      @@Heinvanast it's not because "they are too quick", it's because they're fighting for points in their own race, im so sick of casuals mouthing off like they know what they're talking about, fernando fought lewis in the McLaren and alpine because he had nothing to lose in those races, if sainz fought lewis at hungary, it would have made it much easier for nando to catch him in the closing laps

      @@johnlau8461 if you are the car behind in the drs detection zone, then you get the drs. Lewis and Fernando both slowed down for the other to get ahead of them, but soon changed their minds in that split moment

    4:45 Love this - Hamilton lifts off to try and let Alonso edge ahead before the DRS line. Alonso spots it immediately and also backs off to make sure he gets the DRS instead. These two never miss a trick.

      @Marcus Summers You’re just salty Alonso cost Hamilton the win with his master defence. I doubt you’ve watched F1 for a long time because if you had you’d know every driver which has something to lose if they get overtaken (in Alonso’s case Alpine’s first win) will defend, it’s not a motorway, it’s an f1 race, if someone is faster, you do everything possible to keep them behind. Simple as that 🙂. Hope this helps you understand!

      I definitely would not call BEAUTIFUL the bowling strike at start with the BOT suddenly forgetting that he should break for the first corner in the first lap on a wet track, while both Redbulls and Lando align in a straight line in front of him...........but those Alonso defensive moves and the pathetic whining of the S.H.E.E.P. was worth it indeed so fair enough! xD

    That 2007 McLaren line-up of Hamilton and Alonso was crazy. In terms of sheer driver quality, it was the best F1 driver line-up since Prost and Senna. The car was absolutely gorgeous, as well.

      @@ScottOrd Yep! There's a detection line, where they detect who's where and what the gaps are, and then an activation line, where drivers can push the button to activate DRS.

      Yup, exactly. Ham and Alo race each other very fairly but super hard at the same time. Unfortunately, Max likes to push the other driver if he is on the inside.       @@mindujiman cos a team and driver did a better job in those seasons. Hamilton took himself out of the 2010 championship with the incidents he had in Italy and Singapore. 2011, Hamilton had a bad year whilst Vettel and Red bull were pretty much perfect (which red bull/Vettel don’t get enough credit for given how much praise Mercedes/Hamilton got for 2020) . 2012 was where McLaren dropped the ball and sealed Hamilton’s decision to move to Mercedes. F1 has always been about the best driver car combination

    Alonso in the McLaren and Alpine holding Lewis back in a Mercedes shows us who the better driver is between them. One was always a car champion and the other one takes so much more out the cars that he has in the years.

      Not a Hamilton fan, but in 2007 Hamilton 6 poles vs Alonso's 2 poles. Sure the team might have favored Lewis but he was still a rookie. In qualifying pace, Hamilton is incredibly quick, maybe the fastest in history (if you perhaps exclude Senna or maybe Schumacher). Alonso is the better racer, he is a masterful tactician, you saw that in Qatar 2021 and many times in 2023.

      @@hamza-chaudhry He moved over to Ham in a straight line. You cant blame Ham. He tried that same move 2 times before and he kept backing out each time to avoid contact. But the third time, Alonso did move and banged wheels with him that too in such a flowy corner where there isn't much breaking involved. If you didn't know what a small touch of wheels can do then go look over to Webber and Vettel in Turkey or even Vettel and Leclerc in Brazil. Both are examples of why you shouldn't move in a straight line when a car is alongside. Understandibly, like he always does, Ham moaned lol. Even Alonso would do the same if he was fighting for a championship. And no, Ham wasn't trying to get alonso a penalty. He just wanted alonso to be warned by a black and white flag

      @@tonyhawk123 they all have there moments. But his point still stands and it is absolutely true. Perhaps that is also a factor they are still in the sport, combine a talented old but gold driver who is a former world champion and the sponsors will be standing in line for the team. The amount of money they can bring in, combined with the popularity with the fans and a still incredible race pace in every car you put them in. They probably wont be going away anytime soon, at least i hope so.

      And its alright when the rules are calling it "deliberate driving into others (in rage)" and he gets penalized accordingly (edit: for clarification it HAS to be that way) but its quite a bit of a joke when fans say that in a serious manner.
      Something like this has no place on the race track, but you make it sound he has deliberatly crashed someone with 250kph and not bumping a tire while under SC speed. And swearing? Kimi and Fernando... aight?

Although Ferrari weren’t doing better, with McLaren leaving Mercedes power it was more obvious to stay w Ferrari, who became competitive in 2017/18. But Alonso was already frustrated of 5 seasons without a truly fast car that could win a championship.

