After activating bluetooth as shown in your video I'm wondering where the results should appear. Nothing seems to be added to HA (I've restarted everything, Shelly logging shows many devices).
So the only config is on the Shelly + add the Shelly in HA? (or do I need something in configuration.yaml or config in some other integration?)
Just tried with two Shelly pro 4PM to integrate a Bluetti battery that is near. In 4PM with 1.1 firmware set all bluetooth options BT, RPC , gateway, in Shelly integration set active or pasive but no positive result. The Bluetti was integrated only when I took an ESP32 proxy in the BT range. Is there a possibility to check if the Shelly is working as proxy?
I have been using my shellys as Bluetooth proxies ever since the update and it's worked great so far.
My Bluetooth coverage has improved significantly and I have an excuse to use a few extra SwitchBot devices now.
Win-Win :)
Haha nice one☝️expanding smart devices sometimes needs excuses & proof to pass the WAF (wife approving factor). Btw which Shellies gen2 devices are you using?
@@KPeyanski Haha, yes. You are right! I'm using Shelly 1 PMs
Great, thanks for sharing :)
Is it possible to connect switchbot devices using only shellies? My USB Bluetooth adapter is no good so it would be great if i could just use those to connect without a USB adapter
I just got the Shelby Plug US to extend my Bluetooth signal and use the Switchbot Bluetooth Integration with HA. I have 3 Shelby Plugs, each close to each blind, but the tilts still show very poor signal strength. Do you know if there are any issues with Switchbot and Bluetooth proxies?
Hi master!
I have a couple of Sheelies configured without issues.
Just need to know how to pair the devices to the Bluetooth.
I got 4 BT Xiaomi temperature and humidity sensors working already through the Raspi Bluetooth, but when battery lowers a little they stop receiving the signal as they are far, that’s why I would like to make them work with one of the Shelly.
I found your steps in several places but nothing later to add the devices or move them from one adaptor to other.
Can you help on this?
Many thanks for all your videos!!!!!
Does the Shelly miss some Bluetooth broadcasts because it has to switch its radio between WiFi and Bluetooth? I've had to switch over to wired Ethernet backhaul for Bluetooth proxies on ESPhome for this reason.
Hello. I have a question, when using Bluetooth only Shelly devices are detected and retransmitted, or any Bluetooth device in the Shelly range? I am asking because I have some Bluetooth thermometer and I want to know if I can use Shelly devices to read the values. Thanks for the video.
What if i do not use HA, and use only Shelly app ? I have some temperature sensor Xiaomi, which work only with BT. Can i seen in Shelly app than this additional data from this sensors ?
Thanks for the video, helped me solve my problem, half way through the video I was about to purchase some ESP32's but the a light came on in my head and I thought about all the Shelly devices I had around the system, wished I had read the comments here as I see many have already done this.
Thanks for nice video. Will the shelly gen2 device discover also other bluetooth devices like some light bluetooth speaker, chinese bluetooth adapter for speakers, bluetooth device who controls the water quality and measure temperature, ph of water and chlorine, or what bloutoothe debice you recomend to pair and connect with such easy BT devices? Thanks in advance Martin
Hey, I love your channel !!
The new shelly firmware has two options:
- Enable Bluetooth
- Enable Bluetooth Gateway
Which one I should enable ? Both ?
Also, there's a way to check if proxy is working ?
Thanks
"Enable Bluetooth" is to allow the actual bluetooth radio to be on/off, which is needed for "Enable Bluetooth Gateway", which allows the device to act as a Bluetooth Proxy for Home Assistant.
@@bamhm182 Thank’s 😍
Thanks a lot!!!
I just got my first Shelly 1 Plus yesterday and I saw I have this option.
if I will have more Shellys, they can set a "mesh" BT network? I'm asking because if where I put my Shelly it will be a bit far from where I'm going to be with my Apple Watch....can set a network as same as I do with Zigbee devices (with permanent power supply, not batteries).
Enjoy!
@@KPeyanski Just to be sure, can I take place the BLE integration and start using the Apple Watch as you instructed on the other video???
Hello, it does not seem I can find bluetooth option (shelly 2.5pm). Is that normal?
Great video. How many Bluetooth devices are supported per Shelly v2? Many thanks
Is theres any Shelly gen2 zigbee2mqtt and compatible with bluetooh proxy? Thanks in advance
No, all Shelly devices are using WIFI for now and there are no Shelly Zigbee
Good to know! Do you know if enabling this, does it affect the how the Shelly operates?
No, it doesn't affect it. As far as I know this is joint venture between HA dev & Shelly dev teams, so it should be pretty stable.
@@KPeyanski you're right I just got one and enabled BT proxy, and the only thing I noticed was a slight increase in temperature of the device by about 2°C. But that was very simple to do ,thanks
Dose it come up in the integrations as a proxy after enabling passive ?
@@dodgecrickets7862 it does not.
Mine is not working one bit lol .. Iv unplugged my esp32 proxy and tried to add Bluetooth devices through Shelly.. and nothing comes up.. as soon as I plug the esp32 back in everything shows up.. not sure what I’m missing here 🤔
I think I've mostly confirmed that shelly proxy does NOT work with LD2410B/C ... unless there's a way and if there is, can we have a video pleaaaase?
Meanwhile even with the native integration and having names in device and channel the home assistant instance is still not syncing the shelly names..
Only the Shelly devices that have mains/AC power can act as a bluetooth proxy
I just wish it was easier to update the firmware on the Shelly Plus 1; I don't have Internet Access at home right now, so I can't use the two I have as proxies without installing ESPHome on them, and I really like the way the Shelly devices "just work" out of the box with Home Assistant.
Yes, without Internet stock FW update is not possible I think...
I don't understand if I should choose passive or active mode. i just want to expand my bluetooth network
It all depends of the BT devices that you have. Try them both and see the results.
I followed the video and did not work for me as range extender to control SwitchBot curtain
is it working for other bluetooth devices at all?
I only have the SwitchBot 4 in total that would connect via bluetooth and these are the ones out of range. Other comments here appear to show the same issue. I am thinking of going the ESP bluetooth proxy route and you have another video on that@@KPeyanski
Good video in 1.5x speed
Please stop recording yourself from the side. This is just stupid IMHO. Stay awesome as U are!
Thanks for the comment, but I guess the second angle will stay for now...
@@KPeyanskiDon't change anything what a stupid comment from that guy... as useful as telling a doctor he should wear leather boots to work
