    I like the end product. I think something else that would have worked would be a THINNER belt in the same light brown that was in the shoes and the thicker belt you had on. With or without the draped sweater. These videos are always fun! It’s like “playing with your clothes”!

    Thank you for this post! I often give up on styling a garment after one or two attempts. It was good for me to see that it may take many more “not so good” choices before “the garment” says, “Wow!”

    For me the best would be LK Bennet cardigan, because this is a sort of a country dress and the cardigan goes with the style. You could go for an evening walk or to an afternoon country fair. In my opinion you cannot make a dress like that a fancy evening dress. I am not an expert, of course.

    Loved the last outfit. Might love it even more with white shoes. Somehow brown leather (the belt you wore for a while) and the wedge shoe straps seem a little heavy for the dress. Maybe then you could use the red bag for a little "pop". Love the way your videos make us think!

    When I'm choosing fabric for clothes or a quilt, I keep in mind texture, color, pattern movement and scale, and the general "mood" of the project. I like the casual but crisp gingham dress with a navy belt and shoes, and the cashmere sweater.

  • @frauleintrude6347
    @frauleintrude6347 Před rokem

    The shawl is the best choice. This dress got a bit of a day at the countryside vibe. White trainers, red broad belt and a straw hat and off you go for a nice walk. But for something not so casual, maybe a short darker blue (boxy) Bolero jacket with closed front and round neckline could do something good. But it would need some accessories, maybe a big dark blue chiffon flower.

    I think if I had that dress I would leave the original belt on it. I would not wear anything underneath….ie. …vest top. I would wear a pair of pumps or neutral wedges and have a cardigan the same colour as the blue in the dress …..for when it gets chilly……and carry a straw bag. But that’s me…..😊It’s a delicate looking dress and I would leave it that way…It’s fresh looking and doesn’t need to be bombarded with loads of accessories.

    I have learned, from watching your channel, how to shop more effectively. Rather than see something in a store and buy it solely because I like it, I go through my wardrobe first and think about what I need to finish an existing outfit or what will complement other pieces I already own and then I go shopping. Also, as you mentioned, your outfit will tell you when to stop and it tells us too when something is not quite right. I may not be able to articulate what is wrong but I know to keep trying different tops, belts, accessories, or whatever until it works.

It's like Coco Chanel used to say about looking in the mirror before leaving the house and taking one thing off. I do that all the time. When you over-accessorize or mix too many colors/patterns it's just not chic and also looks like you're trying too hard.

    The first dress, I think would be better with silver and stop trying to match gold. Blue is a cool color, as is silver. They would compliment each other. I would choose different shoes too. Maybe a white with silver trim or buckles. I loved the wrap.

    I would wear white sandals and a white belt which ties in with the white tank. Looks more summery.

    You give excellent demonstrations on elevating outfits. It's amazing. The dress in this case is known as the "June Cleaver" in the US. Culturally and historically, it's associated with being a perfect 1950s-60s housewife. I doubt that many women old enough to remember June Cleaver will wear a dress like this, HOWEVER, that doesn't detract from the lesson here which is top notch.

    I'm going for wide navy belt & shoes; swap those out for red; add statement jewelry. I enjoy a wrap, but material weight of it, imho, should also complement the dress and be suited to the activity. Additionally a hat could tie the components together. I do enjoy these styling sessions, Marie-Anne. God bless 💖🙏👑✝

    I like this dress 👗 I’d wear it often. What about a thin red belt and white wedge sandals?

    Thought the cardi looks the best, but with a different belt, maybe a thinner white or navy belt
