  • @TheGrenadier97
    @TheGrenadier97 Před 2 lety

    Good tip. The bending to feed the strap into the fixed keeper will still cause some strain; i wonder if this suggestion plus free (or floating) keepers will totally cancel the problem without the need for a deployant clasp.

    • @marksonsparks698
      @marksonsparks698 Před rokem

      I guess you're right, but the fixed keeper is usually sewed in close to the buckle bar - at least the loop you have to make to insert the strap into it is not nearly so reflex as the "bad way" to insert the prong.

    • @seabass8154
      @seabass8154 Před rokem

      Yep, but the wear is relatively minimal so there's nothing to worry about. All of my straps have lasted 6 year with no obvious signs of damage.

  • @seabass8154

    This is what I do too: for both my straps and belts. This is why other people's straps last 1-2 years and mine has last almost indefinitely. Always slide, never bend.

    The buckle on that strap is not made for that thick of leather. I bought a black and tan one similar to that and replaced the buckle with one that laid down on the leather when it was buckled. I do take my watch off like do suggest.

Just been trying to change my watch strap and I’ve been to hell and back in the last 2 hours.. My £1.25 special tool from China was useless.. I’ve had to get the mole grips.. There’s an axe in the garage somewhere..

  • @MidlandPropertyInvestments

    Hi , i have a watch with a crocodile or alligator strap. My wrist size seems to be in between two of the holes. Is there a way to stretch the strap gently so that watch fits nicely. Thank you

    • @Thestrapsmith
      @Thestrapsmith  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi, often times, depending on the manufacturer, they can use an insert that resists stretching but you can try putting the strap on the hole that is tight and pushing it down over a bottle that tapers, Let it sit for a day and then flip it so the other side is down and put it back on the bottle. Start with only a small amount of pressure and progress as needed. Hope that helps.
