  • Life in Hong Kong: A 3 day food travel vlog speaking entirely in Cantonese Chinese (with English subtitles)! Showing Michelin-star Cantonese food, won ton noodles, congee, dim sum and a wagyu beef hotpot buffet. There's a whole lotta food!

Serving HK local delicacies and classic dishes! I really enjoyed the wonton noodles (though the large portion didn't seem as large to me but i'm also greedy when it comes to wonton haha). The congee was silky and the general quality of the food was great. Affordable too!

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
A Michelin-starred restaurant specialising in Cantonese cuisine. Ordered the aubergine, beancurd skin and fish head stew (must order, this was DELICIOUS), preserved Chinese sausage, Chinese mushrooms and chicken claypot rice and the water chestnut and dried squid pork meat... cake? I don't know the english word for it woops. Good quality food that seemed to be full of regulars.

Ope for the Japanese wagyu hotpot buffet - it's worth the extra dollars! I always try to have less of the fishballs and noodles to focus more on the wagyu slices and veggies there. Great value for money when you're in the mood for hotpot and wagyu!

    Honeymoon Desserts
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
A cutesy HK-style desserts shop. I went for the coconut milk sago pudding and the mango snow-capped sago dessert. I'd say the hot coconut milk was the winner here! Both are good though.
A lot of choice of desserts including classic Chinese ones like glutinous rice balls and black sesame soup along with modernised favourites of french toast, sundaes and fruit salads!

A chain of dim sum restaurants. The local one I went to was 'alriiiight'. There are much better places!

I've noticed that for words that you pronounce with an sh sound, I say them with an s sound, like for "on top" or "pyjamas". I wonder if it is a dialect or generational difference, or if I am just wrong (which is quite possible aha). For reference, my parents are from HK but I was born in and grew up in the UK, and my speaking Cantonese is nowhere near as good as yours, though I can understand most of what you say.
Furthermore, I say Singapore the way you said it initially. I have never heard Sangapore

What I meant to say is often those born to Chinese families in overseas countries often will still speak Chinese or Cantonese with an accent. Especially with with American and Canadian born Chinese people, they tend to speak Chinese with an accent, but yet again, the North American accents tend to be bland vs. Chinese and Cantonese being a more tonal accent, so often the Chinese born in North America will speak Chinese blandly with limited tonal structures.
