I recently spent 5 months camp hosting in a national forest in Oregon. And everyone of these rules were abused. I couldn't believe the inconsideration of people. For the most part people were nice and friendly. But at the same time they were inconsiderate.

Yea, unfortunately this seems to be more and more common. I wish LNT would get more active in the RV space.

QUESTION: If you’re out on free land and someone parks too close, I gotta admit, in today’s world I’m nervous about asking them to move. Some people are super jerks! And I’ve watched other lose it completely. When is it ok to ask someone to move on free land?

That’s an excellent question. For us, it’s a matter of blocking our exit. Or their (in one case) laying under our RV and TV. Then it’s a safety issue for both of us. In 2 years we’ve only had to ask someone to back off once. We use the excuse “our dogs are not friendly”. Or I park the Van awkwardly to give us some breathing room. Gut instincts are usually right when talking to people.
