David Ruffin had a pure voice. And he put his heart and soul into his songs. And he's one of the reasons why The Temptations were very successful. We miss you David and will continue to honor your memory. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
AGREE 💯💯💯
David Ruffin put so much heart and raw passion in his music. I don't hear his music, I feel it. I'm moved and captivated by his sultry baritone, his sweet falsetto and his piercing screams. There are baritones that compare to his but not one has his versatility. I'm well aware he was a character and had his flaws and some will never forget or forgive that but you can't deny he was one of the best that ever graced the stage....
So good and true
A sad yet awesome singer/performer…
He was truly BLESSED 🙏
The beast are often tortured ⚔️😞
Ain't no one can replace David Ruffin , he and Eddie kendricks were my all time favorites🙏💔
What about Dennis Edwards he was especially to talented and a real pro at his Craft, I don't think we can ever even come close to the mighty Temptations or the Stylistics or The OJAY'S, and Sly and The Family Stone,
In 1975,
he had a last major hit called,
“Walk Away From Love”.
Thanks For Watching
@@WBPTV the only reason he changed his name to his is because he was arrested for child abuse I don't know its a big ass mystery about this so called son of his
Substance Abuse had destroyed so many lives. Rest In Peace David Ruffin through your music legacy will live on
sad but true
David Ruffin had a big hit during the mid 70’s, “Walk Away From Love”.. It was No. 1 and the biggest hit of his solo career. I love that song!
Me too, showed his incredible range ❤️
Indeed, the performance at Soul Train with this song is so special
Ain’t Nobody Coming To See You Otis 😂😂😂😂 I Love That Part
I fell out laughing when saw the movie he said that .. OMG
Shit...he was only bein' honest! 😅🤣😂
😂😂
That's right Otis whatever you say Otis 😆
I love that part .... and when he turns around and ran to the car my daughter said he gonna cry when he get in the car I had to laugh but I Loved the Temptations
So handsome, very difficult life. What a singer, I miss David. Thank you for this video.
David Ruffin, a singing voice you can always listen to, the best, the best, the best.

The Greatest Soul Singer Ever

@Linda Hines 😂🤣😂yes he was!
David Ruffin was a classic and tragic example of how having a rough childhood really dictates your outlook forever downward. Nobody ever fully heals from those scars. Rest In Peace, Ruffin.
*rough childhood
I had the same up bringing maybe worse than Ruffin . Comes a time to stop blaming others and take responsibility for your own actions.
Ruff was a one-of-a-kind talent. He gave the Temps “their voice.” In their super years 1964-1968 the Temps probably never would’ve achieved their success. It was during those super years that help put Motown on the map.
David Ruffin is my absolute favorite Temptation. Since l wear glasses, I’m partial to this singer anyway. Rolling Stone has hailed his voice as one of the greatest music voices of the 20th Century. He is deeply missed by me.

His voice was mesmerizing..
Thanks For Watching ❗️
YASSSS! 👍
So many things were misunderstood at that time.. he did the best he could with his struggles. An amazing, beautiful talent. Great video 💕
David Ruffin is the best singer I admire the most his voice was so powerful no wonder Marvin Gaye loved Ruffins voice.
I'm so proud and honored to be facebook friends with his son David Ruffin Jr... David Sr was the epitome of smoothness... Yet his raspy voice was so soulful and strong... Rest in paradise big brother ✌💗

1 of the greatest vocalist of all time. The dude needs his own biopic about his life
David becoming a Temptation, was one of the best things, that could have happened to the group, at that time!!!
The emotion David put into his singing made everything he sang very believable, he was
one badd brother! He gets heavy rotation in this household. He made you want to wear
some eyeglasses!

I am enjoying this series so much. These are the heroes of my youth. So sorry for the difficulties they all had but their performances were outstanding.
"I'm gonna walk away from love "!!!!! Just listen to it !! Still bumpin' it in 2020!! A true legend!! His music will always live on!!

What about Dennis Edwards, a very talented musician with beautiful focused qualities, very difficult to duplicate!
The tempts is only a group in search of a David Ruffin 😂😂😂.

