I've been baffled as to where the bewildering 'hate' for Luke has come from - all we ever see from him is class.
Me too, people say he has a boring persona but I find him articulate and interesting to listen too.
I mean what makes all the other players so much more exciting?

@g.s.1722 spot on. Here's my theory - the hate for him comes from the fact he is so articulate. People mistake it as being aloof. Players that are less articulate in how they express themselves tend to garner sympathy among the working class.

Luke you are a true champion and gracious in defeat, both you and littler have bought darts to the masses, let’s not forget in that 11th leg you were on for a nine darter after the first4 darts, your 132 finish in the semi finals was sublime. This final could have gone either way, the 2 best in the world in my opinion. You both won four nights leading up to the final, you finished 1 & 2 in the league. Tonight Luke littler got the win as you say in the worlds you got the win. I think the sign of a true champion is when they are gracious in defeat as much as when they win and both of you are like that. Forget Luke’s age that only shows when he’s being interviewed (he’s a shy kid) but out on the oche he’s a man. Congratulations to both of you, you are both a credit to the game of darts and long may your rivalry continue. Remain good friends and just let your darts do the talking👍🇬🇧

Luke Humphreys is a great ambassador for the sport and the respect he's showing his opponents is a credit. He's my favourite player and I hope he wins much more, but to be honest I think we're entering the Luke Littler era and he will win everything before him, providing he keeps his feet on the ground and doesn't lose his professionalism. I believe he'll dominate like Taylor did, but I hope not because it's great to see different players winning.
Littler is going to win many tournaments obviously, but Humphries A - game will compete with him every time. Two phenomenal dart players, best in the world.

You are right about being part of the rise in popularity of darts. I started watching darts because of the Littler effect but now I am interested in watching all the top players which is why I just watched your interview.
The more Humphries talks the more he is likeable. So humble in defeat so gracious and articulable. Imagine him and littler as are world cup team. Nothing against smith (top player) but the 2 Luke's are the best player's in the world at the moment.

I feel bad that the top players have these press commitments etched into their contracts when you get questioning like this, trying to find any little thing to blow an article up on. But it's part of the commercial side of sports and without that commercial side these guys wouldn't be able to earn a full living from it and put their all into the game. I love the two Lukes, they play fast, they play furious, they entertain the crowd, they like to show off their immense skill, and they are both performers under the biggest of pressure - long may their dominance continue, they are capable of going blow for blow and that's what we like to see in sport - it's nice to see a demolition job but when both of the top players are capable of demolishing the field and each other, really makes for exciting viewing - and then the sportsmanship at the end to boot. The way they both demolished their semi's, I feel they wanted to go at it against each other - and either could have been a winner for me, both worthy. Just wish LH managed to blast a 9-darter too for good measure - but on the big stage it's not an easy feat!

How far darts has come since the days of Peter Manley at the Circus Tavern...! As others have said here, Luke Humphries is a class act. Comes across as a genuinely very nice chap.

Great guy, enjoy his clinical game only 2nd behind Littler! But he's kidding himself if he thinks anyone else BUT Littler is reason for new current popularity of Darts! Also, that 9 Darter broke his rhythm and lost him the match! He said it didn't affect him, but it affected them Both! Humphries next leg was terrible, but Little went into the zone, and knew on that form he was virtually unbeatable! You can actually see it in his eyes! But I'll say this for Humphries, Little has to be at his BEST to beat him! Both equal in terms of ability with two great opposing styles which I enjoy both! Apart from these two, I don't bother watching the rest unless they are playing one of these two! Darts doesn't get better than this / these two.👏

Most professional darts players just want to play darts and let the darts do the talking. Sportsmanship has become very important. Negativity is never good. So I definitely agree with Luke here. He's got good common sense!

I feel awhile ago Luke Humphries came out of nowhere. And he really doesn't get as much praise as he should. And with Littler coming out of nowhere recently all the attention goes to him now even though Humphries is world champion. But Humphries seems like the loveliest respectful guy.
Got to say the press were shambles with some of the questioning. Luke Humphries was a true professional unlike some of the press members. I have a lot more respect for Humphries after this fiasco by the media. Well done Humphries.

I don't understand the hate that Luke gets, showed his class on many occasions in victory and defeat. Especially in the final of the UK open, when the crowd was getting on Van de Bergh's, for putting Luke off by slowing the game down.
