really resourceful and tough, when you get down to it, it's really amazing that we can learn to thrive everywhere.

    • @hannaheller4900
      @hannaheller4900 Před rokem

      Idk what Ryan will do about it, but I think if you use natural turkey feathers (no colouring, etc) it waterproof already.

    • @larryreese6146
      @larryreese6146 Před rokem

      Not Ryan but you can turn the arrows upside down in the quiver and lean them against a tree till the rain is over or put a plastic bag over them. If you spray them with scotchgaurd it'll help. But it'll also creates its own problems. If feathers aren't too badly crushed you can steam them over boiling water and gettem back in shape. The scotch gaurd messes that trick up.

    pretty sure that armadillo didnt need that .. i have followed you for years and i am a little shocked , perhaps armadillos dont feel fear or pain and you know this and i am just being a dumbass but i am sure being a hunter should mean respecting wildlife. tails on animals are actually quite sensitive , they are used to feel the space around them like an extra limb and for balance . this means lots of nerves and not to mention lots of ligaments and muscles to tear in between the tail vertebrae . imagine someone dangled you by the fingers and let you squirm and twist until you were dropped , the joints will strain and the tail being linked with the spine this can cause serious pain if not injury . no cause to put a creature distress unless it if you are killing it quickly for food . i dont like "cancel culture" and i will not call you names or wish evil things apon you i just ask you to respect all the wildlife and do better next time . a long time subscriber and fellow student in the flintknapping art
