Can you do a blow off valve install and comparison next?
Airtec is clearly the best... You might think that the MST is the best bang for your buck, from the results... but, if you do any street driving, there will be heat soak on the MST. Park the car, go in to get a bite to eat, come back and out, and the area under the hood will be heatsoaked. Because its not an enclosed sealed system, and the area that it uses is large, it will take some time to get it to clear out. Once it does, the power is there, unlike HKS.
You want an enclosed sealed system, so you don't ever suffer from heatsoak, and you want a very good flowing system. Therefore, bang for your buck, it's the Airtec. cheapest enclosed system that gives results (good flow), and doesn't heat soak.
The test showed which intake flows the best and which one reaches its coldest air, and stays there. Clearly for the money, Gruppe M and Sprint are huge failures, as is ITG, but you don't pay much for the ITG. So, I put ITG above Gruppe M and Sprint. These are midpack intakes.
I put the intake that will likely heatsoak, the MST, above the others, because it clearly flows well and is cheap. Airtec, Eventuri, and MST are the top intakes, in my opinion, but the Eventuri is for those that feel it's an investment that they will get back when they go to resell it.
Tegiwa never gave their preference for bang for your buck, here's what I would go with:
1. Airtec, 12.3hp gain for $600,.. best gain for $, no heatsoak
2. Eventuri, 14hp for $1248, ...... looks incredible, 1.7hp gain over best gain/$ intake, money is no object
3. MST, 12.2hp for $409, ........... best gain for $, but w/heatsoak
4. ITG, 7.1hp for $474,............... more gains than HKS!, but 2nd cheapest, no heatsoak
5. Sprint, 9hp for $1295, ............ gains are not best, but looks incredible, minus the blue coupler???
6. Gruppe M, 8.7hp for $1435,.... most expensive, gain is disappointing
7. stock, no gain, but it's free,...... since it came with the car, no heatsoak but not very good at drawing air
8. HKS, 5.1hp gain for $936,....... if you just want noise, then this is your intake. As a bonus it gives 5hp
Would this work the same as for gr corolla?
This has got to be one of the best performance parts reviews I’ve seen in a long time. Perfectly detailed for every part + dyno graphs, sound comparison and even intake temperature. Thanks for this amazing vid👏🏼
Thanks Jeffrey!
MST for the win I think
MST user here, would like to add my 2c 😂
Real world I can confirm that seat of the pants the MST product dramatically improved my GR. Sound level became ideal for the kind of car it is, it’s not obnoxious but it is loud enough to enjoy and have other motorists notice you. The soundtrack is also refined and nice.
Performance wise it was definitely noticeable back to back on a completely standard car to have gained at least 10hp (I am a competent engine builder so have plenty of HP adding experience). The major benefit for me living in Australia was consistency. The MST reduced my heat soak effects to almost zero, and recovery time after sitting in hot traffic is dramatically improved.
A small note but worth mentioning is that the intake pipe is a generic size, but the AFM section necks down which would be for calibration purposes. So MST didn’t just make a simple kit and send it out, it’s actually been well designed even at the ECU calibration level.
My final and most important factor to note, which steered me away from the Eventuri (despite my immense respect for the product and brand), is maintenance. The MST uses a generic cone filter that can be replaced at any stage, even 20 years later. For someone like me who plans to keep the car until death do us part this was a major value adder and I wish this was mentioned in the video.
Overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase and glad the video reflected how good a product it really is.
Cheers!
For the price the mst is what I would go for, leaving money for some sort of exhaust system
@@Murphy252000 indeed my MST + Fujitsubo exhaust + HKS power editor totalled less than an Eventuri (in Australia - maybe it’s cheaper in the UK)
@@jasondoulkeridis6202 yeah mate that's what I would do, what is there to look at under the bonnet anyhow, it's not like a handbuilt AMG or something, that ugly plastic thing only :0 Heads fried tbh, whether to buy a used low mileage, aka 500 miles GR, or a used 20k m2 comp :/ Where in Oz are ya bud, I lived in Melbourne, go the bombers!!!!!!
Just bought one now for mine pal, cheers 👍
@@shogunzac good choice mate! Enjoy
These product review videos are absolutely brilliant. Well done lads. Keep up the great work!
Even more happy now knowing MST was most reasonable choice 😉
Yes, it is a great intake 👍
Subbed.
Perfect video without missing any details.
In the old days, I have had done filming with my GTR GT2530 x 2 vs another GTR GT2835 x 2 on DYNO ( hub type ), it took me a century to edit.
Can’t imagine comparisons like this deep, well preparation with script will take how much effort and time. Speechless and respect.
