We didn't expect this at Pismo Beach and Oceano Dunes

  • Located along California’s central coast, Oceano dunes, also known as Pacific dunes and Pismo beach sand dunes, is a recreational haven for off-roading enthusiasts. It’s also a great place for surfing, wind sports, horseback riding, biking (in our case riding our scooters) as well exploring the natural preserve of the dunes, which is particularly special at sunset.
This is also the only place in California where you can actually drive and camp on the beach, however it looks like this will be coming to an end as civic leaders are phasing vehicle beach access out by 2026, so you still have a few years to try out this unique experience at Oceano dunes.
Pismo Beach is a classic California beach town, located on the famous central coast, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles along Pacific Coast and Highway 101. There are long white beaches for taking a stroll, or for just enjoying the spectacular views of a Pismo Beach sunset.
There are lots of things to do at and near Oceano Beach and Pacific Dunes, from golfing, horseback riding, riding the dunes in a four-wheel ATV, surfing,, body boarding and even fishing can be part of a Pismo Beach excursion.

On your way back after sunset, how were you able to walk in the dark?

There is adequate light well after sunset to see your way. And we were only about 15 minute walk from our campground. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers, Mike

It's a shame after over 100 years of this area being used for these types of activities will Oceano dunes maybe closed in the next few years because of environmentalists.

What a rather rude comment, why take the time to leave it? Talk about being "Clueless," you didn't spell the word correctly. 🤦‍♂

Nobody walks thru there lol…. Thats what “civic leaders” think will happen. Its not. Locals will rage best believe if they try and shut it down
