YES. i agree one hundred percent. The way mahira khan delivered her dialogues when she had to come back into asher's life was brilliant. Even tho she was asking for his help not ONCE did she make it seem like she needs him despite that she does. She kept her head high no matter what. And my all time favourite conversation in Humsafar was:
"Mein tmhein maafi mangnay k liye nai keh raha khirad. Mei tmhein khud maaf kr raha hoo"
"Apki ala zarfi ka shukria. Ab hum chalein"
I love how she did not beg ashar this time to hear the truth. She truly did not care and had given up on him. And this right here felt real.

God I feel nostalgic, I vividly remember Humsafar being aired at 8 pm,I used to have my coaching class for O-levels at that time and my coaching center was in an apartment building, so we used to hear the ost of humsafar from the other apartments. Sometimes I got late for the class and literally I have seen empty roads in Karachi at 8 pm on Sunday. People glued their eyes to their tv screens when humsafar was onair, and I obviously missed it due to my class. Recently I binge watched it with my mother this year and we both cried our eyes out. Seriously it was a master piece.

Dressing is so important, Khirad’s looks are so different before marriage and after marriage. In today’s dramas, no matter how poor the family is, the girls of the household have full make up on, open blow dried hair/curls, manicured nails with nail paint. I saw a drama (forgot the name) where the girl is complaining to her mother about the food cooked. Apparently they can’t afford to cook meat and have to survive on dal. The girl had full make up on (blush , contour, mascara, etc ) and was wearing an expensive lawn suit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The whole conversation with Mahira and even with Sarmad was SO wholesome! They talk about Humsafar like it's their baby. I can do anything to rewind time and some how become a part of that beautiful journey of Humsafar!
I remember I was very young when it came on air, about 8 years old. It was a Saturday and Humsafar was on and we were at a relative's house watching it. We had to go back home and we made sure that we reached home in the duration of a break! The minute we reached home we turned on the TV and thankfully we were just in time.
Those times were truly beautiful. Humsafar will always have a special place in my heart❤️

    Fun Fact:
The title song of Humsafar "woh humsafar tha.." was not meant for two lovers or two people. It was written keeping in mind Pakistan and Bangladesh partition. Now everytime you listen to the song, look at it from perspective of two countries than two lovers.

When Bin Roye was released in Dallas, I went to the premiere and out of nowhere without any expectation this extremely loving sweet and warm hearted girl Mahira Khan hugged me out of nowhere - I was pleasantly surprised coz she’s such a big star and walking up to a fan she hugging so sweetly - I’ll never forget that moment - Also, during the Q and A, I asked her a question regarding how difficult or easy is it to breakdown in front of the camera? And she answered so intelligently and narrated the same story that she just did on today’s episode of SH-
she’s the real beauty with the brains! So proud of her -

What I love about Humsafar and YKS is that both were unexpected hits. No over promotions, no apne mun miyan mithu banna. Both gave us iconic couples. Another common point is that there's no physical intimacy between both couples yet so much chemistry, all through eyes. I like that kind of chemistry more than physical intimacy.
Shahzad Kashmiri is definitely another common thing. Love his shots. Especially the shots in YKS are breathtaking.

What a treat to watch! Thank you Aamna and Hassan for this amazing tribute to Hamsafar! I agree with all the points you made - the simplicity, which was so prevalent in our older dramas, was it’s strongest point. No twisted plot points, no multiple stories going on at one time, no over the top makeup or wardrobe, no dragging of the story. The intense chemistry of the lead couple was felt without them touching or hugging each other, and it wasn’t even needed because we felt the romance so much with their acting alone. This is what great acting is. Now my request for you is to please, please do a Haute Gold episode on Jackson Heights, which I truly feel is another classic. Thank you!

Doraha was my first drama after not watching dramas for a decade ! Watched it as an all nighter and then watched it again the next day with a friend . After that it was malal, followed by daam. All 3 were projects of Umera and mehreen. I remember messaging mehreen with a million questions about daam and doraha . She responded to all of them. Interestingly doraha was completely in the hands of umera and mehreen. They collaborated on the script and execution. Same for malal. I even had a question about the relationship dynamics of two main characters to which mehreen gave a reasoning which she and umera had decided on. Daam was their third project together and by then, they were a huge hit “jori”. Daam wrapped up shooting and mehreen was called back from NYC to shoot 90 more minutes because the producers wanted more episode of the hit mehreen/Umera Jodi. This was accomplished through repetitive scenes of a side character and his wife . Also flash backs . Despite that daam was a tightly knit show with a solid script. Far cry from today’s dramas
