All the car we’ll ever need?! The new #BMWM M3 xDrive is very much a stealth option. You won’t see a single difference in exterior or interior design, and not even a single badge - very un-BMW! Almost as if M doesn’t want you to feel a difference. You can’t see any of the unique parts that comprise the XDrive #M3, so in typical RBR style, I’ll strip back the skin and show you what’s up!
The result is a BIG difference. This is the first-ever all-wheel-drive version of what is historically BMW M’s most important car. Customers are nervous enough already with the rear-wheel drive car thanks to the abandoning of the dual-clutch, the increased weight and the design choices. This extra if potentially makes things even more difficult for the traditional M customer, or maybe BMW M I pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Let’s find out today!
Firstly the RWD new M3 is already the king of its segment, a real #supercar with 5 seats. Yes, the front has a beaver face. We’ve seen car crashes with better design cohesion than this thing - I like the idea but maybe the execution could be less divisive. Regardless of that, it has a massive road presence with just the doors shared with a standard 3 series - we have huge rear arches, 4 series lights, staggered set up with 19/20 wheels for the first time on M3, and two big shotguns on the rear. Not ugly enough? You can get the M Performance Parts exhaust and aero pack. Please don’t.
The engine is a powerful 3-litre straight-six twin-turbo engine called the “S58”. It has parts that are 3D printed to reduce weight. Plus a Lightweight crankshaft, Forged pistons, a closed deck construction with a slightly larger bore and shorter stroke. All this allows it to rev higher to 7250 RPM. The XDrive comes with the ZF 8 speed only, in Competition spec! That means 510 BHP, 650 NM of torque and a super quick 0-60 of 3.5 seconds - let’s see if we can beat it with launch control!
The difference in 0-60 is more than the previous-gen M3 vs the M5. It’s literally a class or two above! All that is thanks to the XDrive, which is similar to the 340i but, this one uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the transfer case. To give Fully variable torque delivery between the front and rear. But compared to the 340i, it’s extremely rear-biased: Only on the loss of grip at the rear do the front driveshafts wake up. The reason for this we’ll discuss when driving. It also features a torque control system for faster adjustments and the clutch pack is a beefed-up version with better oil cooling. FYI The front differential is an open differential without an integrated mechanical lock. OF course, you get 3 traction modes including RWD only “drift mode”!
As a final touch, It also has its own front suspension and steering tuning and geometry over the rear-drive car, plus the engine’s oil system has also been upgraded.
As for weight, the standard M3 sits at 1730, which is heavier than the 1640 previous car (manual almost the same 1670)
The M3 xDrive weight is 1780KG, a mere 50kg more. Some of this can be negated by options, like the Carbon roof - 23kg lighter than the sunroof, Lightweight bucket seats save 10kg, and the ceramics at 13kg So not a lot of penalties, for what could be a lot of benefits. Oh, and there will be an M3 Touring coming very soon, as M celebrates 50 years!

When Taycan GTS test?
Remove Before Race, why is my positive comments being deleted 😤? What the heck‘s up with that? 🤔

Bmw the ultimate garbage machine
M3/M4 are too big and getting bigger every generation. I rather buy a CT4 V Blackwing in a manual
Word on the buttons comment. I agree. You shouldn’t have to go into a touchscreen tap it four times for one feature. Ridiculous.✌🏽Appreciate the review.
Remove Before Race, why is my positive comments being deleted 😤? What the heck‘s up with that? 🤔
For me, it depends on how good the voice assistant is. Mercedes and BMW have very good systems, so they can semi-afford to go touchscreen because you hardly need to use it on the go. Audi isn't that great at it, so no wonder all their latest cars (new A3, e-tron GT, Q4 e-tron, etc.) have re-introduced shortcut buttons, whereas the 2017-2019 new Audis went all touchscreen.
I have no issues with the iDrive I think it's the best I've ever had in any vehicle. Extremely user friendly. And the voice recognition is very on point. The gesture controls do get annoying if you talk with your hands to your passenger. Lol. That you can easily turn it off
Uh ya
Mega video mate, summed it up perfectly, especially describing the (lack of) trade off compared to the RWD 👌👌👌
Thanks buddy! Easy to see why you're loving it as an owner! Now... where is that Wagon...
Beats a carrera on track ?
