I really wish more board manufacturers would have their item in stock and not as group buy only. That is the main reason why keychron boards are often recommended because they are one of the few brands that actually have quality boards that are in stock. If I would want to buy a zoom 65 I would have to pay aftermarket prices or hope that the board will go on sale again some time in the future which might not happen at all.

If you're going to get into the keyboard hobby, you're going to have to accept group buys as being a thing if you're wanting to get premium boards. However, this has a very short lead time for being a group buy and I don't think that should deter you from getting it if you're interested. I just finished building my Zoom TKL (first build ever!) and I really love the sound and feel. I didn't buy the internal weight, but I put in the extra foam they sent (I just cut an indent into it to make space for the cords inside). It sounds great even without the weight! I got the aluminum plate because I didn't think I would like it to be too flexible when typing. Totally worth it!

What makes Keychron the undisputed mechanical entry leyboard winner besides simply being in-stock is the fact that they also offer ISO versions of their board. If it wasn't for them I probably wouldn't have ever seriously entered the hobby. Now that I've used their boards for a while I felt comfortable enough to spend a shit-ton of money on a custom ANSI GB board and everything around it to make it my endgame board.

What makes Keychron the winner is I can buy their stuff. I can't type with a group buy and promises.
I ordered a GB keyboard in September with an ETA for the end of October. When October came that ETA changed to November. Now that ETA has moved to January. I don't have time for this. I ordered the keyboard because I needed it, and I'm starting to think most of the MK industry runs on vapor.
I'd love to from-scratch build a keyboard but it's hard to stay excited about a project when the parts don't even arrive in the same quarter I order them. I'm a hobbyist who plays video games, not a business making long-term plans, and I don't order my hardware based on projections.

so I’m interested in the best low profile mechanical keyboard, any recommandations? I only saw a few from the gaming comp but I was wandering if this is this kind of keyboard from companies like keychron (witch they have a version but I need more that one to chose from)

honestly, i just bought a keychron kit and it was missing parts (specifically the top of the case), CS decided my kit didn't include that part(?) and refuse to help me get a new part. all over the course of a week or so. never buying from them again so its good to see alternatives.

Look at alexotos’ newest video. With your price range and preference I believe it’s the perfect premium kit that’s in stock for you that I know of. It is premium, however, and is $400-500 I believe.

    • @jonathanriggs6599

It is a barebones kit tho. So no key caps or switches. There are also different budget options I’d like better because I can’t personally spend that much. I know Akko has some full keyboard kits, but I’m not super versed on group buys for full sized boards because it’s not what I usually look for.

    • @jonathanriggs6599

I checked Akko’s site and they’ve just recently released a full size kit for $120. Considering how well made the acr pro at the same price range is it would be a nice board for a cheaper price

@@KP-by4eu agreed lmao. I have joined custom mech keyboard hobby for years, and have own some custom ones, but still doesn't really get why they love to design everything on the backside of the board.
I mean using stainless or brass for the back is useful for sound purposes since those 2 types of metal are more dense than aluminium, therefore it reduces hollowness sound.
