      I thought the same. That one game in FLA last year they did a complete 180 and played awesome, but it was just the one game I do t know how that happens. They found it again this series and I loved the defence in 5+6, and Will, 7 was a bit shaky. I remember thinking man I haven’t seen them play like this since I was a kid. I think some adjustments are needed but not blow it up and start over- marker JT, Sammy, lligren maybebreilly , leave,couple solid changes should go a long way.

      a 2-1 OT win and another 2-1, I dont get it, in the regular season this team is only 2nd to the Avs in goals scored, why aren't they burying others teams by 4-7 goals like the Avs do during the playoffs. @80sLover329 Před 11 dny

      Changing the coach isn’t going to make a difference. Keefe may not be perfect… he may in fact be far from it. But he is not the problem. You can’t have half your cap in 4 forwards… with those forwards consistently underperforming when the stakes are highest. And all those four have no move clauses. Pelley, Shanny and Tre doing the Friday presser. Which means Keefe out but Shanny and core four stays in tact. Book it - next spring, Leafs will lose in the first round again - with the same core four. Only one explanation why Shanny isn’t fired: MLSE doesn’t care about contending for a Cup. That’s why this has been allowed to go on as long as it has.

      @@terryforchon937 Sorry the point i was trying to make is that player accountability is a team culture that is fostered and built through the regular season and multiple seasons. I didn’t mean to suggest that the coach would do those things in the post season, by that time you absolutely expect your best players to find another gear. I haven’t seen Keefe do this in any regular season therefore It doesn’t appear to me as an outsider that the Leafs have a culture of accountability. So saying that this is only on the players and not the coach I don’t agree with. There have been many examples of teams that do nothing to the roster, change coaches and they are a completely different team in terms of performance and results. In my opinion , Brendan Shanahan should be the first to go for giving way to much lead way for a very young and inexperienced GM Kyle Dubas to screw so many things up with contracts etc , secondly, the power play coach who really let the team down when we needed a PP, we need a bonafide goalie but also , real defensemen that can protect, lastly, our 3rd and 4th line are absolutely time wasters, I guess with so much money on 5 players including Morgan, hard to put a decent 3 and 4th line out there. I love Marner, but it is becoming more obvious that he was spoiled through JR’s due to his natural talent, but is not playoff caliber , he cares more about what hat and suit to wear to the games, I also love Morgan Riley, but he did not show up for the playoffs, so maybe his best days are behind him. Ok.. just some food for thought. I understand the way this team has been put together has clearly not been effective.. and paying 4-5 people the bulk of your salary cap long term in this day and age.. not the recipe for success. That said.. I think this team needs to get beyond the point where its carrying the weight of almost 60 years of unsuccessful history on its shoulders. The media just absolutely obliterates theses players and coaches. I don't know about you.. but I don't necessarily do my best work with people breathing down my neck. Is it their job..especially during crunch time to come up with the big performances? Simple answer is yes.. but the landscape in Toronto is absolutely ridiculous. Could you imagine being an up and coming.. member of a company.. full of promise and potential.. and dropped in the middle of a company that hasn't had success in almost 60 years, with people constantly reminding you of all of these short comings and after 6 or 7 of those ALMOST SIXTY YEARS people are turning on you pissed because you couldn't turn it all around? I get it.. they want to be paid handsomely for that promise and potential, and it lacks followthrough and execution, but the walls always seem like they are closing in with Toronto like that trash compactor scene from Star Wars. I'm not sure they are ever going to have success that way, and the fact they have enticed so many big name players to sign for periods of time regardless of how brief is surprising.

      That would be the sentiment but ... if it will cost the Leafs owners money to terminate his contract, would they see any value in doing that versus just waiting one more year. It's not a case of them actually needing playoff revenue to stay afloat unlike many NHL teams that don't have the fan base, season ticket holders nor the clout to demand exorbitant fees for the tickets.

    After more thought i almost hate to say i think we have to keep this group together again and run it back. We are a perpetual playoff team now, something we never use to be. WE just have to keep banging on the door becasue nobody can deny how close weve been from breaking through.

    Keefe's down time off ice of not finding solutions earlier to minister to his players for which he takes responsibility in this Boston Series, at least not until the leafs different playing strategies in game 5,6 &7 the team started to win shutting Boston's offense down. This result may have saved Keefe's his job.

    A fair comment on Keefe would be he doesn't seem to get the best out of many of his players. Barrie, Brodie, Giordano, Hyman, Mikheyev. A harsh statement would be Toronto has become a place where careers come to expire only to revive elsewhere.

  • @andrewmachado6988
    @andrewmachado6988 Před 12 dny +6

    This isn’t all Keefe’s fault. A coach’s job is to get the team ready to play a game. That same team has to go out and play that game and win. A coach can only do so much.
    If Keefe is relieved of his duties it’s sad seeing someone lose their job but I guess onto the next coach if that does happen. That’s 2 coaches fired under this group of players. Good luck finding someone to come and coach up here.