“And without him, huh, The Temptations ain’t nothin’ but a group IN SEARCH OF a David Ruffin!”
One of the greatest voices in the Motown sound. Its funny that he was going to write a tell all 📖....
Thanks for watching !
Our only hopes is that Martha, Mickey Stevenson, HDH members and a few other write a tell all. As Gordy is one of the most powerful men on the planet and he's not telling on his self.Mary Wells was the biggest female.artist out during the My Guy period and got blackballed when she left the big M. Couldnt get her records played after she left. The under promotion of David Ruffin after he questioned Motown's book keeping.tactics and him for.ever.being in the dog house is another example.Stevie and Marvin wrote their material.and were not affected as much. But if you were an artist that depended on your material being.written. U had.a hard time after leaving Motown. Gladys, The Four Tops, And the.Isleys were the exception to the rule of course they got even bigger. While mainstays such as Martha and The Vamdellas, Marvelettes, Brenda Holloway had issues.The. tell all after.the demise of Gordy will be interesting reading. I purposely omitted Miss Motown , we all know who that is.As a book coming from her would be one big ass lie.
Eddie Hendricks blue and David were the voices

You Killing It With This One
I want to go back to that time and save him but he wouldn’t have listened! Sad end to such a great star, such a great voice ❤
David was a handful but neither any of the original lineup were a walk in the park. On a sidenote, in the movie Otis never shared his heavy drug addiction to complement the overall fact for the movie to make him look good. But legendary group to the fullest.
Thanks For Watching
Nobody was perfect but when you start missing recording sessions and shows you’re fucking up the money not just for the group before the band.Play Time is play Time but when it’s time to show up at work you get up do it.You have to credit Otis for keeping the group together at least any replacement he had to replace none of them were bums.
@@daffyduckfan4478 I can agree that his drug usage created problems for himself and the group and as much as I hate to say it he probably made the right move. I do however think he was demonized in the movie. The story could have been told without making him look so badly and without distortions. This man has family....
@@aj.mcgowan5593 ... How was he demonized?
Notice Otis the only one left he wrote the movie to fit his narrative
He was a TRUE talent which is rare everybody throws around the word artist and very few ACTUALLY deserve that title ..Just a shame drugs took over. and of course NO ONE helped frfr 😓..R.I.P YOUR TALENT AND INFLUENCE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN 💯💪🏼🙏🏼❤️💔..
And as for MOTOWN ! Berry Gordy and that whole record company was BS most of all those artist were fucked out of money that Berry pocketed! Aretha Franklin’s dad was smart for warning her to stay away and she did which is why she was always successful! ..
I remember reading about Aretha and she received her pay most times in cash and kept it with her during her performances, Actually that I think 🤔 is probably the best Idea!
NAILED IT . I ADORE YOUR TALENT YOU WAS DEDICATED REGARDLESS OF WHAT DEMONS YOU HAD TO FIGHT YOUR VOICE AND TALENT WILL NEVER BE "UNSUNG TO ME" YOU, PAUL OR EDDIE

Incredible story
Yes, he had a great voice when he was part of the Temptations. But that was a good thing. It doesn't excuse him from beating on Tammi Terrell. Beating someone, there's no excuse. He beat her many times.
Thanks For Watching ❗️
@@WBPTV No one is trying to excuse his behavior. Everyone knows he struggled with his demons...
Then marvin gaye came along and snatched her up
Most men back in those days did that. I do not condone that act especially being a woman. Nevertheless, most men did hit their women. I think they didn’t disclose that with most of the men.
James Brown also beat Tammi
The narrators delivery puts me to sleep no disrespect. Also this is read from word to word. I'm thankful for the information but the voice and delivery is dry as a dessert 🌊🌊 💦💦💦
Great Story❗️❕
My favorites songs are: Common man/ My whole world ended/ Statue of a fool/ Pieces of a man/Rode by the place/ In the cool of the night/ So soon we change... And i was bron in 1986

He left us today, 1/6/1991. 33 years ago. Rest in heavenly peace, David. He was really a good person 🙏❤️😢
David's Ego got him more than the dope I think for not the ego maybe not the dope?
Thanks For Watching ❗️
I was a Temptations fan, bought all their Albums. David didn't inderstand that "Temptations' fans, were "Temptations Fans"! That was such a magical, music, time. Excessive Ego, is a destructive, damaging, element. Too bad, their music, talent, and stage presence, was pure magic!
I'll never forget his vocal on Pop Was A Rolling Stone. What an album!
Bo Rood the original track " Papa Was A Rolling Stone " was Dennis Edwards not David Ruffin. David was not a member of the Temptations. So is there another version that feature David Ruffin as the lead singer? Thanks
It was Dennis Edwards......
@@rexxgarvin5313 Right man Dennis not Donald, my mistake,
@@borood1188 Atleast you are interested!!! Its a Good Mistake! Go deeper into the Temptations, and their evolution in Music, it's deep! They went from one level to another! When Dennis Replaced David, another sound came from them. Different from the 60's sound. Their 1970's Jams are Fantastic! Listen to Shakey Ground from the Song for you album!!
@@rexxgarvin5313 Thank you, man. These oldies were a classic album, you can't beat that sound.
If any of David Ruffin's family out there, David is up there with Michael Jackson, Prince, Patti Labelle, Whitney and Mariah! If he were alive today I would hope to be picked from the audience and serenaded till I grab my Pearl's! Who is Otis?🤔
Thanks For Watching ❗️
There was a temptations before there was a David Ruffin he was a great entertainer far as Ruffin beating on tammi Terrell that's unforgivable and unexcusable always be noted as a great entertainer
Thanks for elaborating on his temperament, because hitting a female is never acceptable, If you have to hit some one to inject fear into them or manipulate them by using force, there is a special place in HELL, the same goes for abusing elderly, handicapped persons or children! No forgiveness ever!
Long before bias became the norm in groups today, there was David Ruffin.
David's children should have sued Otis because the mini series was based on his book
I love me some David Ruffin....RIP
Thanks For Watching ❗️
I also love David ruffin rip
My Favorite Temptation
David, Eddie and Paul--so so great.
Fun fact David Ruffin sung in The Voicemasters alongside, a then 16/17 year old, Melvin Franklin before Melvin would join Otis in making The Temptstions
Rip Love your voice
That was EDDIE that took Motown to task for miss handling the TEMPTATIONS finsnces.
I love David Ruffin's voice, ♥️ I used to see my girl to my daughter when she was a baby
Loved David but Eddie was my favorite

