    The draw bar should remove from the shaft on your tractor after unbolting some nuts and bolts
    You should be able to install a ball hitch receiver
    This will prevent the trailer from lifting up
    The stabling stands are still a good idea

  • @briant2045
    @briant2045 Před rokem +4

    The stabilizers are designed to only be used when loading equipment and the trailer is in the lowered position. Using them when dumping causes torque / stress to the trailer in ways that the manufacturer did not design or engineer the trailer for, the stabilizers would be mounted to the frame if they were designed to be used while dumping. If you received an owner’s manual with the trailer it probably says not to do what you are doing.

    How do you feel about the stability of the telescoping cylinder extended up and dumping in spread mode on rough terrain?... that's the big thing I'm curious about.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Shouldn't be a problem, the cylinder is not technically supporting side to side movements, it's actually a loose fit. If your bed is rigid, it's the rear pivot points that's truly supporting side to side motion.

    I believe the stabilizing legs are for when you load and unload equipment using the ramps. They keep your trailer from picking up the back of your truck and in some cases when on an incline it can disengage the parking brake causing you to roll down hill. I do not think they are for when dumping the trailer. Not 100% sure because I don’t own a dump trailer. Great video btw, just found your channel and enjoy all of it so far!!

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před rokem

      That's exactly right, I do discuss that point.

    • @MrExNavy
      @MrExNavy Před 4 měsíci

      Eric you are 100% correct. The stabilizing legs are not supposed to be used except to load heavy equipment. Using them while dumping can cause them to dig into the ground and get torn off the trailer. I drove truck for over 20 years and pulled every kind of trailer you can think of, hauling every kind of material you can think of including all kinds of over size loads and hazardous materials, explosives, food, produce, dry goods, and everything in between. Those stabilizers should not be used except to load heavy equipment so they keep the trailer from lifting the tongue off the hitch or lifting your back wheels off the ground when loading the equipment. You should also never disconnect the trailer from the hitch while dumping. Very dangerous to do that.

  • @markb.1259
    @markb.1259 Před rokem

    Seems like there's one too many times you have to "touch"' the dirt/grass to move it. #1- Loading it, #2- Dumping it, #3- Moving it into the grass line. How do you eliminate step #3?

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před rokem

      Buy a trailer that's so top heavy and tall it dumps it without pulling forward. Those don't exist 😉

    Andrew, i have a similar situation with a Deere and a dump trailer, never got a good look at what you put the ball on. did you use a draw bar? if so, did you modify it so a 2 5/16" ball would fit through one of the holes?

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před rokem

      I made my hitch, it's 3x3 inch 3/8 thick angle iron steel. I welded in a 2 inch receiver hitch into it. I have a solid hitch that can be flipped for a 2 inch or 2 5/16 ball.

    I don't understand why these dump trailers are ALL struggling to lift there weights...after researching hydraulics, it seems to me if the manufacturer spent another 4-500 dollars enhancing the lift capacity...id feel better spending 10 plus thousand dollars on a lift trailer, rather them giving you just enough to do the job to save money
