As a therapist .. I want to assure you that it is going to be fine. I help people with anxiety then myself was into it . What I did , I visualised the machine for few minutes and imagined my anxiety and fear going away. When I started the procedure, I started belly: stomach breathing and continued for 7 min. I felt instant calm and was very relaxed. Let’s try exploring our strengths. You are going to be okay and it’s not that hard . I wish you come out of whatever you are going through and eventually continueto the healing journey .
Loud noises I can handle, it's the damn closeness of the walls and ceiling that get to me. **UPDATE** I got through the hour long process without freaking out. I was prescribed a full tablet of Xanax, had the little towel over my face and listened to music without a problem. I don’t usually like the dope feeling and really only felt tired or “relaxed”. I recommend going that route but remember to not fall asleep. Confession- I fell asleep lol
It's nothing serious like that even if you are claustrophobic, trust me guys everything is going to be great 👍. I'm a extreme claustrophobic and I had my MRI with contrast test last week. I took beeta blocker an hour before test and went with my husband and it was like I was walking around the garden of flowers and it just took hardly 25 minutes. I had pelvic MRI. So just don't think about any fear ,use anti depressant and go with your loved ones and enjoy. May you all stay safe 🙏
I never understood why patients would freak out in the scanner, until I had to have a mri of my pit. Ooooooh weeeeee that shit is scary lmaooo. I feel for the patients now. Just try to go to your happy place while in the scanner and don’t open your eyes lol
The last MRI i had i told the technician that i was scared of the noise before we started and she was such an ass about it, i was very surprised that she hadn't met anyone who didn't like the loud sounds before, and kept making annoying comments about it :/ Hopefully next time I'll have someone nicer as my technician
I'm autistic so I would not like the noise either. Unfortunately if I were to ever get an MRI, I'd probably get someone like your tech, especially since non-autistic people don't have correct knowledge of autism.
Hopefully you get a tech like me. I have a non verbal autistic son and have scanned several autistic patients . The best thing is to be on a open mri or 1.5 mri machine. These machine are less noise than a 3T MRI. Also if possible wear ear plugs and headphones. This helps tremendously.
The narrator didn't want to say it but I will: Xanax (generic: Alprazolam) anti-anxiety medication helps. Works for me. Also, look for a provider with the 3T wide bore MRI he mentioned.
Iv got to have my head wedged in place and a full plastic face mask again. Thats what made me loose it, being sedated next time, but still panicking.!!
Busted knee and MRI study unsuccessful due to not being able to be still from pain. Going in again tomorrow and dr to give me valium. WTH Thanks so much for this video, big help.
I know how you feel, iv had many before, but the last one I had I had to wear a full face mask, it's open in parts but I lost it, going back for another try next week, but it's making me ill thinking about it !! Good luck, we can do it
I was given the option of a larger MRI machine because of claustrophobia but the attendant told me I would have to put on some sort of helmet and that freaked me out
I have a double MRI scheduled tomorrow. I’m not claustrophobic but I get itchy because I’m not supposed to move . I’m going to be in there for 90 minutes. Any suggestions?
Ask them if they have music, tell them to talk to you threw out the scan, put something over your eyes, don't drink caffeine before the exam! Pretend you are going to sleep and zone out
@@jessicaeldridge8710 Hi Jessica How did your MRI go? I’m going in tomorrow… double MRI My doctor prescribed 10mg Valium I’m clearly still nervous bc I’m on here
@@zaraollywood the 2 MGS didn’t work personally for me and I ended up moving around a lot but I think you will be okay with 10 milligrams. It won’t completely get rid of ALL the anxiety but it will definitely take the edge off.

WITH SOOOOOO MANY PEOPLE BEING CLAUSTROPHOBIC WHYYYYYYYY DOESN'T THE MEDICAL FIELD MAKE SOMETHING MORE EASIER TO GET THROUGH
It should be mandatory that they all be replaced with open mri’s, after all, this should not be a horrible part of your treatment plan.

Nice glad you made it
Hello! What dosage did you use?
It doesn't matter this is always uncomfortable and deathly scary!!!
Some imaging facilities offer patients the option to watch a movie or stream tv during their scan. This can avoid needing sedation for many.

Yes it could be intense with all the noise and head coil!
Hump! For 30 min or more? Does not work for many! Only a mild sedative will do!

That's terrible. I never treat patients like that.
Yeah...The technician can be mean as hell! Very impatient!
Trust! Sedation is the only option!

Thank you for the video.
Forsure!
How long a patient be inside and what are side effects?
Thanks MRI man! Do you think you could do a live Q and A live stream sometime?
Thats a good idea! What do you think the best day and time ?! Any suggestions?
@@MRIMan Idk probably whenever your free to. Im thinking the weekend or after your off work?

Glad I could help! Take some pain meds before exam too
Why can’t a nurse be beside u it’s petrifying for the brain
Even with sedation, I'm so worried about those louds sounds. Sounds trigger my anxiety. Not sure I can get through my upcoming exam.
The operator will probably give you ear plugs. You might want to take your own to be sure.
Sedation usually helps 99% of the time. Good luck!
NO NO NO. YOU tough through it.!!!!!
I failed to do one last week and rescheduled for two days from today I can't sleep I'm so traumatized!

Maybe try some sedation. That helps alot
I go today at 12 , to try again hope I can do it
You have to do a mild sedative

Not for some cardiac MRI s unfortunately.
im really not excited, i have an mri tomorrow which should take about half an hour and im very much claustrophobic
We do alot of conscious sedations! The masks don't help with claustrophobic patients.
We also give Valium! I heard the metal in the mask burned someone on a 3t
@@MRIMan how does it burn someone?
They sure don't!
