CN Milton Logistics Hub Construction Update February 2024

Returning to the construction site of CN's Milton Logistics Hub just over a year from my first update, a rare bit of sunshine this winter finds that significant progress has been made so far on the project.
In this update we find that CN is now using the new main track alignment for the Halton sub around the property where the Logistics Hub pad tracks will be located. This has been expedited, no doubt, by the closing of Lower Baseline Road which will eventually be underpassed, just not until late 2025 (much to the annoyance of locals as the road is completely closed until that time). Nevertheless, 2024 should see much of the heavy construction work carried out including land clearing and construction of a truck road and overpass to facilitate access to the facility from Brittania road at the north end of the property.
We first catch M301 taking the new mainline alignment as viewed from the south end of the property, then head over to Scotch Block to watch a somewhat-underpowered M302 grind uphill toward Stewarttown. Later we return to the north end of the property to view the new track configuration at Ash and watch a meet between M397 and X302. Construction is set to start shortly on new mainline track from Ash to a new plant at Derry, north of the MLH property, to facilitate a service track on the railroad-east side of the facility.