David and Eddie they made some great music in the 80s. Oh and of course the 60s

Eddie Kendricks !!!
he was my favorite singer and still is to this day my favorite songs are the double cross my love is growing stronger and just let me hold you for anight and break my heart and so soon we change i have just about all of his records bye his self and i was trying to record him
As humans we all have our faults and demons. Being a superstar magnified anything David did. Regardless of what anyone says David persued and mastered his career. Despite the Jim Crow era David, The Temptations & so many other artist prevailed. That in inself proves David Ruffin was the greatest!!❤❤🎉😊
Such happy beginning to end up in such a sad ending : DRUGS WILL DESTROY A HUMAN MIND 💔💔💔
Motown review my man

My favorite lead vocal of any group. Well outside of Michael with Jackson 5.

Drugs. Is. So dangerous. Even today in 2023 May. God. Have mercy on us ‼️🙏🏾🧿🎵🎶🙏🏾
So wait that part in the movie is true! Lol man I wouldve loved being in the audience when David crazy ass jumped on stage grabbing the mic from Dennis lol
For what are you sime type maschocist and love to see pain or something? That type of behavior serves no purpose. Someone who would like to see this is sad.

Good story but you left out his biggest solo hit walk away from love from 1975 the songs he lead with the temps the singles my girl. it's growing .since I lost my baby .my baby .ain't too to beg .beauty only skin deep. I know I'm losing you .all I need loneliness made me realize it you that I need. I wish would it rain .I could never love another after loving you his solo recordings my whole world ended the moment you left me .i lost everything I ever loved .I'm so glad I fell for you .each day is a life time .you can come back to me .blood donors needed bad bad give you can.a common man. no matter where you are walk away from love .heavy love .everything coming up love. on and off. just let me hold you for a night .your my peace of mind . break my heart .I wanna be with you maybe someday someone will do a movie on him to tell what really happened not Otis side
Thanks For Watching ❗️
@@bobwatson1162 My whole world ended was originally intended to be a temps song but it was shelved at the time but when David went solo they decided to used it thats why I like his first three solo albums the most because they still had that classic 5 sound to them as a alternative to the new psychedelic sound that temps had and nothing against Dennis he was good but everybody didn't care for his voice style it took a while for folks to get used to Dennis they both were great just different styles

As a Black man living during the 1960's, this is personal to me. David was a great lead singer for our culture's top group - The Temptations. Motown put together a team of songwriters just for them (Dozier, Holland, Dozier) Every song released was great, topping the R&B chart constantly year after year, after year. They were a huge part of Black culture. Then David's abuse of one of Motown's iconic stars (Tammi Terrell) shook-up Motown (he beat her more than the one incident here). Then David's ego and cocaine habit caused him to get kicked out of the group. Which shook-up the whole Black community nationwide. For those reasons, he lost support from the black community (socially, and professionally). He never had another hit record after his one and only solo album with Motown. We are greatly appreciative for the joy he gave us, but saddened by how it ended. He was only 50 when he died. To the producers of this piece: Don't present our stories so cheaply. Hire a professional narrator and editor
Thanks For Watching I’m only 22 years old and I do everything by myself I’m trying to work and get different people to narrate but I can only do that by the channel growing
Hey young brother, I think you are doing a wonderful job. You don’t need to hire anybody, save yourself some money. Everybody has to start somewhere, as time goes on, you will get better, with time!