@@dahabomahamed8104 what Porsche? BMW is the only manufacturer that makes fun and beautiful cars. We notice all the gold diggers jockeying for position when we drive by... chick's bend over for extended periods of time hoping the BMW driver only thinks with their figurative penises. No exaggeration, women do crazy things when they see an attractive male in a new BMW.... their thought process is as follows..."New sexy BMW, oh he's young, cute and got money...😍😍😍😍🎯"
so, the fwd comes in when the car is already oversteering toward a pole?
do they need to call "spyros panopoulos" to fix yet another balls up?
Considering the fact that BMW generally under report their power figures, the X-drive means some serious business. Make me proud, BMW.
I dont know about the m3 but i have usb in the front in my g20 330i. Its in the middle storage box(where your elbow touches). With the addition of a little gap under the cover, your cable doest stuck and you can move it around freely. Its brilliant
The new M3/4 are just too good to ignore imo specially with the xdrive would love to own the M3 at some point!
But I 100% agree on the interior Buttons are a must which is something I worry about with the new rumours on the LCI and the touring models apparently getting idrive 8 which literally takes away all the buttons..
Yeah I was thinking first about getting a macan gts but for the same price you can get m3 comp xdrive, which is a lot faster and more fun car.
Totally agree with you on the buttons, having to go into menu after menu to access fundamental things like temperature settings and heated seats is ridiculous and frankly dangerous
How is it dangerous? You shouldn't mess around with buttons and menus while you're driving, you should do it while the car is still only
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess Sometimes you need to change the temperature and adjust things mid drive. You really want people to pull over on the hard shoulder to change basic settings that should be able to be done through muscle memory?
Behind the scenes fact: I only made this video to make the Pokémon reference. What a time to be alive. 🥳
😂😂
Remove Before Race, why is my positive comments being deleted 😤? What the heck‘s up with that? 🤔
I’d like to see behind the scenes. Production team and process etc. you do great videos. Very professionally edited and great effects. If you do it alone I’d be very impressed. Have a feeling you’ve got some well compensated artists behind you.
How do you not have over 1 million subscribers? (It’s only a matter of time)
The quality of your video’s is second to none! Great job 👏
One of the best reviews of this car. Relevant information without geeking out too much or wasting time on things that most people don’t care about.
Great review. Love your description of buttons vs sub menus, absolutely nailed it. Btw I think there is a menu to see the power distribution :)
Brilliant! Loved your review of the "buttons". Spot on.
Just took delivery of my G83 last week. Individual Corsa Rossa with black wheels and interior. I got it to play with until my SL63 delivers in mid-May. Honestly, I like it so much as a GT car that I am having second thoughts about keeping the SL. Far better to drive than my old M4 GTS. I have something else for track and for trail, but so impressed that BMW has come back.
Dude are you hiring??
Keep up the good work Raziz, your reviews are always excellent 👌
Would love to own an M3 someday but after reviewing the M340i, I think that’s more than enough for most people. It still gets to 60mph in less than 4 seconds as well.
The quality and comprehensiveness of this video (and review) is hugely impressive. This is the first time I've come across this channel, and I'll definitely be back
this guy does one of the best editing in the videos.... that really makes it more intresting and informative
Thank you for a great review. I own the G80 comp RWD. Love the car and your review is on point.
Your reference about buttons and the future of EV with their touch screen and no soul driving experience.
The current cars in production will be sought after
Great vid as usual! I’m with you on the buttons as well. Thank you BMW!
The looks of the car is perfect the way it is, I love it and so does my son who bought one.
look at that ugly junk and then look what that money can give you when looking at AMG, alfa romeo, audi, ... my wife was in shock the first time she saw the front of a 4 serie and then couldn't stop laughing at the driver
@@Doa744 It's all personal taste mate, I like it, but don't like AMG's. You like them, that's the beauty of being able to choose.
@@urigeheadmot1196 taste is indeed something we can't argue about. design is however. but its true there is no rule you can't like somehing that is in design language bad.a few less chaotic lines would make the M3 such a beautiful car imo
The g80 xdrive is night and day faster/better than the f80, which was such a frustrating car to own - it could just never put the power down and actually had a clunky gearbox when driving normally....With the xdrive, bmw made a car suited to handle the extra power and weight of todays M3.... and driving an m8 and the m3 xdrive back to back, I really couldn't feel a difference in acceleration. The M3 is that good/fast - one of the best all rounder daily drivers out there.... (and for those saying the xdrive takes away from the driving dynamics - it really doesn't. you can still get the tail out and have some fun esp in M sport mode and you really only notice the xdrive when you would have crashed or straight line acceleration when you're not fishtailing going nowhere like in the f80).
