One of the best song ever written.
Crazy how a legend wrote it for another legend to sing. That's freaking crazy. Kenny was meant to sing this.
I'm glad Kenny sang it. Wow...what a voice!
It truly is
Straight baby-makin' music. RIP KR and thank you Lionel for writing a beautiful song.
Your reaction made me smile! Kenny Rogers was the MAN back in the day.
R.I.P. Kenny Rogers...that sexy granddaddy with the gorgeous golden voice. They don't come along like that very often, and we just lost a legend.
But when they do come along, treasure the songs they give us.
It's rare when somebody owns a Lionel Richie song so well. Perfection.
Preach
Kenny's music will live on forever. RIP.
Oh hell yeah.
Mr Rogers was a true class act, and a wonderfully generous gentleman. He gave many up and coming artists advice and phone calls that changed their careers, and he will be missed greatly.
Just heard he passed away today... so sad.
Edit: he released this song in 1980, which means that he was only 41 (tops) in this video. Not so old, really.
One of the GREATEST performers ever, along with one of the best songs of all time
"The sexy granddaddy voice." I'm dying. 🤣😂🤣
He wasn't that old here...was he? I think he started turning grey at a young age.
@@jessiem276 He was like 41-43 here.
Well, this was his 1980 tour. So he was 41.
He aint TRYING - he's DOING! The O.G. Silver Fox
I'm one of the Mumma's who was there screaming😂😂
😂😂😂
And you are still a hotty.
😁
I would have KILLED to be right there... He was hot as HELL.... I was about 12 when this show was on HBO....
Me too! He sanged the heck out of this song!
R.I.P. Kenny. Many of us lived our childhood through you.
He had it going on here. Love everything he sang.
So sad. Kenny actually just passed away last night. He was 81 years old. I grew up listening to this man. He was my mom's favorite country singer as well as being one of mine. You should really check out his songs "The Gambler" and "Islands in the Stream". The 2nd was a duet with Dolly Parton. Such an incredible voice. R.I.P Kenny.
RIP Kenny Rogers a true American legend 💜🇺🇸💜🇺🇸🎶
Billy you need to watch Kenny and Lionel do this together. Lionel tries to match his falsetto
I agree!!!! Lionel and Kenny had a relationship and chemistry like no other!!!!!
This performanceis 40 years old. It has truly stood the test of time.
Kenny Rogers died today March 21, 2020 from Natural Causes. RIP Kenny, we will miss you ...
I disliked this comment because he's gone. 😭
he passed away march 20th dumbass
Kenny, like all the great vocalists, have the ability to make you believe every word they are singing in a beautifully written song. A true timeless classic
Who’s here after the legend is gone?😥 just makes all of his songs hit a little different
Oh Billy why did you have to do this song, it was my mom's favorite song, she cried with it and for some reason I didn't listen to it for years... You made me cry... It is a great song... Thanks, it is a great memory and I loved to hear it once again and put it back in the memory box.
Oh by the way I meant my memory box not that the song doesn't deserve new fans, it is just too painful still for me to hear it...
You're so right ma'am. It's an amazing song. May your mother rest in peace.
Have a nice day ma'am.
This was my dads song for my mom! Boy do I miss my daddy every time I hear this song! Thank you for the memories
I have loved Kenny from way back! My adult children absolutely know every single word of his songs!
Islands in the Stream
He & Dolly is my all time favorite!
This made me cry... Rest in Peace Kenny Rogers. This song was sung at our wedding... memories
Kenny Rogers has so many beautiful songs, his voice is truly amazing.♥️
Many babies came from that song! Alan Jackson Remember When
Great song. I remember my Mom and Dad playing Kenny Rogers all the time growing up. R. i.P Kenny Rogers you will be missed.
Just read the news, that Kenny Rogers passed away at the age of 81. He was at home in Georgia with his family. May he rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers with his family and friends. May all your memories comfort you at this time.
Kenny's voice is soft and smooth just like butter ❤
Kenny Rogers has always had that gravelly voice. Check out when it was Kenny Rogers and The First Edition, Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town.
Billy, I was totally in love with Kenny....and I was 5!! I was sure I was going to marry him! 😉
Two great artists have created something epic and beautiful
We just lost Kenny yesterday :(
RIP old man
Another country icon gone
This song makes current R&B sound like Hip hip / Rap.
