Yes They filter air but an individual plant actually outputs minuscule work on a room. Youd need TONS to do significant improvement in air, so much so that it wouldnt really be practical since now theyll just always obstruct what youre doing, even perhaps block where you walk. They look very pretty tho, and that can alleviate stress/anxiety!

Hi Erin! I a hamster owner in China and I've learnt so much from you since the day I decided to get my furry!
Most Chinese people don't have the access to CZcams. So some of our friends decided to set up a subtitle group, to translate and upload CZcams hamster videos on a Chinese website called bilibili.
We won't use any of the videos for commercial purposes. And since your videos are so imformative, we really hope you can allow us to translate them!

I once (along time ago) put a medium sized spider plant in my hammy cage and she absolutely DESTROYED it. She dug all the roots up and had dirt everywhere. It was a disaster. But one thing for sure is she had LOTS of fun that night, lol.

I use straight up soil that is organic, I use one of those half cut cork logs for a entrance and plant cat grass and wheat grass to help keep the soil together. Pikachu loves it he digs multi chamber burrows and tunnels. you do need to let the soil dry up a bit and you can water the grass with a mist bottle. I want to build him a bigger one. and before I get hate, He dose have a whole other box connected with the plastic tubes to another box that is all bedding.. its two diy big enclosures the biggest plastic ones. =)

Hi...nice video. I bought some plants in a very small version.. also this one. I cover the pots with exotic cocos pieces so they are hidden wich looks nice. I put a piece of cardboard under them to providing the bottom of the cage from soaking wet. Not that it is getting wet because i use that little plastick bottle that i am using for coloring my hair. After good cleaning ofcourse. With this bottle it is easy to give your plants only a little bit water. Just enough.. whitout making everything wet.

Hello Erin! A few days ago I got a pot of "hamster oat and millet seeds for planting"
It comes in a pot and when you open it, there is only pure substrate (no added chemicals) and seeds. So you grow it (and never put in your hamster's cage) and give the weeds (or grasses?) for them to eat it after 8 days.
It seemed like a good idea and I'm doing my research before using them with my hamster.

You would need to ask on a mouse forum, Ive never done research into mouse safe live plants as I know they wouldn't last around Zinc :)
Question on spider plants, can they do what ever a spider can?
Also do they how much light do they need. My room is north facing and doesn't get a lot of sun light.
While they prefer a lot if indirect light, they do normally tolerate low light levels very well. As long as your room isn't really dark then a spider plant should be okay :)

You can also give them bamboo as it is a type of grass 😉

Hi Erin, I'd love to include some live plants in my hamsters setup but I'm a bit worried that having excess moisture from watering them would cause mould to grow. Is this something to be concerned about or should I not worry? Btw love your channel! :)
I HAVE had mould grow in my mice's cages. The best way I've found to prevent that is just to make sure nothing is sitting on the wet soil. no bowls, hides, decorations, etc. on wet soil, and just keep an eye on it.

Are ferns (boston ferns in particular) safe? I have one in my room with my hand and sometimes the leaves fall off. If it isnt safe for them I'd like to move it to another room. I cant ever seem to find info on it.
What are your thoughts on bioactive setups for hamsters and mice? I havent seen anyone do one, but I think it'd be so interesting. They could even hunt down the insects, and it'd eliminate cleaning almost entirely, much like reptile bioactive enclosures. Do you think its possible?
Clean up crew is something that is problematic cause of the poop. But take this with a bag of salt cause most likely i'm wrong :D

Do you have a video on safe woods for hamsters? I'm trying to diy toys and want to use some backyard limbs lol cant find any info on of a pomegranate tree limb is safe.
I have been wanting to use soil as a substrate for my hamster (and that would be needed for adding plants too), but I have been unable to find any soil without fertiliser...even the organic soil contains natural fertiliser such as cow manure. I have avoided it, but do you think it would be safe for a hamster to have in small amounts (like in a potted plant in the enclosure)? If not, is there a way to sterilise soil from outside myself?
natural fertilizer is not bad. natural ertilizer is things like grass trimmings, leafs, bone meal, bloodmeal, fibers of plants, minerals etc. u just dont want chemivals
Hi... I'm finding mixed information about putting marigolds in my hamster cage... Some sites say it will make the hamster sick, while others say they are safe... Can you help me with this please? Can i use marigolds?
I assume we should use a soil that's suitable for vegetable plants? Or are potting soils generally safe?
General potting soil is fine, though if you use something with added fertiliser I would recommend putting a few pebbles around the base of the plant so your hamster doesn't shove their nose into it :)
