    Thank you so much for posting this Jocelyn! I just recently started making earrings, and would get so frustrated trying to straighten the wire. I ended up wasting a lot of wire because I could not get it straight. I tried using the nylon pliers, but still ended up with some kinks. Now I know a simple, but extremely effective way of fixing this problem!

      @@s.sradon9782 also what's wrong with needing step by step instructions on straightening wires? You can straighten a wire willy-nilly but not to the point that it looks brand new and kink-free. You see, not every single knowledge in this world is common sense to people, and needing these videos is called searching for easier and time saving ways that actually produces more effective results. 😉

      in a sense it is.
      assuming that you have a 3d printer, basic carpentry tools, basic metaslworking tools or a knife and access to msoft pine i will be uploading the files of a basic tool to ww.thingiverse.com
      the tool is a part of a larger automatic machine in the works and is very simple to build and significantly more effective and precise, with the (hopefully) type of precision that allows unsupervised and completely automated winding of multilayered inductors with less that 0.05mm of angular deformation. I like engineering.

  • @onesundance
    @onesundance Před 7 lety +1

    One step better is when you start with round nose pliers bend half way around, and then using flush cutters cut off straight part ( 1/4 of your bend ) this make all the end of your wire round.

    • @FantasiaElegance
      @FantasiaElegance  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Phil! Thanks! It should work with hard wire; you'll just want to be careful not to overdo it with the straightening motion as it does work harden the wire slightly, so you may end up with something that's harder to work with than you want.

    • @uptownphotography
      @uptownphotography Před 3 lety

      @@FantasiaElegance I may have to try the nylon tipped pliers as the other method only gets the Full Hard wire so straight, (there's still a curve from being coiled up so long) I guess because of the hardness. I did have marginal success with twisting the wire in a drill, but it was hit or miss and most times it was unsuccessful.
      Kind of a drag as I really wanted to have straight wire for this scratch built HO scale bridge i had built. The floral wire I had used was too soft and bent out of shape too easily. Thanks.

    so essentially this can be easily automated by feeding wire through a set of 2 V-slots, which is a passive mechanism when it can be incorporated into any mechanism where wire is already fed through a system which can spare some torque. as an engineer your technique is crude and very inefficient and the video fails to effectively convey the mechanical principal of angular deformation of wire and the reverse engineering of this principal to undo it, however all that i wanted to know was if one can straighten a length of wire without exertion of shear forces unto the wire, since a fellow comrade mentioned that only shear deformation of wire can reform it into a straight shape.
