This is a 2023 BMW M3 and there are 2 major things different rfom last year
This is the Competition which means the S58 3 liter twin turbo straight 6 makes
503 hp and 479 lbft thanks to some added boost pressure
Power still goes through the incredible ZF 8 speed gearbox
And this Comp has xDrive AWD..or 4WD if you want to get technical
HOWEVER
This 2023 is the LCI which means it’s the updated pinnacle sport sedan
AND this is the Jahre edition which celebrates 50 years of BMW M
And when you think of BMW you probably think of M3, right?
Which is why this Edition 50 Jahre is so special
Each one of these 500 limited edition M3s comes in press color that debuted a certain generation of M3
What we have here is Cinnabar Red for the most iconic M3, the first M3, the e30
I love the e30 generation so much that I used to own one…before a Subaru killed it
But the e30 generation saw the inception of the M3
It was s true homologation car which means it was a racecar first, but according to the rules, BMW had to make a few street versions
That e30 m3 was a huge hit back then and today you see clean examples approaching 6 figures
Fora car that was $30 grand!
This G80 generation M3 is the most powerful, the fastest, and the most lethal M3 ever made
And it comes with a BIG change we’d never seen before from an M3…AWD
And when you start pushing this amount of power this quickly to the ground, there comes a point where you simply need more traction. This M3 Competition with the Zf 8 speed and the xDrive system will hit 60 mph in the low 3 seconds
This M3 has the sharp front end
The aggressive tire
The LSDs
The tight adaptive suspension
And the AWD traction to turn anyone into a track day menace
This Edition 50 Jahre isn’t just a nostalgic paint package. You get things like a carbon front splitter, carbon diffuser, carbon lip spoiler, carbon roof, carbon brakes. Which means the curb weight is under 2 tons…and you can feel the benefits of THAT behind the wheel
There’s been an argument that modern M3s have lost their emotional side
And have become singularly focused pace machines
And this thing is CLINICALLY FAST
But this Edition 50, especially with the e30 cinnabar red…this feels personal…it feels emotional
When you think sports car all these little tick boxes start to come to mind, carbon fiber roof, carbon ceramic brakes, aggressive tires…they’re all here. This M3 is as jarringly quick as ever, but let’s talk about some of the exterior detail that makes this Edition 50 so special
We talked about this getting the E30 Cinnabar red which looks spectacular
The overarching design is very M3 which we’ve discussed at length
But there are a lot of little Jahre details all over
Carbon fiber splitter
Anniversary roundels
Anniversary door sills
The carbon roof
Carbon wing mirrors
Carbon side skirt
Carbon lip spoiler
And carbon surrounded exhaust
Overall it looks like a super aggressive M3, with only one interesting omission that they didn’t put a special Jahre badge on the back…but they sorted that on the interior
And then in the cabin here it’s still familiar M3 for the most part but with some special details and one big change to the dash
Remember at the beginning I said this 2023 was the LCI or facelifted version of the M3?
It’s hard to tell from the exterior, but it’s plain as day here in the cabin
What you have adorning your dash is now BMWs new iDrive 8 infotainment tech
We’ve covered this system in the i4, iX, and the new X7
The new system, like most new systems brings more buttons into the screen to clean up the design
This one, though, retains a lot of the useability by keeping things you use all the time right at your fingertips like climate controls
You also get bigger screens for your dash and infotainment scree
The graphics are new and awesome
And the system itself is quick and responsive
Overall, no complaints from me
But I also said this had some special Jahre details in here..
First of all the carbon fiber trend continues in here with a carbon center console that has a special edition placard
You also have th carbon bucket seats with some additional M touches
You get a carbon steering wheel
You get carbon shift paddles
AND you get some M color details in the rear seat headrests
And of course we mentioned the door sills get special treatment as well
And the rest of it is an M3 which means solid build, luxuries like heated and cooled seats, and the practicality of a useable rear seat and a nice trunk. So with that let’s get into the final thoughts - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I kinda want an M3 now as my new car, over the M4
Ordered the 2023 M3 comp (2500 down to get an allocation) it will take 6 mos to get my hands on. I had a C63 3rd gen (2014) and it was a beast too, maintenance was high but went to the other side to try out BMW on a 3 year lease.