I totally agree with you on the F80 - I just sold mine after two years of frustrating ownership. I think I'm going to look for an E90 x-drive as I just can't handle the looks - or the price tag - of the G80.
@@crujones5319 nice! and you prob did well on your f80 sale... if you're not crazy (like a lot of people) about the g80 looks, get it in all black. The grills aren't as noticeable and it looks mean, especially in person.
@@js002003 Yes I got nearly what I paid for it - the used market is crazy right now, made the decision to sell much easier. The G's are definitely mean looking on the street - have only seen a couple in person so far, and I'm in SoCal!
Also went from F80 Competition which I pretty much hated as a daily. There is literally NOTHING that the old DCT does better than the ZF in the G, but the biggest difference is in the chassis as the new car is so much better in everything
js002003 I disagree on the gearbox but understand if somebody wants to cruise softly, the torque converter might be better. But in ALL OTHER scenarios the dual-clutch is miles better, its much faster to react on both upshift and downshift and it is ENGAGING, which a torque converter never can be.
I had never problems putting my power down on my F80 Competition. The non--Comps did have that issue. I would choose a F80 CS over the G80 most days of the week. That was the ultimate M3 for me.
People like different things. I don't like the torque converter, I even have to say I hate it. It so much spoils the fun on a track or curvy mountain roads. On my test-drive I hit the limiter like every other time and I thought I changed in time. In the M5 you had to upshift at under 6000 to not hit the limiter in first gear. Terrible gearbox.
But one thing I love in the G80 is the interior, its so much an upgrade from the F80. I also like the front look of the car, live it looks really mean and nice. And those bucket seats are fantastic. If the car would have a DCT, I would probably have one now instead of my Taycan 4S.
Great review as always, thanks RBR 👍👍
Great work again on the edit ..! What a car but M4 for me 😉
Check the energy flow screen to see where power is going to which drive shaft. It is in the Driving Information menu.
Great video - I like the detail which is helpful, I have ordered the new M3 touring if I’m lucky enough to get one 🙏🏻
Awesome review and video!
Can’t wait to get hold onto one of these all black going for the stealth look
The 0-60 of 3.4 seconds is the slowest ive seen out of all the credible reviews, most are between 3.0 - 3 2 seconds to 60
i'm waiting mine.. 3 moths left, so i watch videos like yours about it every day. Can't wait.
Did you get it?
great video as always! Will you end up doing a video of the M4 comp X Drive???
Currently have the F80 M3 and I just can't get myself to get or like this one.. I've really tried, but that front is a deal-breaker for me.. reminds me of King Pig from Angry Birds... it might grow on me.. but perfectly happy with the F80 for now..
Just taken delivery of my Brooklyn grey m3 Xdrive absolutely amazing car brutally quick and the setup of the Xdrive is excellent great review one great car
I ordered my 2022 M3 competition early 2021, and the option wasn't available yet, and allocations were thin. So I loaded out one as much as I could, but couldn't get the Xdrive. I absolutely love the car, but when the LCI hits, I'm trading for that beast of a all wheel drive ultimate driving machine!
Love it great review again sir!!
Wow, love the part when you did all the animations and stuff, way different than the other car channels i've been on YT! liked and subscribed
It’s perfect, it genuinely ticks every box - I’m trying to view one in the next few weeks and fingers crossed
I love the look from day1
9:30 - 10:34 Nuff said! 👏👏 Best review
Great review Raz. I’ve been waiting for someone to explain how the xDrive system worked, and how the clutch system worked. Thank you for that. 3.4 isn’t as good as we’ve been seeing. I’ve gotten 3.08, myself. Completely dry surface, though and with Pirellis. It also launches better in 4WD Sport. Let’s also not forget that the Nürburgring time, for the xDrive G82, just became available. 7:28:57. Vs M5CS 7:29:57
Probably would have gotten sub 3.00 if you were running Pilot Sport 4s...
Fantastic review as always.
Perfect car. I hope to get this car soon as a secondary car.
Love the special effects!
Outstanding review. Got one and we love it.
BMW has been killing it this generation, especially with the M5 COMP/CS
Great review and I am in Love with this car!
Never liked M3 since the 80’s but this new model with new nose looks amazing, so BMW if want to lend me a long term loan car I’d be proud to drive and take care of. Many Thanks
Omg bro the m3 is beautiful and history sports car from old models (e30 e36 e46) all and e92 is the best v8 m3 ...the best model ..all m3 is amazing car but new with this super lights interior and fast machine is gun ...i think you dont know many thinks for cars if you dont like m3
@@fabio_7778 use to work for BMW years ago and hated most models as very unreliable but in recent years some models have grown on me especially new M3 which to be honest I love and can’t wait to see estate model.
