Sangtiennoi Sor Rungroj is a huge Muay Thai legend who fought some of the biggest names in the 80s and 90s, known as the golden era of the sport. Fighters back then were made of a different breed.
Training was brutal, competition was intense, everyone was exceedingly hungry, and raw talent was aplenty. Fights back then were legendary battles with a showcase of beautiful techniques and immense heart, wars that are still talked about today.
After his retirement, Sangtiennoi continues to pass on his love for the sport as a trainer. Notable names he’s trained with include Australian Muay Thai legend John Wayne Parr, and Japanese MMA veteran Enson Inoue.
Our interviewer visited Sangtiennoi’s home gym in the outskirts of Bangkok, where he shared candid stories about his life as a top prized fighter. You also get to meet some interesting characters in his gym.

A: “I am fascinated with the stories of old, and I love retelling these stories. When these ex-fighters share their stories with me, I feel like I’m transported into the past, watching from the side as it unfolds. I want to know the little details - what was life like, how they felt, why they made that choice etc.
I want to document these legends as HUMAN. People who are afraid when fighting their idols, and who also had to deal with disapproval from their parents. People whose fears, dreams and motivations we can all identify with. Knowing that they are human just like us, is a reminder that we too, can be like them.
I would love to interview more ex-fighters and legends of the sport, and I hope you’ll join me in their stories of hope, fear, laughter, sadness, and inspiration.”

each time i watch a documentary on one of these past champions im amazed at how fierce they are in the ring and at the same time so so so humble outside of the ring. To see them outside and listen to them speak and just their overall demeanor , you'd never know how deadly they are in the ring if you'd never seen them fight before. Amazing people these Thai fighters. True combatants, sportsmen and gentlemen. Another great video Kenshin. Thank you

This was beautifully done.... and much love to Angie for a killer interview.... felt very human, which seems appropriate for such a fine example of humankind.... after the fights, this dude kissed his opponents to apologize for the violence inevitably found in the sport.... and I love the way he lights up when he talks about how much he loves Muay Thai.... how can you not love this guy?...
Similarly, you can tell a lot of passion goes into your content brother.... I’ve been watching for what seems like an eternity now... and I’ve never once been disappointed.... not only are the uploads great to watch, but I can’t even explain how much I’ve grown in my training because of you....... let me take this chance to say thank you for the insane amount of quality entertainment you have given me over the years👏👏👏👏👏✊️✊️👌👌... once I get my mailing address sorted out, I’m going to order your book... if the book was made with the same time and care you put into this channel, which I’m sure you did.. so it will be fcking amazing and I can’t wait to get copy... thanks again my friend!..🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏✊️✊️ respect! You gotta love the man’s passion and joy for the sport/art, his humility, and his gratitude for his teacher and fellow nak muay.
A forever Student/teacher of Muay Thai, but having experience that leans him toward a certain mindset that was handed down to him and refined for him by him.
Now the style he is thankful he learned from his teacher’s and his experience that allowed him a sound mind and working body in such a brutal sport is the same style he wants to share with his students.
Forward, forward. No tired. Straight knee. No fall down. Win no tired.
Great story that continues on today. Good stuff. I love these kinds of documentaries!

Glad he mentioned dekkers because let's face it he was just so exciting to watch, even getting a permanent reminder in the form of a scar I'd be beaming with pride to show off, an it was beautifully set up splitting his guard right down the middle after one of his famous combinations.

Best interview👌...this interview with Sangtiennoi ,for myself it conjures up alot of positive & negative memories, "the deadly kisser" was a hero for myself as teenager in early 90s (when all others of my age followed traditional western sports) as I would have VHS tapes sent or fight newspapers trying to keep track( before internet)...i created the window when I isolated myself & submerged immediatetly training daily directly with Thais to the point of full time ... lifes dice got rolled & felt cruel for timing but Muay Thai still influenced life in many positive aspects.....once it's concentrated in your blood for that long it never disappears....❤Muay Thai
