  • Today we're doing our 4 year review on the Buyers DumperDogg dump insert and how it's held up over the course of time. Dump inserts have become pretty popular these last few years, and for good reason.
Today we're sharing our thoughts about how it's helped us grow our business and why I think they're a good choice for anyone looking to grow, without having to spend $65k on a dump truck.
Do you guys run a dump insert? Are you in the market to buy one? Love to hear your guys thoughts down below.

When I had my landscaping business I had an 8ft Cam Superline dump insert with sideboards on my 1500 Dodge Single cab. I had added leaf springs to supplement the weight of the insert. Springs added 800lbs of capacity which was the weight of the insert so worked out well. Would have gotten air bags if I did it again. Was there perfect set up for a small operation. Brian, i Love the truck, insert and trailer. Keep up the great videos!

Great video Brian, I went with a dump trailer! More room to haul more, more weight capacity, but the only bad thing is we need to have 2 units one for the equipment trailer and one for the dump trailer.

My 8' Standard cab F250 just came in tonight. I plan on setting up the same way. Billy Goat on the front of trailer with Dumper Dogg for the same reason you said. I have a 14' open trailer. Doing leaf clean ups we would bring the stand on mower to mulch and zero turn to bag. But then we would load up the trailer with the leaves and have no room for the mowers. We would have to drive to our dumping site and blow out all the leaves which as you know takes a long time and then have to go back for the mower which was a waste of time. I was only able to do one or two clean ups a day. I am hoping with this set up to be able to do more in a day. The delay in getting the truck due to computer chip shortage is a time set back and hoping I will be able to get it set up for this fall. Thank you for your videos that gave me the idea for this ideal setup for my needs.

  • @TopNotchPropertyServiceLLC

Such an awesome helpful video thanks for sharing! I wish my tundra could handle one of these but it’s a half ton. I need something like this for fall leaf cleanups.
I know all about the manual loading and unloading of material at the dump and at clients houses it’s tough to shovel it out and load. I’m researching this stuff now before I even worry about an enclosed trailer setup.

I got my first dump insert in 1999. It was an ez dumper. It was decent. Sold it after I got newer truck that had a aluminum truck craft insert. I really liked the truck craft. Now in my truck I have a steel truck craft insert I got used. I wouldn't be in biz without one. I don't need dump truck and this set up is perfect for me.

Love my dumper dogg!! I have 8ft steel dumper dogg in a 17 reg cab f250 along with a 7x12 dump trailer. It’s a great combo when it comes to landscaping. The rust will appear depending on how much u use it. Leaving mulch or grass in the insert is not the best thing for the steel, it will cause the paint bubble and eventually flake and rust. I take mine out at the beginning of winter to plow. Four bolts, and couple of wire connections, and the use of the fork truck from the dealer who installed it for me. Load it into my dump trailer that will sit dormant for the winter. Bottom line the dumper dogg is worth the money. Saves time and makes money for ur business, after ur initial purchase of course.

These dump inserts are great, we use a product called a Load Handler. It fits over the top of the tailgate and then lay the tarp out in the bed of the truck. When we are full (often times up to 5 cubic yards of grass/leaves) we hand crank it out. Works well and for the price of around $200 plus shipping. You just cant beat it for this price, especially as a new start up company. I also recommend the double-mat and put the slick side up for easier unloading. My next truck, I want to have the bed removed and a dump box installed. Great videos, keep them coming Bryan! - Philip in Billings

You can get a “load handler” at harbor freight for $50, they are only rated to 2k lbs, I have one, that we modified. I carry 4000-4500lbs of crushed concrete regularly. Works ok, bit tough to crank out, thinking of getting a dump insert.

  • @donaldcombs4677
    @donaldcombs4677 Před 2 lety

yes, I have the Buyers Dumper Dogg dump insert, I have the 8foot on my f250 and I like it for what it allows us to do. I am looking at the 6foot for my f350, but I have to make sure I can fit my fisher sander inside the 6foot. We use it for fall cleanup leaf collections, and we haul mulch/loam/fill with it, we just needed to watch the weight on the 8foot as you can really see the springs on the f250 flatten out when loading it up. the one thing I do not like is the alarm button that I have to keep resetting after I dump the contents of whatever I am carrying. the alarm sensor sits on a "L" bracket on mine and the bracket gets bent down with the weight, and I have to bend it up after I empty the dump body. One of the other things is when you are dumping you need to make sure the lower latches (the items that hold the tailgate in place) are not pointed down as they will dig into your bumper plastic cover and break it. if you have a V nose enclosed trailer you also have to make sure the latches are pointed up or forward or they will punch holes in your trailer on sharp turns. if you drop the tailgate all the way down and raise the dump body you will bend your tailgate as it catches on the trailer hitch as the dump body is raised. so these are all the items I have come across with my 8foot. yes I am getting another one as soon as I confirm that my fisher sander will fit inside of it as it is a valuable piece of equipment for my business. only rust is on the inside of the dump body and nothing on the outside. I have the steel with the cab protector and tarp as well. I bought it last season (2020) and I take off the wooden boards in the winter to get more visibility while plowing. One thing is that I added a smaller gauge screen to keep items from blowing through the grate at the front of the dump body. Overall I am very happy with the product and I got it after seeing it on your channel.

I don't own any of the three yet, but I would think that a dump truck would be the best for a lawn setup. If you're doing hardscaping, then you'll want the dump trailer. To get started in the "game" though, I can see the dump insert being realistic for many. So I think it's a progression of where you are in business.

Year 6 with my 8ft buyers.
If hauling/ dumping dirt/ stone of any kind you need to be very careful. It can hold 1yd of material but must be loaded in center of bed. If the load is to one side it will want to lean that way when lifting and could cause damage. Still works great and is a game changer for a solo owner/operator. I am considering air bags to help level out truck. when loaded full of grass/leaves and pulling Enclosed trailer with leaf vac on front, the truck sits lower for sure.

I wanted a dump insert initially, but my local dump is about 35 minutes away. I heavily prioritized the amount I could carry in one go so that I could fit as many leaf cleanups, pruning, tree removal jobs as I possibly could. That lead me to buying a 7x14 dump trailer this year. I no longer waste time at the dump pitch forking junk out for an hour and my back is saved.

I don't have new truck but it is nice and I get nervous with some operators loading it. The floor could also be thicker mine is getting beat up from hauling stone. I also don't like how high it sits in the bed I'd like it to be a little lower. Also if the cab guard was taller and the space between the cab and the d.d was closer it would look nicer.

I’d be worried about going over weight on the truck. At 800 lbs. it eats up a lot of payload. You’ll have to check your door stickers to see what your payload is.
But if you got 2,000 lbs payload. You put that insert in. Your at 1,200. And a 200 lbs driver. Your at 1,000. Another crew member or 2. You’re at 1,400 or 1,600 lbs. plus a 3,000 lbs trailer. You’ve got like 100 lbs before you’re over weight.
I would really recommend going with a dually. Like a f450 or 4500 with a wide track front axle