The minute BMW put 4 doors on an M3 - nah, dead car. Compromised beautiful design for ‘practicality’ demanded by “Mondeo Man” aka boring losers who flex over child seats 🤣

Great video have been waiting for this one. Had mine almost 4 months now and it’s by far the best car I have ever owned
It looks sh*t mate.

looks so sick
100% agree on the buttons!
I think it looks awesome
I am ordering an individual M3 Xdrive - just can't decide on the color! Thinking Verde Ermes or Goodwood Green :)
10:00 hahaha spot on!
Was looking forward to this review. I would want this car in frozen Portimao blue metallic exterior and kyalami interior
Bring Bangle Back!!!
Portland, JAMAICA in The Building !!!!!!!!
nice edit brooo
My dream car 😍
Besides the horrendous grill, the car look amazing
No wonder your giving a load of attitude to the designers who are going interface madness . I would choose this car just on the fact it has buttons over another similar. Love it 👍
Those seats are gorgeous 😍
Managed to get a 3.2 out of my Xdrive M3
Well...I think there is an energy flow animation to show how the power is distributed (rear wheel/all 4 wheels). Does UK M3 miss that function?
Hi Raz great to hear M town bringing quality products to market. When is AMG announcing launch of the c63s and media day test drives. Actually just bought the rs5 sport back 2022, as no noise on the c63. Any high-level comments?
Amazing review as usual. Would love to see a review of the X3/4M competition too!
Remove Before Race, why is my positive comments being deleted 😤? What the heck‘s up with that? 🤔
The graphics are incredible! Really starting to like the design a lot more.
Awesome car and awesome review
Yes I'm going to miss the 1-8 buttons and the touch preview... I'm a 2016 3 series LCI driver. Though I'll be keeping my 3 ( fiancé said she will drive it) I have an i4 M50 on the way this summer. Still hope to own a proper M car one day or heck, just to even drive one. Or an AMG. Great review as always.
Dont understand why so many ppl hate the big grill, i personally think its best looking grill ever, it looks mean & agressive af (i mean look at 5:58, its awesome) and further more sets the BMW,s front look apart from any other car.
Best in class for me 😍
I like big screens and touch controls, but I also need buttons for essential things, there's a reason why even on Tesla you get a button for the emergency light. It's just faster and more accurate than a screen.
Great video
How they Change cars ??? I never seen anyone done this What program or how its crazy good
What a Beast

Just ordered mine.
got a like just for the part about buttons, made me remember to like it

What does steering feeling has to do with wether it's rear wheel drive?
Insightful! Catchy NBA inspired musical intro.
love how u blur the kmh :)))
This up there best bmw m3 review and plus is xdrive.
great video as usual just.
I love the front end on the three and four series
I think this is the best bmw ever made in the last ten years
It's absolutely fantastic and with that 6 speed manual option it's just a dream
For me better ones are the F80CS and M5CS and maybe M2CS, too. 6-speed manual with 510hp and 4wd would be the ultimate driving machine. DCT of course, too but that's never going to happen again 🙁.
I cant believe how much better it looks compared to the previous gen, a completely different beast
I can't believe how ugly it is!
do you work for bmw ? lol
Hi, I saw that Taycan 4S is coming next. How about I4M50 and maybe comparison between these two. Price category is different, but power specs are close each other..
I've actually grown to really like the front end. It's kind of like the LFA in the sense that it aged extremely well with time. I think the same will hold true with the G8x, between the aggressive front end design, buttons in the interior, and its power-speed-handing.
the LFA was beautiful since the beginning tho
@@AB-fr2ei it’s an interesting looking car more than beautiful
Is the X-Drive better than the Quattro? How do they differ?
Front end looks great, actually.
Buttons! Yes!
Would always keep to the RWD version. The proper traditional M3 recipe.
or you could just get the xdrive and have options to switch between xdrive and 2 wheel drive! its a no brainer to get the all wheel drive version, better performance when you want it, and when you want to go crazy, you switch it into 2 wheel drive to have some fun!!
Why don’t you get the manual transmission again? I’m a Brit, but live in North America, and automatic is dominant here, but the manual is available.
Is it actually 4 wheel drive...or 2 wheel drive with a Rear Bias...and front drive when needed..?