Great work guys! Always a pleasure watching your videos! Helps me a lot with decisions about parts ✌️
6:16 thanks for the shout out guys! Then again at 7:59!! ❤️
Installing an MST Performance Intake? Check out this guy! Great installation video on his channel!
@@tegiwa thank you very much legends 🙏🏻
The definition of quality content. Thank you
Another ace vid! Now I know which one to get. Keep up the awesome work💪
thanks, perfect video and I'm happy about I have installed the Eventuri. The money makes pain, but the results and the finish gives me everything back. And the best is it's now street legal with Tüv Papers for Germany and CH Papers for Switzerland.
I live in switzerland and that just sealed the deal
i live in switzerland too and im pretty sure as of now it's not street legal, any links?
Will probably get slated for this, but I would be interested to see how a performance air filter performed in the standard box. I've tried all types of induction from open to enclosed and always felt a performance filter like a K&N for example replacing the stock paper filter was my best option.
Great to see the difference in price and bhp gains over standard spec.
Lads, love these tests and you always come across great so deffo if I get one I will buy. Thing is heads baked, so torn between this and an m2 comp, different beasts but both highly capable.
Just found this channel, really well explained and u guys r an easy watch too, subbed
Thanks!
Great video, thanks a lot for the effort - really appreciated!
Brillant comparison video... Thank you
Awesome! Thanks for your hard Work. Some Results are predictable. 😊👍
19:35 that was the best part of the video😂
Brilliant review guys, I chose the MST for my GR no brainier for the money 👍
Nice one for this, great to help decision making.
Great and detail test
Super Test Video ❤❤❤
Mst for budget and sound, eventuri for best performance and looks 👌🏻
Top work guys
Video was dope but when I herd another Matthew.. had to smash like .
the holes are probably on the underside of the stock filter intake in case the front grill gets a plastic bag or something over it while driving or a bird strike that could block the intake. If that happens, then the engine can still breathe through those holes underneath.
You gents are doing god's work.
Great video. It’s nice to see some technical explanations along with the design of the items.
I was just wondering - Did you by any chance, off-camera, dyno the car with any of the best performing filters and the tuning box connected to understand the complete positive power and torque effect? Essentially giving you an overall figure for the test car?
We didn't no, we were a bit strapped for time unfortunately. I went with the Eventuri and can confirm that it does feel noticeably faster than before. Sounds great too 👍
The Eventuri if you'renot on a budget or the MST Performance if you are, both are worth considering imo.
@Tegiwa Nice video. Thanks. Which of the intakes triggered the CEL?
Great video. Thanks for doing this. Sure makes it easier for the rest of us to choose which filter to go for.
BTW, the HKS filter is meant to be used with the original air scoop thingy.
Great job. Love your objective talk. Gruppe M is pronounced [ˈɡʁʊpə] M (like group with the hard 'p' and the 'e' of pet)
Can we see some custom remaps vs tuning boxes on the GR Yaris please?
MST is awesome
Great video, if I will get one i will get the MST then use the HKS mushroom filters instead
Hey 👋 I did it with my Gr yaris..
MST+HKS
You should do the same with the muffler test on the dyno.
I got all types fabrications. Love it. Not the prettiest but does the job. Australian made and motive guys used it on thier 500hp at the wheels with it
My choise for a stock car would be the MST. It's the cheapest (Place 1), ist the third best in performance (Place 3), the heaviest (Place 8) and Place 5 in terms of the intake temperature. And it's got an air-refresher!!
Another thing is how the intakes perform, if you've got all modifications like a downpipe with a 3" exhaust, ecu-tuning, upgrade intercooler and so on. For me it's hard to make a choise then.
can u guys test our the forge intake with inlet too?
Very interesting video! Thanks. Can I just ask you guys how you put the GR Yaris in 2wd mode for the Dyno?
We used the Syvecs controller to switch it to FWD. Matt explains it briefly within the video at 1:54.
You can find it here: www.tegiwaimports.com/syvecs-4wd-awd-controller-toyota-gr-yaris-20.html
@@tegiwa hi! Thanks. I realised at the end that you also explained it! My bad. I will look into that syvecs module
It would be nice to see the gain of the different intakes on a stock car without any modifications like an exhaust or tuning box.
Good 👍🏿 to know if I go Cheap it’s well worth it
The Gruppe M sounds savage but the lack of seals is concerning.
I'd like to see same test for the new golf R
I bought "MST Performance" based on the video.
thank you. It's a pity that the tilt of the engine causes the pipe to move, but I'm satisfied.