Congrats! I ordered the M3 and also need to wait 6 (more) months for it 😂 What color did you go for?
@@Keitan97 Thanks! Arctic white with the white/black interior. Red calipers on bi spoke alloy and a couple of the optional packages. Did a 3 year lease so it will be fun to dog out. You?
did they mention any sort of markup? I'm looking to snag an allocation but hope it doesnt have some insane 30k markup.
My build is in process, I waited about 6 months for a white competition. No markup, MSRP was 82k.
I love those wheels
I agree with thr C63 but I’m ok with the new M for some reason I did not like the previous gen
I love it .
I just bought this car 1/500!! Now I know how it got 31 miles when I picked it up and how you drove it.
Ive seen like 1/500 everywhere so i don’t know how legit that is 😂
Very nice car
Why doesn’t the 2023 G82 M4 have ID8?
G82 lags one year behind G80 for LCI
@@Kingofpena I see, interesting
Mpower 💪
I'm so mad. I ordered an M4 and won't be getting the screens. Why does the M3 get them when they are essentially the same car?
Honestly, I prefer the older screen. With the new one they moved all the A/C controls into the screen with touch sensitive buttons which is super inconvenient.
dude you should be glad, those two screens are ass, look like sth out of mercedes a-class, two tablets no design whatsoever
Really AMAZING Car from BMW M3 competition just im gonna say
اللهم أرزقنا ياااا☝️ااارب
4:12 Unintentional pun or? 💀
We got the 1/500 at my bmw store it’s purple 🥵🥵
Suppose to ease and let it break in for 1200 miles.
This car is awesome, genuinely impressive. But that grille is a punch in the eye. I wish they facelifted it
They’re not going to facelift it. It’s the number one selling M3 of all time. So therefore it seems the vast majority of M3 money having and buying consumers disagree with you. I’m not sure why some BMW enthusiasts insist on every single BMW car to look the exact same in the front. Seems kind of boring to me.
@@BrettL250 i mean a product can be in high demand and still look ugly as fuck lol. I'd 100% own one too it's a great car, but I don't like how it looks. It doesn't even have to be the same as any other BMW, I just wish it was smaller and cohesive to the rest of the design
@@davidemartorana4708 perhaps you misunderstood me and if so, I apologize. All I meant is that looks are subjective. Also, no one is going to pay that much money for something they really feel is ugly no matter how fast it is. Obviously lots of people think it’s an excellent looking car and I’m one of them.
@@BrettL250 sure they're subjective, but all the people that like it (that I've heard) say things like "it's aggressive, it's striking" and not that it's actually pretty. Which is what I think. I don't think it's pretty or cohesive to the rest of the car, the lines of the front don't flow nicely imo like for example in the m5 CS. That's my two cents on it. The rest of the car is actually very good looking.
@@davidemartorana4708 I understand what you’re saying. I’ve heard the same thing from some people. I’ve also heard lots of people say it’s the best looking M3 they’ve ever seen. All I know is they have sold more of them then anytime in history.
These cars have a 1200 mile break in period. During that period it’s running on mineral oil with a detuned ECU. The break in is the most crucial part in maintaining longevity in these cars. Not cool at all
I sure hope that car has been broken in already, if not you just screwed it up. the original oil is not made the crap that you are doing to the car
No more carbon bucket seats
damn those two tablets str8 out of merc a-class are ass hope they aint gona put them in m4
they will next year
m3 or m4?
M3 for me personally
@@dwnshft hmm i see the new display in the m3 I like better then m4 but the rear of the m4 i like better then m3. also how reliable is the m3 engine? i don't know which one to get..
This was more of a 50 year badge review then it was a car review
The front grill is so ugly. Otherwise it is perfect.