      @@daniel6323 and he couldn't even be mad at McLaren for doing so bad since it was mostly down to the Honda engines braking down and under performing badly. We saw what Alonso can do in a car thats slower then a Mercedes last week (granted overtaking isn't easy in Hungary) but with that car holding Lewis off for as long as he did. I hope we get to see more of his Wide car defending, and hopefully some pole positions as well.

      his timing was always off...leaving mcleran the first time, leaving ferrari ... ferrari's own people said that if it had been him in that car instead of seb, he would have won at least 2 more championships! and lewis hamilton himself says that alonso is the best driver he has ever raced against. i think most people who understand racing would concur.

    7:38 is a perfect example (you can see Hamilton do the same to Alonso in the example shown at Canada at the final hairpin) of race craft. Parking it on the apex and pausing for a second before accelerating. This forces the car behind to get off throttle so they don't run into the car ahead, ruining their momentum.

    This shows why imo Alonso is one of the all time greatest, even without the high number of championships. His skills and ability is unrivaled. Even MSC himself struggles more after his comeback. It’s easy to pick one moment that contradicts my statement and I know I’m probably factually wrong, but based on an average that spans decades, I think we can all agree Fernando is able to far outperform his cars, and that’s (almost) unrivaled. I don’t think Max nor Lewis not any other driver, at least from since I was following the sport (2nd half of ‘90s), has been as consistent as Fernando in grossly overachieving with their cars.

    The 2007 McLaren(the MP4-22) is the most beautiful F1 car ever imo. I absolutely looooved how futuristic and space age science fiction the cars looked during the 2007 season. They were like spaceships. It's how an F1 car should look. Aesthetics, style & design wise they were and still are the best looking F1 cars ever imo, Especially the chrome and red McLaren. It's so much more beautiful compared to today's much uglier cars. And even though the 2007 car such as that McLaren are way, waaaaay slower than today's cars they still just look super fast because of said aesthetics, style and design, they look mean, agile, so badass, purposeful and aggressive.. I love that vibe, you don't get that from the current cars imo. Maybe only the all black Mercedes of last season has recaptured that feeling to a lesser extent.

    Two legends who'll remember these battles (particularly Hungary 2021) years after they've eventually retired. Hungary 2021 reminded me so much of the Gilles Villeneuve - Rene Arnoux battle in Dijon, 1979.

      Current f1 is amazing in giving the fans all the content they want. Understanding the power of social media and CZcams/Netflix. Combine that with plans of going more green, spending less money overall and changing up the tracks, with this year alone multiple tracks that hasn't seen f1 in a while.
      Makes for great viewing pleasure off and on track for the fans.
      And i am loving it.

      1- They are in my language(Turkish)
      2- It's not nice to share them here.
      So Google is your friend. There are many sites which I watch time to time when I want a english commentetor.

    Despite being a big Alonso fan, that 2007 Indianapolis fight is the prove of how talented Hamilton is.
    Rookie driver, defending against the 2 time defending world champion at the time, Alonso at the top of his game just pure master class.
    How fortunate we are to see this kinda battles.

      Has nothing to do with that here. Fernando couldn't pass lewis here period. Fernando had preferential treatment in qualifyings and the races for the first 6 Gps by getting lighter fuel load thank lewis. Canada Was the first race they both had equal fuel loads and lewis put it on pole and won the race emphatically. Let's stop the lies. These are the best in the sport in the last 20 years hands down, so let's not lower the debate to minions levels.

      @@truth4reel dude these cars has lots and lots of adjustments not only fuel. Drivers can only give feedback about the car then engineers will adjust the wings and stuff. So If a team decide to slow down a driver they can do it sooo easily. I'm not saying they did this to Alonso but it's doable.

      @@dawidkulas1492 They have all shown enough. Leclerc maybe not, but I believe he could. Hamilton beat Alonso in the same car and has had stronger teammates than Alonso has had. Also, Hamilton can manage a team and develop a car. The two major weaknesses of Alonso.

    Its amazing that the battels of these two are most of them with Fernando having a car that had no right to be even on the points positions, and Hamilton with that dominants mercedes era

      in three out of the five battles, (canada, germany, mexico) lewis was in the slower car. in one they were in the same car. only in hungary did alonso have a slower car. in mexico lewis was damaged heavily thats why they were fighting for 9th. i dont know which f1 you were watching

      Alonso drove the same car as Hamilton and lost. Not only that but he couldn't handle how competitive Hamilton was so ran away from his 3 year contract back to Renault where he had to watch Hamilton win a title with McLaren instead of him the next year.
      Alonso fans need to stop this nonsense. Hamilton beat him. End of story. You can make up all the narratives you want about Alonso driving different cars to Hamilton but the best comparison of two drivers is when they share the same car and they have already done that. We've already seen it. Alonso lost and ran away like a chicken.