By the way, HKS Carbon Racing is Enclosed, but isn't it Open? 41:18
Great to hear you've got yourself a MST kit!
And that was an error within the graphics, the HKS kit is open.
Hi, where did you get your number plates made?
Great video. What exhaust system is installed in the street tests? 40:38
It's a Fujitsubo cat-back and Scorpion OPF delete. We have carried out an exhaust test on the GR Yaris too, which is definitely worth checking out!
1300 quid for the eventuri is not cheap. HKS carbon fibre dress up kit is worth it for the JDM style points and noise. You can add a SSQV to purge the boost.
My money's going to the MST. Need an intake that's easy to install and remove when it's warranty time.
What have been the intake air temperatures of each system compared to stock? One of the biggest negative effects of the stock intake isn‘t the restrictive airflow but sucking in hot air in the engine bay.
Hi, you can view the air intake temps at 41:31
@@tegiwa , thx!
Airtec seems best compromise for performance/price/intake temps for me
Have you guys tested the Airtec open air filter that's similar to the MST? Would love to know the results as it's £100 cheaper!!
Hi, we haven't tested the open kit from Airtec, only the enclosed kit that's featured at 15:30.
@Tegiwa do you have any plans to? If not, do you know of any stated gains as i can't find any on line 🤔
How do you switch it to FWD only, like you were apparently doing on the rolling road?
We used the Syvecs controller to switch it to FWD. Matt explains it briefly within the video at 1:54.
Cheers
I think stock with the forge duct is the best way to go.
Have you fitted this? For £400 i can't see anyone claiming any benefits.......apart from cooler temps.
What's the point on comparing different intakes on dyno using the stock fuel maps?
Because that's how the vast majority of owners will run them.
To see which one gives the best results using the stock fuel maps
Was the tuning box disconnected?
Yes it was.
Only front wheels are spinning on the power bench ? Please explain ? You should not be able to do this… I had 3 Subaru Impreza, impossible to do this. Tnx
It's explained from 1:55 onwards
@@noteventhatfast Ok I skipped that, I started the video past this explanation. Ok the electronic device is asking the rear diff to disconnect, so only the front wheels are spinning. Imagine the device is not working properly at one time, the rear diff will engaged and then "boom" the rear axle explode and bye bye Yaris. I think it's safer to have a 4 wheel bench for those cars.
How are the bhp figures higher on the aftermarket ones, but lower on the whp? Something dodgy going on
@@DarkNess24567 The figure that is accurately calculated on Maha dyno is the flywheel figure. The power at the wheel and drag are just the measurement from the car but also from the dyno setup. This is different to some of the US / AUS WHP figures and therefore I understand how confusing it is especially as they use the same terminology
The drag measurement is the total figure including the 3 retarders, 2 rollers and 2 electric motors etc on the dyno as well as everything on the car. All these things have an exponential effect on a reading and are therefore included in all the calculated figures.
Changing something as simple as the tyre pressure on most dynos and the WHP will increase as the friction is reduced. As we measure the drop in drag as well the Flywheel HP won’t change. Same can be seen in the temperature of the transmission or tyres etc.
@@johnnytegiwa Will the drag measurement really change by over 10hp with the same car on the same dyno on the same day?
So, what's next? Intake and exhaust, mix and match, maybe. Nice one.
Who knows...... ;)
@@tegiwa Or cooling solutions! Whatever it is, keep it coming. You are doing great.
Is good car
To be more TRANSPARENT, could have panned the camera to the dyno monitor itself after the run to let everyone see the dyno figures, than to show some separate dyno chart.
That HKS mushroom will disintegrate within few months, and u have to keep on replacing it and thats how HKS earn passive income! Its filter capabilities are also non existent ! Someone did filter tests some 18 years ago on the blogs!
Holes under intake pipe is for Flood prevention!
Great video nevertheless!
The dyno charts shown within the video are accurate to what the dyno monitor is displaying at that time.
Thanks for the feedback.
I want a gr yaris but I dnt have money 😢
Yetis yeah how much

Sprint definitely copied Eventuris homework.
Bonne vidéo mais Il parle trop le mec ça part dans des explications à rallonge autant allé à 41min 28s et vous aurez le récapitulatif complet de tout
Gutted to all the people who spent ov
277? In your fucking dreams
Eventuri buyers sweating now coz they spent £800 extra for 2hp and 2 ft.lbs
And a piece of engineering art capable of handling huge air volumes with less air turbulence.
@@dejan. What does it do with that huge air volume?
Nice content but I suggest you should less repeating words, so much time wasted
Thank you for your feedback!
