You must know, that this makes me tear up EVERY TIME.
Everything Mike has ever loved has fallen apart. Even Captain Kirk called him a moron.
But at least he still has Rich Evans.
Mike Stoklasa? Well of course I know him, he's me.
Thank you for this gift of a comment
Mike Stoklasa? I thought he was a myth!

I love you
Oh he’s not dead, not yet

We got to watch the very last shreds of Mike's childhood die on screen. Now his transformation is complete.
He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil.
PUNISHED Mike
nochtczar Then the Emperor has already won.
No, that didn't happen until Shatner made fun of his _Star Wars_ fan podcast on Twitter.
His skills are complete.
Poor Mike. The 2 franchises that he grew up with, Star Wars and Star Trek, have been taken over ump-teen times by hack frauds and trashed of their heart, soul, and magic.
Mike convinced a huge portion of the fanbase to hate half of the films and their director. He played a crucial role in George selling the franchise. He's basically Amidala: he moved for a vote of no confidence in George Lucas' leadership and now an evil maniac is in control, instead. I feel no pity for Mike that he has now seen what Star Wars films that are _actually_ bad really look like.
Uh, what? Are you implying the prequels aren't "actually" bad?
Look, I hated TLJ as much as the next guy, but that doesn't mean I'm clamoring for the days of Goongas and Corooscint, either. The fact is that the Star Wars franchise has sucked ass since '83. Nothing Disney releases could ever fuck things up worse than the Phantom Menace/special editions combo of the late 90s. They're just continuing to milk the dying cow for every last drop. Pretty standard stuff for a big film studio.
@@taylormorgan6441 yeah i'd rather have the prequels honestly.
@@REDDAWNproject You're either very young or insane.
@@LectricSheepz the prequels are legit better and i don't like them at all
*This actually made me sad in a really serious way.....*
That's because the score was composed by john barry
@@smurfette_blues7922 what score is this?
Mister Tea, it’s called Back to Nature from Walkabout.
Child like magic is what we seek to find in times where things get darker and darker is a reasonable thing to be depressed about.
You need to see a professional.
1:19 Poem:
Into my heart an air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.
from A. E. Housman's A Shropshire Lad (1896)
who is it read by?
@@weakestpakistani9730 I can't recall but i know the source is some 60s movie that ends with some people skinny dipping in a lake hidden in the woods

We're all Mike Stoklasa.
The real Mike Stoklasa were the friends we made along the way.
A single tear rolled down my face, and in that tear a universe was created where Mike was happy and Star Wars was good, but then it fell from my cheek never to be seen again.
🥲
this really subverted my expectations

That's OK, we're all dead inside now.

I was near tears and then the Plinkett song came on
I felt the same way at the end of the Indiana Jones review, when he wheeled himself into the sunset while reciting a poem. Oddly enough, both that poem and the one in this video were written by the same poet, A.E. Housman.
For some reason this made me laugh out loud
@@mrleedra Thank you for identifying the poem. Through the wonder of modern tech, I learned a bit about A. E. Housman, "A Shropshire Lad", and "poem 40". Recommended.

Goodbye, my Star Wars.
i've been trying to pin point the reason why i didn't jolt out of my house and into the theaters at midnight for TLJ and i think this video perfectly displays why that is...
*I am Mike Stoklasa*
This video is so sad. I got more pathos and hope for a better day from this than 2 hours and 30 mins of Last Jedi. We are living in a bad timeline.
I went to see it in early January, and it was so god-awful that I took two smoke breaks and a bathroom break without even caring. Raping my childhood wasn't worth my complete attention for two hours.
Ostrich160 same here had the same feeling about rogue one. I even pirated TLJ weeks ago and still haven't watched it.
I am Mike Stoklasa
I am Mike Stoklasa
WE are Mike Stoklasa
RedLetterMedia's greatest achievement is unintentionally documenting Mike Stoklasa's descent into madness
Those of us of a certain age know exactly what this is; it hits you deep inside, and you are transported into another time. I honestly shed a tear when I saw this.
I remember popping these movies into my VCR
watching them over and over and over.
The lightsabers and the force
twin suns, cue breeze, set course
I would jump around the living room
pretending to be Luke.
I would focus on an object
which the force would move.
There was a kind of magic a wonderment to it all
friend, companion, teacher, you taught me well
As I grew older your voice I heard less and less
But it did not matter, for in my heart you slept.
They told me you were back, but I was unsure
My heart still ached, I'd been duped once before
Now a grown man, went to the theater with my son.
The lights dimmed, the fanfare, till all was done.
We saw the Last Jedi, and immediately knew
that Star Wars was dead, as my love for you
Houseman was right, I see it plain
You can never ever come again.
Thank you for writing this. You deserve praise. And a raise, go show your boss this youtube comment and he will give it to you.
Wow. This is art.
Thanks ❤️
Imagine being 13 in 1977 seeing it all for the first time untainted by any fan..
Every ending is a sad ending, given time enough.
It's about family
I just saw something that made come back to this vid.
In the half of the bag for the force awakens they make a point about how the last shot of the island just looks like some cheesy tourism ad. (Couldn't agree more)
Well, I don't know how old the ad is but just saw the Visit Ireland ad with Mark Hammil.
And that's what's important
Holy shit, it really reminds me of the ways a Bourne movie should end. lol
Every time this video pops up in my home page i click on it, and every time it cracks my heart
Ah, I see you're a man of masochism as well
Stoklasa is the key to all of this
Nothing can erase what it was.