Classic, and wish slow songs can go back to this!!!!
Agree
Two LEGENDS made this powerful song happen;
Legendary songwriter; Lionel Richie
Legendary singer; Kenny Rogers.
His song Through The Years....is beautiful.
R.I.P. Kenny Rogers....we lost a genuine treasure last night. 😢 Thankfully we have videos such as this one to remember & enjoy his unmistakable voice & talent!
You can definitely hear Lionel Richie when he's singing this.
Exactly. It has the spirit, the rhyme and meter of Lionel RIchie and the persona and raspy voice of Kenny Rogers. Truly a great collaboration.
RIP Kenny Rogers!!!!
Fly High Sir!!!
He had a great voice. So sad to hear of his passing.
He died today the 20th. RIP Kenny Rogers. Legend. 💔😭😭😭
My Momma wasn't alive when Kenny was crooning these tunes, But I was! That was back in the day when men really knew how to put their feelings for their women on paper and it showed. God!, I miss those days. The way men feel toward women nowadays is just vulgar and a BIG turn off. Keep reacting to all the great music from back then, Billy and I'll keep watching.
Eloisa Pompa You’re right. What happened to the beautiful love songs men used to sing to their women back in the day instead of all this vulgar crap we have today. Even the young girls seem to have lost it.
RIP Kenny. This is my favorite song he sings!
Kenny one of the greatest!!
You should react to Kenny Rogers “Coward of the County”
Pretty positive he has-
Yes!
He has.. czcams.com/video/7iOApHaQeBY/video.html
@@Gutslinger thanks for the link.
Goosebumps always with this song
I danced to this in my living room as a little kid. We had it on 8-track. Look it up.
Kenny Rogers is one of my favorites I have grown up listening to him with my mom. We finally got to see him in concert in 2018 for his farewell tour I surprised her with tickets for her birthday and it was one of the best days of our lives. My mom would joke before he passed that if he came along she would leave my dad in a heartbeat for him. And neither me or my dad would have blamed her one bit for that lol. Rest easy Kenny 💕
RIP . Kenny Rogers . March 19th .20/20
I watched this video the other day....this morning i was listening to his songs on spotify ...and i was so shocked when he passed away this afternoon ..RIP to my all time favorite country singer....
This song can not be done better by anyone - PERIOD!
Rest in heaven Mr. Kenny Rogers.
This was 40 years ago.. R.I.P Kenny as far as his voice, that is how Kenny Rogers sounds .. its just his natural voice..
The stunning singer, just beautiful. RIP Brother x
Ohhh I love Kenny ❤❤❤
❤❤❤ Your reaction to an amazing song sung by an amazing singer - priceless ❤❤❤
Great reaction! I grew up listening to Kenny. Mom used to play his music on records. He’s amazing! 😉
Lol, wasnt my momma screaming ...it was me!!
Loved you...that reaction is priceless...loved THAT SONG....Kenny did it BEST..hi from Carmen in NORTH CAROLINA 🇺🇸👍🎻🎵🎺🎹
I had just watched this reaction last night. And this morning woke up and saw that he had passed away.
It’s one of my fave of all time 😂😂🙏🙏😂🙏😂🙏😂🙏😂🙏😂
Men do not sing love songs like that any more. Now its all about hit it and leave. Sad. Bring back the love songs of the 70;s and 80;s.
Facts
And a little of the early 90s. Once the 2000s started, pop and the wanting of partying songs toxically influenced all of music.
Agreed. Need to bring this shit back as the hect big thing!
Tim Mcgraw... got lots of love songs
"That's one of y'all mamas out there!" (Mine!lol)
Rest in Peace Kenny Rogers
Through The Years will make you cry. He sings from the heart.
This is one of my favorite songs from Kenny
I was lucky enough to see him in concert. I just love this song! Makes me cry everytime!
One of my absolute favorites!! I love all of his songs! That Voice!! 😻
I was born in 1967, so...old fart here. I wore a groove through this album when it came out. I am an old gay chick, but I listening to him in my teens almost converted me! Loved me some Kenny Rogers...thanks for the memories, Billy!
