I just finished putting together 2 RM-6 matched pair. This is an excellent instruction guide. These mics sound superb. Natural, unhyped, non-harsh highs and an openness on acoustic instruments. Easy diy kit for a sound like very very expensive mics.

Awesome! Best sound I have heard on youtube. I have been recording acoustic guitar for 30 years, but I think, this can't be topped. It shows what it takes: A superb player and singer, a great sounding guitar, a good room with wooden diffusors, and the RM-6 as a pair. The extra room-effect on guitar and vocal sounds great, wonder how it was achieved. And what micpreamp was used.

Great video! The two steel barrels covers are very tightly adjusted on mine, and because the weather is very hot this time, the steel expand and its impossible to remove them by hand like you do in the video. I put them to the fridge for a short time and I'll see if I can remove them. So for those who want to build this I encourage you to chose a tempered environnement.

I'm very excited to learn about these as I wanted a stereo pair of ribbon mics to record the guitars I build this makes it possible.

Can these handle drums & electric guitar close-miked? They sound awesome but seem a bit delicate

Magically the bottom and top cap just slip right off.... which ever model this is. Mine isn't coming off and all hex screws are totally out.

It could be the cold weather. Place mic in front of a space heater for 20 minutes.

Are you sure that your soldering is correct? In the manual on the bumblebee website the black/red cables are connected to the XLR jack!

You should double check with Artur Fisher. The transformer in the video is a new model from what was in the older instructions. I actually first hooked it up with the red and black to the XLR and it was backwards. So, consult Artur.
