@@dtv-gf1fs Hey Dan! I did it with a seperate Bluetooth Keyboard on the Steam Deck to Ctrl+V Paste it into WoW. You could also do everything on PC and then just transfer your WTF folder from PC to the Steam Deck.
The copy pasting is a actual nightmare. Without having it pre-configured there's no way to paste any of these settings into the game without an external keyboard....
I'm trying to paste in the string but its saying it is corrupted. Is this something you can update? Also, where do you paste the string to get the nameplates to work? Thank you for all of your hard work.
Thanks a bunch for the guide. Super Informative. A suggestion for the next one would be to go into depth on how you interact, how you key bind abilities, and how you choose what buttons to use that makes the game feel the most comfortable. While these videos may already exist, I think the steam deck aspect could appeal to more. Keep up the good work! (tri)

I just came back to wow with my Steam deck and this setup is really good! Thank you so much it's so good for leveling and farming when i'm not at home !
There are keybind profile savers as well as button layout savers. I sometimes user my partners account to play on their character and use these addons to switch button layouts when I log in on my desktop. But when she logs into her desktop it swaps back to the layout she had before saved onto that computer with the addon. Same thing should be possible with steamdeck and your personal computer.
You can't do that because it's saved per device, hence why your addons aren't account bound. Only workaround I've found is have a character designated strictly for my SD. If I'm wrong, please share how this is possible? I'd really like to play all characters on my SD and Desktop.
@frostyysnapps I play on both SD and PC l, just by using talent load outs for each, make sure you don't used shared action bars for the talents. I set up a talent load out for my warrior on my steamdeck, sort the bindings/bars out and then save them. Works for me
What class or spec did you enjoy most on the SteamDeck. Are there any new updates in your UI? Are certain specs easier to play on the Steam Deck (tanks/ melee/ ranged/ heals?)

Hey, that’s a valid question! As far as I know this should also work on woltk, since ElvUI has a woltk version and the profiles can be imported the same way. The other addons also have a woltk variant. I‘d love to hear if it worked when you try it out soon! :)
Have you tried docking the steam deck and playing WoW? I’m very curious as some hotels have decent screens that one could play 1080p docked into with keyboard and mount. Just thinking about playing Arena on my work travels. Do you have plans to make docked vids going forward? I’m subbed incase you do. If you downgraded graphics to 6, do you think you’d get 60th a in all scenarios e.g. raiding and such?
Hey! I didn't try this yet since I don't have the Dock yet. But I'll get it eventually and test it there too, especially because Dragonflight supports Controllers by default. Arena should not have any performance issues, since there are not too many characters at once. Raiding at 1080p could be - depending on the encounter - pretty performance intensive. I'll test it out in the future! :)
Thanks for your reply. I mean if raiding is possibly, but just requires lower settings - that's worth the sacrifice. If I'm playing wow on the go, I'm just getting it done, not bothered about how good it looks haha
After the strings are copied, the UI just freezes not able to get into talents or other tabs.. This also happens on pc. Could you maybe update your strings again?
Nino - since they disabled DynamicCam profile imports. Can you share your actual settings of DynamicCam? or if anyone else has them - would appreciate it!

When I try to copy and paste the string into ElvUI it does not copy/paste the entire string. I have tried multiple ways and each time get a "string corrupted" error. Can you give us a video or breakdown on how exactly you're getting this to work? Great video, can't wait till this works!
Hey Josh! That's weird, because I tried it a few times and it worked without issues. When you open the pastebin link in my description, there is a section where it says "RAW PASTE DATA" with a symbol right next to it. if you click that, the whole string gets copied, so you can paste it. I hope this helps. Tell me if its working :)
@@NinoMMO FIXED - I have the 512 Steam Deck and I copied and pasted the profile string then let the SD sit for a few minutes, it must take some time to paste the entire string. Once I let it sit and didn't close out of the keyboard, the string was pasted fully and the profile uploaded without issue. I know a few people were having the same issue so hopefully this clears it up!! AWESOME UI and guide. Thanks again!
Hi NinoMMO, What are your graphical settings? On the Steamdeck playing retail I get 60fps or at least above 50 with graphics at 10. Dragon flight for some reason doesn’t go above 40fps
Hey Ron! I'm playing at 7 on retail. I didn't test it on the beta yet though. Have you checked the resolution? Beta can be wonky sometimes, so i'd be sure to double check. Otherwise try 7 :)

Guys, I need help. I was able to configure flawlessly on the PS5 controller but not on the Deck itself. It does not function any buttons other the 4 XABY, and I can’t control the camera with R3. LR1/2 just don’t work. Tried to reset but still the same. Any help? Thanks!
same problem here. It doesn't work with any profiles.... I tried all controllers, the only button that works is the jump xD All other controlers just doesn't do the expected action
yo, I just figured out why it wasn't working ahhaha Steam button > controller settings > select Gamepad with joystick trackpad template This worked perfect for me because it was on WASD + Mouse

Hey, sadly i don't have curseforge installed because I find it easier to just drag and drop addons from windows to the Steam Deck. But there are some guides on how to install Curseforge. I will consider making a tutorial though if more people are interested in it!