Rest in Heavenly peace 🙏🙏🙏. Thanks Kenny for all the beautiful music 🎶🎤💙
RIP Kenny 😞🎶❤
Kenny Rogers passed away last night. R.I.P.
Kenny is from my home town of Crockett Texas. Super cool guy. A true country legend.
Kenny Rodgers died yesterday. I'm so sad. What a legend 😢😢😢
Lol him on this song is some “panty-droppin” vocals according to my mom
Kinda like Tom Jones in 60's-70's......LOL
You Decorated My Life and She Believes In Me are the other two of his love ballads that were panty melters. Then there are his duets...*sigh* The man’s a true troubadour.
One of his best wasn't romantic at all, Kitt. Have you ever listened to Twenty Years Ago? That song, and video... Kenny Rogers really knew how to pull the emotion from you.
@@KKJ_author I don’t know if I’ve heard it, but I’ve loved almost all of his music. One of my all time faves is The Greatest which is not at all romantic.
I just tagged you on FB with the song. He had a way of telling a story in a song, whether he wrote them or not. :)
My mom came down the aisle to this song when she got re-married
This was my parents wedding song back in 1985
This song was beautifully sung.Amazing.You have a great play list.
My ultimate favorite song by Kenny Rogers. Thank you Billy for reacting this beautiful song.
When Lionel originally wrote this it was titled “Baby” until before hearing the song Kenny was telling him about his new marriage, how in love he was, and she was a true “Lady”...so then Kenny asks Lionel what the name of the new song is...Lionel tells him “Lady”
I grew up in Kenny Rogers I could watch him all day long I'm in love with his music and then love with him as a person you have to let you have to watch Dottie West Kenny Rogers when two fools collide you will see something special in that song also I am heartbroken over him passing away I've known Kenny Rogers since the day I was born and he's the best of the best and I love watching the reactions to all you guys because I grew up on him and you're just now seeing him and it amazes me night I love it that Kenny's probably enjoying this he was the best he was a country soul sensual Elvis Presley he was like Elvis but he's Elvis in his own way for how he sings he's got his own thing going on
Love your reaction to Kenny it's funny when you said that's probably someone's mom out there it made me think of how much of a fan my mom is of Kenny she played him all the time and still does.
You reacted to this 4 days before Kenny Rogers died :( One of the greatest country singers ever. RIP to the legend
Love Kenny Rogers. I always kinda thought he was channeling the BeeGees with his falsetto & vibrato in this song... then a few years later he came out with Islands in the Stream written by them (complete with background vocals by them too) and thought "yep that was a connection just waiting to happen".
This is the first slow song that my hubby who passed away in Oct. 2019, danced to on our first date just over 40 years ago. It takes me back like 1980 was just yesterday. Thank you for doing this song. RIP Kenny introduced me to my "Knight in shining armour"...
REST IN PEACE DEAR KENNY
You hear the appreciation in his voice! 🎶💕
RIP KR 🌿🕊️
RIP Kenny! God Bless!
I graduated in 1988 and Kenny Rodgers was the man. I had a wide variety of music and still do to this day. I live in Missouri just a couple of miles from the Kenny Rogers Children's Center., that was once known as the Kenny Rodgers Foundation. I am a Country girl at heart and I lived way out in the Boonies for most of my life but I raised my boys in a City. Thank you for playing this song which Kenny released the 1st time in 1980. While you are on the country songs, May I please recommend Patsy Cline, "Walkin" After Midnight" or The Carpenters "We've Only Just Begun." Both of these women died young and in the Height of their music career. I would read their stories first. Their voice and music was real no added voice controls or anything like that. Okay I am done with this comment that could be a book LOL Thank You in advance. God Bless and Keep you Safe.
Every mans song to their one and only Lady...❤️❤️❤️❤️
RIP Kenny Rogers
I watched when he sang this the first time. This song and the way he sang it got many many men laid. He was a classic
i saw him sing this in concert in the 80s. He reminds me of my dad so I never has "those" feelings about his love songs but I love his other classics.
KennyRogers is Legend and an Icon in Country Music and he's done crossovers
One of the greatest singers!
Billy I appreciate your ability to love not a good performance but a great performance.
RIP Kenny Rogers he was 81.
During the mid 70’s thru the 80’s, he was a MONSTA’
