Every time I see rumor of a Phantasy Star remake or reboot and see it's yet -another- take on PSO, I tune out. I've been waiting over 20 years for Sega to realize that yes, the Phantasy Star RPGs were actually good and they do deserve a quality sequel or reboot. Also: love your stuff. :)
I love the single-player RPG series quite a bit... but I also put in over 10,000 hours into PSO across Dreamcast and GameCube, so I'll very gladly take an updated classic again. Maybe we'll get Blue Burst material and who knows what else if it is indeed true.
DQ3 Remake placement holder at PlayAsia is old news David. It’s been there since 2021 though i cannot disregard or disrupt your hype for it cuz we all are.

I'm up for either one. I think it'd be great if they threw back into the regular RPG market with an old classic, but I love PSO as well. I'd love to see how absurd it'd be to throw a combat style like Phantom into the old PSO or a new, regular Phantasy Star series action RPG. :D

Dragon quest 3 3 HD 2D is such a tease, they showed it off years ago and we haven't heard anything since other than "Yeah it's still happening" Then they have the decency to say they're also doing 1 and 2 in HD 2D without showing a release date for 3. We just want it lol! (Also 4 5 and 6 in HD 2D while you're at it lol)
ya i will not be paying any more attention to dragon quest 3 hd 2d remake until they show something new.while i think it is great that they are doing remakes like this i would like them to show some progress if thy have not don't bother saying anything imo.
I would cry if we got an HD2D DQ5! That game is absolutely amazing.
I'd rather have the DS remakes ported to Switch, I like the 3D environments and the detailed enemy animations. Don't replace any of it with trashfire mobile looking art like with 1-3

that has bean known for a while now.i still don't understand why people want the same thing they got 20 years ago and not a remake. i think final fantasy 7 remake and rebirth were excellent games they did a great job on them.

Anime and jrpgs is like peanut butter and jelly. They just just both go together naturally. Also the FF9 remaster is how it’s supposed to be. Wish they would have done that with FF7.

The Mana series has one of my fav artstyles in gaming, if not general media. Visions of Mana is definitely my most hyped game of the year so far!

Man I still play PSO on my Dreamcast every now and then. A remake of the original PSO would just blow my mind.
Megaton Musashi is a mediamix project as Level 5 likes to do yeah. I'm still amazed the entire thing survived production hell.

While playasia is listed it NOTHING is official until Square Enix says it has a DQ3 remake release date BUT Dragon quest day in Japan is only like 2 months from now on the 25th of may.

Just to comment on FF14 featuring FF9 stuff: There is an area in the new Dawntrail expansion called Solution 9, which is one of Zidane's attacks in FF9. The Viper job that's being introduced uses a dual-dagger weapon like Zidane uses in FF9. FF14 usually does out of nowhere twists that aren't hinted at in the trailers at all for the latter half of the game. I am hoping for the FF9 remake, but the hints could just as easily be at a FF inspired zone, or FF inspired characters that show up in the latter half of the expansion.
square-enix did say in december that dragon quest 3 hd-2d remake was being play tested so one would assume it would come out not to long in the future....
relly they sad dragon quest 3 was being play tested had no idea they are finished with the game except for play testing if true that is great news.
I hope phantasy Star online remake of the dreamcast game has an offline mode like the original but they gotta make it so you can actually pause while playing in offline mode so you can use the bathroom and drink water
Well, that's neat to hear about. :) I'd love either a new Phantasy Star RPG standalone or a re-imagining of old PSO with a bunch of those juicy new PSO mechanics. I'm also certain we'd still get some bonus encounters with PSO2 enemies, since they love doing that.
I played the first Phantasy Star Online game on the Dreamcast, got to the final boss in offline mode and couldn't beat it. Personally I'd prefer a Phantasy Star 5, or at least Remasters of 1 through 4. Imagine if Phantasy Star 1 through 4 got the Pixel Remaster treatment with updated features etc! That would be so cool!

Corpse party 2, I'm shocked that you're covering that series. It's mostly visual novel with occasional puzzle mechanics. The original pc version was also visual novel until the end being more rpg. Hope you had a great weekend David and thanks for latest rpg news. ❤

the most importat thing in ffix remake is that the random battles need to start faster. That's about it. No story changes. No alternate timelines. No dementors. Thank you very much.

But aside from immersion differences, it's nice that it also gives more work for the English VAs. I still appreciate how in Tactics Ogre Reborn they show the VA credits right away when you start the game.

I'm looking forward to Dragon Quest 3 HD but I'm skeptical on Play-Asia preorders. Ever since I got disappointed in the PS4 FF pixel remaster cancellation, its hard to believe.

I like the online ps games. I played a shit ton of pso on dreamcast and xbox, ps universe on 360 and pso2 on series x so i do like them but I just want a Phantasy Star 5 or do a remake of the old games like their doing dragon quest
I've been watching Mega Marino play Final Fantasy 7 remake. This game is FF15 battle system applied to FF7R. Except you can control your party members in real time.
I loved Phantasy II and IV. I would also love a remake of the Lufia games.

Stellar Blade is freaking awesome. Visuals aside, combat is a lot of fun and story looked compelling from what i saw in the demo.
Maybe Dragon Quest3HD and/or FF9 R going to be revealed during Nintendo Direct, since Nintendo likes to give us surprise.. 😊

PS1 was my first JRPG, PS2 was the first game that made me cry and PS4 is actually my second favorite 16-bit RPG. I LOVE Phantasy Star and I'd love a new one.

FInally, Level-5 is bringing Megaton Musashi (W) to western audiences, I remember when I downloaded the PS4 demo of the original game, as soon as that dropped on japanese PSN. Game was tons of fun.
Also, 100% behinhd you. It should have been a reboot/sequel to the original turn based games. FFS, just re-release that PS2 Sega Ages Phantasy Star remakes and I would be a happy man.

I absolutely welcome a mostly faithful remake of FFIX. The VIIR Trilogy has been very, very solid, but a lot of it is unnecessary. IX's remake can be simple, graphical overhaul, good refinements in gameplay, & expand on what's already there. Visions of Mana looks promising and I'm here for it. Phantasy Star really should get another mainline game already. Lastly, They WILL release that DQIII remake and it's gonna be quality. Square has so far not missed a mark when it comes to remakes this decade. Great news as always David.

I am so happy they're not going down the FFVII path and keeping the plot relatively the same. Not that the FFVII remake was bad, per say, but it would've been cooler to have a FFVII with the original plot in high definition graphics and voice acting.

PSO2 is okay, but I don't even know what to do in that game anymore. If Sega says, "we're remaking PSO classic, but tweaking some things"... I'd be a happy camper.😊
