- The Cocodona 250 is regarded as the longest and toughest of the 200 mile distance endurance events.
Starting just North of Phoenix Arizona and ending in Flagstaff, this race traverses several ecosystems and terrain. From exposed desert to pine forests and mountains.
With nearly 40,000 feet of elevation gain and a 125 hour time limit, this race will test one’s physical endurance and mental toughness.
This would be my 3rd attempt at a 200 mile distance event. Having dropped from the Moab 240 and Tahoe 200 in years past, I was determined to get across the finish.
Follow my journey as I experience 5 fantastic days in my effort to reach Flagstaff. All the while remembering to take it one step, one mile, and one day at a time.

Excellent video! Thanks for sharing. I'm inspired ✨️
Thanks so much for documenting your adventure Matt! I too, have been sober for about 5 years now. Running and ultras have been a big anchor for me. I appreciate you
Thanks for watching. Congrats on your Sobriety. Yes, Ultra's help 'reset' me from time to time. And reminds me of what I'm grateful for. See you out there someday!
Very well done video Matt! That was very enjoyable to watch and very inspiring! And congrats on your 5 year sobriety! I was on the Eldon crest 36 last year and am signed uo for the Sedona Canyons 125. My first 100! At 65 it's gonna be a challange! Thanks again for sharing your adventure and Congratulations!
Thanks for the kind words! The Sedona Canyons is a great first 100. Although you don't go up Elden this year. Which is good, and bad I guess. But still a great distance. Hope to see you out there!
I'm 67 and hoping to do my first ultra next year; a 50K probably. Good luck at Sedona Canyons!!
The trail community and kindness is what absolutely made me fall in love with the ultra sport. Thank you for having the compassion to sacrifice your time to help a sick a runner. Congratulations on your RUNventure!
Thank you for watching. Yes I love our sport and the people in it. It’s why I’m honored to call it my tribe. ❤

Couldn’t have done it without your help Jon.

Really enjoyed this Matt. I'm toeing the line in 2024. Currently feeling a mixture of excitement, fear, anticipation... this was a wonderful recap. Kudos!
All great emotions! You'll love the race. It will change your life!!!!!
I'm so proud of you for your accomplishments and dedication to a better life. I know your mom is beaming with pride. Also so thankful of your influence and the inspiration you've been for Mike. Can't begin to tell you how much it means to me. You both are awesome!
Ah, thanks Char. I think that she'd think I was a little crazy, but I think that's always been the case! And what a great job Mike did. Huh? And yes, I'm excited to introduce him more and more to this fantastic lifestyle. He will get to spend a week out here in May seeing all of us crazies do it again.
Well done, sir. Excellent documentary of your Cocodona 250 adventure!
Thank you very much for watching!
Thanks for putting that together. Very inspiring for sure. Congratulations on a great race!

I appreciate you following the journey as well.
Wonderful document of your journey Matt! Thank you for sharing with us.
Thanks Wes. Much of the inspiration was from your fantastic video series. See you out there in a month!
This is amazing Matt! Super inspiring.
Thank you. Appreciate you watching!
Excellant video!
Very real… loved it
Txs
Glad you enjoyed it!
The thumbnail for this video popped up on my screen. Congrats on finishing Cocodona! Great job filming too. Love how you had your entire team in the credits (plus Aravaipa and the volunteers). I watch as much of the livestream each year as I can; I've become a huge fan of the event. I've been a runner off and on for many years. At age 67 I've never run an ultra but am hoping to do one next year; 50K or 50 miler. Also congrats for 5 years sober that's very cool.
Thank you for the nice feedback. About to toe the line again in 3 days. Bib 269. Congrats on tackling an Ultra distance. You can do it! My brother will be videoing this year, so stay tuned for another video...
Epic video, congratulations.
Thanks for watching !
You make me want to run this race. Thanks for creating this incredibly inspiring video! And, for mentioning water booties. What a great idea!
It’s a great race! You get to see so much and it goes through so many towns. Easy to crew. Thanks for watching.
Congratulations. A lot of highlights but “not actual bear” was amazing.
Thank you !
I had no time to photograph the actual bear. Was quite the shock 😮
Fantastic video Matt! As an over 50 runner that found running just a few years ago and transitioned to ultras, very inspiring. I'm possibly eyeing Sedona Canyons in 2025 as my first 100.
Thanks! The Sedona race is beautiful. I was a bit tired to take it all in though.... See you out there someday.
Currently on a treadmill wearing a sweatsuit prepping to help pace my bro this year at Cocodona. Great video.
Pacer's are the guardians of the angels out there, I can attest. See you out there!
@runnermatt101 yes brother 🤙
Mike sent me here 😊
Glad you stopped by!

Great documentary, Matt. Hopefully I’ll get to hang with during the journey at Cocodona 250! I thoroughly appreciated how you broke up your days.

My number is 172. You?

Matt, you are a true badass and I am proud to have you as my brother! Thank you for inspiring me to better myself. And congratulations on everything you have accomplished these past years!
Thanks my brother. You did a fantastic job on the video. Thanks for all of your hard work. Can't wait to have you join in on the craziness this year!
Good work buddy!
Thanks man.
MATT‼️Fabulous‼️ what time did you make it to Crown King w/Andrea? That was me in the white shirt & are warmers, Shawn, I DNF’d 2x (made to Sedona) I’m gettin it THIS YEAR‼️Great recap‼️
Hey Shawn. I think Crown King was just after sunset, so maybe 8pm? Hopefully see you out there this year and share some miles and stories. 3rd time is the charm they say. Was for me after DNF'ng Tahoe and Moab. 3 F's. Feet, Food, Forward motion. That's all I kept reminding myself. You got this.
@@runnermatt101 thx Matt‼️ my thoughts exactly 3rd time is the Charm! See you out there‼️👍🏾