You list all these addons but don't say where they're from or how I'm supposed to put them on my Deck. I have managed to get WoW/Bnet installed but I have no idea how to use these addons. I haven't played WoW in years and only plan to try this out on the PTR for now
Hey, I have all addons needed linked in the description of this video. After downloading them you have to put them into your game directory under /interface/Addons/.
You can pvp with it, but don't expect to beat good players with a mouse and keyboard. It's the same with shooters or any game really. playing on a console/controller has its disadvantages

I‘m having the same problems as the other people. I always get an error when pasting your profile.. no clue to get it to work Maybe there is a new ElvUI version and you need to update the code?

Phew, sadly I'm not too familar with linux, but pluggin in a keyboard should work usually. Maybe try the steam deck subreddit to ask the experts about this
i did this and it was great. until I walked back to my computer. sadly using consoleport messes up keybinds if u have a computer. unless I use a controller on both I have to constantly adjust between the two. no solutions yet
Hey, i had the problem initially too, but it was because i bound the controls the wrong way. You want to have your PC controls active and then bind skills in the ConsolePort Settings to the buttons instead of drag and dropping them into the interface. You can check their Discord for a more detailed explanation

Hey there are quite a few videos on how to add addons to the steamdeck. I also linked a guide in the comments for that. Basically it's just 1) download elvui 2) add it to your addons folder in wow. Works in both Linux and Windows
I got it to work. Need to move all 3 elvui folders (Elvui, Elvui Libraries, Elvui Options) into the addon folder. Now I’m Just worried about updating it. I wonder if the Tukui client can be installed for easier management?
@@grillvogel3455 there is probably a way to do it, but i would just do it manually if a big update comes out. Usually ElvUI is pretty stable without the need to update it on every occasion
You can use your left- and right mouseclick with the ConsolePort. I enabled the crosshair so you can just aim and rightclick with R3. You can see in the video where to enable the crosshair:)
This will be changing soon as well. DF is adding 2 really important features that’ll dramatically improve how it can work with a controller. One is being able to bind a key to interact with objects or NPCs and the other automatically targets wherever you’re looking, kind of like how ESO does it on console.
Anyone able to help me a bit? Whenever I copy the import string for the elvui profile it's not saved anymore when I go to paste in into wow. I guess switching from desktop mode to gaming mode gets rid of the copied string? Any help would be appreciated

You list all these addons but don't say where they're from or how I'm supposed to put them on my Deck. I have managed to get WoW/Bnet installed but I have no idea how to use these addons. I haven't played WoW in years and only plan to try this out on the PTR for now
Hey, I have all addons needed linked in the description of this video. After downloading them you have to put them into your game directory under /interface/Addons/.

My only concern is how I'll be able to PvP on the steam deck.
Pve has always been kinda easy in WoW, but PvP with a controller seems kinda hard
You can pvp with it, but don't expect to beat good players with a mouse and keyboard. It's the same with shooters or any game really. playing on a console/controller has its disadvantages

Hey, thanks a lot! It should work with classic aswell. People have used it in Woltk Classic as far as I know. The Procedure should be the same.

How do you download ElvUI on the steam deck?

Hey, i tried it again and it works. Make sure to copy the right string and import it into ElvUI. With right string i mean the whole big string and not just the pastebin url. Hope that helps!
How can I copy+paste your profiles on the SD? If I have chrome and WoW up at the same time it doesn't let me paste?
There are a few options here. I think this is the easiest one:
1) First of all, start WoW on your Steam Deck in desktop mode. Set it to Windowed in Display Mode in the Graphics options.
2) Now you can use the touch screen to tap outside of wow and open a browser like firefox.
3) navigate to my video and click on the pastebin link
4) copy the string and minimize your browser, so you see WoW again.
5) open elvui/dynamiccam and paste the string
6) profit and enjoy :D

Maybe there is a new ElvUI version and you need to update the code?
Hey, apparently there was an ElvUI update in Prepatch, that changed the import strings.
I‘m working on updating the Strings as soon as I can, but I‘m not at home right now.

I am having issues trying to copy an paste strings for your Elvui in game ,got dock now so tried doing with mouse an keyboard but it’s like Ctrl an V must be binded to something else cause can I not for the life of me do it 😢😢
Phew, sadly I'm not too familar with linux, but pluggin in a keyboard should work usually. Maybe try the steam deck subreddit to ask the experts about this

i did this and it was great. until I walked back to my computer. sadly using consoleport messes up keybinds if u have a computer. unless I use a controller on both I have to constantly adjust between the two. no solutions yet
Hey, i had the problem initially too, but it was because i bound the controls the wrong way.
You want to have your PC controls active and then bind skills in the ConsolePort Settings to the buttons instead of drag and dropping them into the interface.

Hey there are quite a few videos on how to add addons to the steamdeck. I also linked a guide in the comments for that.
Basically it's just 1) download elvui 2) add it to your addons folder in wow.
Works in both Linux and Windows

@@grillvogel3455 there is probably a way to do it, but i would just do it manually if a big update comes out. Usually ElvUI is pretty stable without the need to update it on every occasion

You can use your left- and right mouseclick with the ConsolePort. I enabled the crosshair so you can just aim and rightclick with R3.

This will be changing soon as well. DF is adding 2 really important features that’ll dramatically improve how it can work with a controller. One is being able to bind a key to interact with objects or NPCs and the other automatically targets wherever you’re looking, kind of like how ESO does it on console.
Anyone able to help me a bit? Whenever I copy the import string for the elvui profile it's not saved anymore when I go to paste in into wow. I guess switching from desktop mode to gaming mode gets rid of the copied string? Any help would be appreciated
I'm having the same issues. I thought id try to in game mail the profiles but the character length is too long for an in game mail.
