Lando's humility and success is a testament to his parents' great job in raising him. He's a true talent and a genuinely nice guy.
Hope he makes it.Almost all "freshmen" are seen as the next best thing since sliced bread.
It's unfortunate that parents see their children as investments but that is F1 (and unfortunately many other sports).
Every parents goal should be to make their child's life one step better than their own was. Lando is pretty humble and successful, I'd say his parents did a good job.

The thing about parents that invest in thier children. No matter the scale, they should never expect a return and that should be assumed right right from the word go. The reward comes not necessarily in terms of results or money, because those things we cant take to the grave. But the very act of seeing your child trying to live up to their own expectations and stand up to the opportunities that come thier way is the greatest reward of them all.
Always liked Lando’s outlook on life, such a humble, funny, intelligent and for his age knowledgeable about the sport he loves ! Love the fact he knows it’s not a given in F1 to succeed, you have to work at it ! Watch out for him in the next 2-3 years, with the right equipment he’ll take off…….. go for it Lando the worlds your oyster young man !

He's not that young anymore. And honestly, his maturity was something that was lacking. He himself recognized that, I think two years ago.

Most people more or less end up at the same level as their parents.
F1 drivers will soon only be the sons of multi multi millionaires, the resources required to get there are vast.
Lando has no ego which is surprising and is a good character

I don't think there's anything wrong with having your parents to help you. There's so much stigma against supposed privilege, but the whole point of doing anything in life is to pass it on to your kids. Lando's dad wasn't even a racer, so there's no overlap in that case like there was for Jos and Max - which again, no problem there whatsoever.
The only problem is in cases like Lance Stroll when his dad literally owns the team, and he effectively suffers no consequences for failing to perform to the level other racers might. No hate for Lance, would just respect him 10000x more if he moved to a different team and stood on his own two feet - if only for a season or two.
What is Lance’s crime then in your opinion? Because Lando’s dad had funds to fund him all the way up to F1, Lance’s father has £££ to own a team, and has his son there. I don’t understand the issues people have with Aston Martin, it’s up to the management to decide their driver line up and priorities. No one is owed Lance’s place.
Certainly nothing wrong with it. No kid can go racing himself at a young age, they cannot earn the money they need to go karting. I go racing with my son, on a very limited budget compared to most of the paddock.

@IsBelieving859 would still be the same F1. Probably majority of drivers had well off parents to support their journey up to F1, and others have investors that fund their seats at F1. Everyone's paid one way or another to get the seat. This is sporting field of the rich. Don't see much difference between having a seat bought vs. owning a team and reserving a seat to another nepo driver. Plus, if so much vitriol is being poured on Stroll, what about Zhou..arguably he's even a worse driver with purchased seat. Or would people not care about Stroll if the team was not Aston Martin, but Haas? I think a lot of it is just pure jealously of him having it too good.
F1 is expensive. Be thankful Lawrence bankrolls a team.

Money can't buy talent. My father is extremely successful and I was also privilegedly supported in my early efforts of racing, music etc & it did not matter because I didn't have the chops. Is it a boosted start?, Absolutely. Does it ensure success? Absolutely not. My parents could've paid my way thru the formulas and today I'm A biologist. Landos gifted. He's allowed to own that.
It opens a lot of doors. You need to be able and willing to step through it. But F1 drivers are probably the least talented group of athletes of any sport since money is so important. There are people out there that are way more talented than the guys in F1 but for whom karting or a different type of racing was never in the financial cards.
There are some who were able to make it without money like Ocon and Hamilton, but very few people are willing to take that risk their parents took.
Money can't buy talent, but to get to F1 you need money.
Even Senna in the 80s struggled to get started in F1 and his family were pretty wealthy for Brazilian standards.
@@RJA Not just for Brazilian standards. He is from a rich family. Not as rich as f.e. Piquet, but still rich, by any worldwide standard.
You can get money however in several ways. Ocon's family sold the house and started traveling around, Hamilton's dad started taking extra jobs next to his full time job.
Hearing rich people who too aren’t comfortable with being judged for their richness is so awkward.

He did pay.... in f2 they hired felipe nasr to coach him and they got 2 f2 cars and raced together on a private test in multiple tracks around the world banked entirely by his dad. Source? Felipe Nasr

@@michaelkillerman tbh guys I just watched this video , I knew his dad was very rich and that it costs millions of financial backing to get an f1 seat generally speaking. I just looked it up and yeah , his dad actually spent around 40 million with McLaren alone for Norris to get his seat, so he is BSing 😂
His dad payed £20million for landos spot as a reserve/test driver then more investment in McLaren to push him into a race seat, same old story with F1
He's proved he belongs in F1, and thats all that matters now.
It isn’t just Lando half the F1 paddock have came from rich parents, I ain’t judging nobody Landos a great driver and will have a great career it’s irrelevant of his background he still had to put in the time training etc
Nobody who knows F1 would put Lando in with Mazepin or Stroll.

Praise to his parents for making him race to F1 (it is a lot of money).
Thing is Lando was a pay driver - his dad paid McLaren $40mil for his first 3 years and as well to be their test/reserve driver. Obviously proved his worth in spades, and helped increase McLaren's stock as an F1 team.
Wealth buys opportunities, not achievements.
Anyone who works hard can get achievements.
Lando seems to be a very nice guy, but actually I'm pretty sure Max and well (and Alex Albon IS definitely a very nice guy as well)

If your son wants to be a doctor and you have the means you support him and you choose not to then you are a bad father. It's the same for Formula 1.
Is he not very articulate (given where he grew up)? I can usually understand British southern accent quite easily, but I need to put a little effort to understand him.
His accent isn't quite wholly British sounding, there is a twinge of a foreign accent which I think is because his mom is from Belgium
The mix of accents is certainly interesting. I remember hearing that he might be dyslexic and struggles with some words because of that. I've also noticed from different interviews that when he has to concentrate and think hard about what he says (like here) it gets a bit more difficult to understand him.
Lando’s behavior reminds me of the worst kind of Ivy league frat boy. When you watch his natural interactions he’s really kind of a prick. His reaction to breaking the Hungarian trophy is a perfect example. Great driver though. And not alone in being this type. Ocon too and he grew up middle class.
Ocon wasn’t really from a middle class family, no was Gasly. They’re more lower-middle class.

Hes on pace to make 100s of millions of dollars and is starting his own racing team. Its about as good as an investment as you can get out of a few million on karts and travel.