There's an re-edit that restores it to its original content but keeps the HD quality. Can't erase it.

Im gonna sound pathetic but I cried when I saw this video. I also laughed hysterically when I saw the star wars oranges and salad. It was a well done short video that meant alot to me and apparently many others. Thanks.
This makes me so sad. It’s like all the magic is gone 😭😭😭😭
Man, do you remember when Star Wars was something special?
BlueShit199 Do you remember the time that Shaq ate a kid whole?
Do you remember the time when Rich Evans ate Shaq whole?
Star Wars was a thing I used to like.
It was replaced by Disney Wars...
Lucas made a mistake by not continuing the saga when he could. The era in which it could remain special was wasted.

We all are
Did Rian Johnson write Terminator Genisys? it time travel aborted both James Cameron's films. I predict Star Wars Episode 9 has Lando crash land the Falcon (now spray painted pink) on Chewie killing him off camera. Lando feels terrible so asks Rose to kill him she says no then accidently falls over R2D2 and fires her blaster at Landos face. BB8 blames R2 and dismantles R2D2 and throws his bits into a Snarlak (is that how you spell it lol) C3P0 cant carry on and commits suicide by falling into a bottomless pit into an engine. All off camera. Roll credits. So Brave So Intellectual.

It's the magic of the film walkabout and it's amazing score by John Barry.
I did too. Great video
@@smurfette_blues7922 The scene in Walkabout that uses this song and quote may be one of the saddest and most moving scenes in film ever.
@@uuuuu1111 This must be the place for the movie discussion on "Walkabout", which this video, and these comments, prompted me to watch again the other night. The ending scene is sad and moving, and quite beautiful. But, for me, the movie itself suffers from too much brutality and darkness. Anyone care to discuss the aesthetic of Australian auteur Nicolas Roeg?
Props for using John Barry's Walkabout score.
Also I am Mike Stoklasa
It's kind of funny how the central message of Star Wars is youthful humanity versus jaded old inhuman machines/monsters and in real life the corporate machine is now what controls Star Wars. Oh well...I'm more of a Star Trek fan anyway...oh wait.
Frantick
Tbh, Star Wars has always been a Hollywood franchise, and it's always been ran by a corporate machine.
Better switch to Dr. Who. Oh wait...
Star Wars is a metaphore for the real world.... its a warning of what we can become... and what we must do to change and transform... its also a fun fictional story... but yes, what makes it so transformative to watch is the revelation it is us
secondly George Lucas gave everyone the original trillogy alongside the great actors and others who helped, what ever you might say, simply put everything golden in star trek and star wars except for TOS, can trace back atleast in part to George Lucas, if you love those things you should love him as well as all those he worked with to help create that golden era of science fiction films and television.
You know, I'm something of a Mike Stoklasa myself
Mike Stoklasa is all of us...
At least Mike still has Star Trek. Wait. Fuck.
This is even worse after the recent Star Trek Picard review videos.
_"I'm starting to change where unfortunately this knife in my heart has plunged too deep and I see like pictures of captain Picard from TNG and I cringe a little and I'm just like 'I'm done with it.'"_

Walkabout
I mean, I understand that this video is kind of a joke, but it genuinely made me emotional. The music, and the editing choices, and the poem are perfect.
Mike is being sarcastic and snarky all the time, but I'm sure there is some sadness in him because of this shit.
We all loved the original ones, and the prequels were like a betrayal. And now we get something that kind of resembles what we love, but in reality it's this corporate and synical product...
It's actually easier to detach the prequels from the original trilogy because they were so different in content and particularly visually. These ones however take a lot of familiar elements and suck the magic right out of them and all that's left is empty, watered down corporate shit.
danielsan7876 true about the prequels, they're nearly erased from my memory.
danielsan7876 And I don't even hate these new ones. Rogue one was pretty bad I thought, The last Jedi is ok, and The Force Awakens I kind of like. I got other problems.
For me, especially as an artist it's sad to see how this wonderful creation, that told a very compelling story with strong characters and great filmmaking, yet still felt like it's children playing with toys, and making a fun movie out of it... is now turned into a committee - driven product made to please dummies
@@FranzFerdinand76 though not without trying to copy the originals
Yeah the music and the poem is actually the audio from a early 1970s movie called walkabout. It's a Nicolas reog film about how childhood is very fleeting and how we usually take it for granted, and at times wish to return to that carefree time. It's actually a really atmospheric movie set in the red deserts of Australia. It's also a film I long for redlettermedia to see and review or even mention...
