The best game I've ever played. My childhood, my bright memories. Unfortunately other company got a law for Painkiller and just turned it into a shit. In Hell&Damnation Daniel woke up in a hospital from a coma, but in original Painkiller Eve said that he died approximately 30 years ago.
Good to know that while the slayer took a break from Hell Daniel was waging the war of Purgatory. "So why'd you end up fighting the demons?" "Died. Then when I got to the other side I had to save a girl." "Same here. But it wasn't a girl. It was to avenge my rabbit."
Played the game on trauma difficult, best game experience in my life. Honestly I think that Daniel reuniting with Catherine after killing Alastor and his hellish goons is the Canon ending.
unfortunately it's not canon ending. The ordinary ending taken into consideration i nBooH addon is the right one. I hope one day they will make "real" sequel of this game, not some stupid "sequel remaster remake" or something like this.
My eyes have seen clearly, those cutscenes weren't good, but there was some charm, style.. Small Polish team somehow managed in making simply right atmosphere for this fps. RIP Painkiller, since 2004 there were nothing positive happened in entire series ;(
because the first Painkiller was made with passion and the refreshed version only for cash for those times when this game was made as well as budget they operated the cutscenes as well as voice actors were well made and in the new game not only the cutscenes are bad, but even the voice actors are average except for the person responsible for Belial ;)
@@vendetta97pltusk13 heh, they didn't even wait for ten years to pass since the original was released to remake it, plus if they waited until 2014 with it, they could've used Unreal Engine 4 instead of 3... or better yet, should've updated Pain Engine so the game wouldn't be broken.
Y’know, I always wondered why people hate this games story so much. It’s not winning any awards, sure. It’s not that multilayered, nor does it make us question something existentially. But it does it’s job, and although there are a few plot holes, it mostly makes sense, and can offer some interesting interpretations.
16:45 absolute favorite cutscene for me. the setting, the character dynamic, and choice of music are excellent. Also, a guy in leather jacket aiming a double barreled shotgun at an angel who looks like 7 feet tall Marilyn Manson is the most 2004 angsty things you'll ever see

The fact they're so casual about it makes me figure this wasn't their first time meeting but I feel like that wasn't explained too well. At the first time I saw it I had thought part of the cutscene was missing or something, or that I myself had missed something earlier.
Its cause Daniel has been stuck in that dimension. That's why he said "why did it take this long" and all that. Plus angel guy said "he managed to survive THIS LONG" and "I know you've been here long and I assume you want to leave"
many games ommit certain context only to reveal it later or allude to it in dialogue. in Halo CE we never see the Pillar of Autumn escape Reach, in Mass Effect, we don't see the Normandy created by joint human/turian effort, in Deus Ex we don't see JC Denton being appointed as the nanotech agent, in Far Cry we don't see Valerie hire Jack Carver to take her to the islands where the game is set, in Half-Life 2 we don't see the Earth get taken over by aliens, and so on. we are mostly thrust right into the action, or right before it starts, and we have to keep playing to figure out why
watching the cinematics makes me reistall the game again :) i need to play it :) i mabey even buy the console version - depending on how the game is portet over,i didnt like the old port from the old xbox so much ! and i didnt like how the changed the cinematic etc.. yeah ok lets see - at least i have my original old copy with the expansion !
i love the cinematics and the game ! i thought it was one of the most underated games ever ! i cant remeber exactly and im to lazy to look at metacritic but as i remeber i think it rated in most reviews around 6 or 7 - it should had at least rated with an 8 or an 8,5 but i could live with an 8 ! But 7 ? or some of them even lower like a 6 or 6,5 is far to low ! Its an old game now but for the time it came out it had a pretty good graphic with lots of enemys on screens etc..
some say it's fitting, Lucifer was hiding behind his generals' backs, even hiding *from* his own generals who thought him too weak to rule Hell, and then he ends up dying to his own recless mistake (throwing his sword at Daniel/revealing himself at a moment of false security and kidnapping Eve)

Well, yes and no. I don't remember the exact number of levels, but the objective is to usually clear between 1-5 levels of basically trash demons and then kill the boss who rules over those levels/realms.
I just want to express this idea I've thought of... no intention of offending anyone or start an argue... But all i see in every video that has something relating to God/religion, is non-believing people, attacking the comments who show some beliefe by saying Imaginary friend or some other kind of insult to said topic. It's sad, as i said... in my opinion.
The voice-actor of Daniel Garner is Cam Clarke, who did earlier the voice of the twin brothets Bim and Pavel from Neverwinter Nights.
I heard that he also voiced Liquid Snake.

Same here...I was practicaly raised by this game, I had the painkiller black edition...This was the first game I ever played in my life.
