  • I present the sharpest watch in my collection- the Santos de Cartier. It has the most elegant design, exquisite detail work, and the longest running history of any men's sports watch. It just doesn't get much better than this!
Reach out if you are looking for a good Cartier AD. I can get you in touch with the AD that sold me mine.

I've been in this hobby for about 1.5 years and had the opportunity to purchase the blue dial version about 5 months ago and I love it. The sport and dress elements really make the Santos a unique watch in my opinion. You nailed that bezel drawback right on the money. Right from the start I babied the watch. I know it is a sport watch, but because of its beauty and charm, I just didn't to put any unnecessary wear on it too soon. 2-weeks into the honeymoon period I start to notice micro-scratches on the bezel. I don't know how they happened, I didn't hit anything, and nothing but my micro-fiber cloth even toughed the bezel. lol. Again, just micro-scratches, so not a really big deal but noticeable in the right light. Great review as always Bruce!!

When you wear a polished watch for a few years, all the little scratches fade into each other and looks perfectly fine. It just becomes a less shiny surface, but you can't see the scratches anymore. Had the same with my Omega and Baume & Mercier watches. Just give it time. Look at vintage Rolex Datejust cases and you get the idea.

Was that Clair de Lune I detect? Both are iconic watches and are worthy of being part of any small collection but if I had to choose I’d keep the Overseas. Ironically, I’m one of the few remaining people who actually wears a suit everyday and the VC is much sportier than the Cartier. Additionally, I’m a traditionalist and the Santos has remained relatively unchanged for over 110+ years while the Overseas has been through several relatively large makeovers since it’s introduction in the 70’s. For me, I think it’s the beauty of the Overseas, the exclusivity of VC it’s subtle Genta-like features and it’s overall wearability for formal and informal occasions. Either way, both are great watches. Wear the Santos in good health.

Great video and excellent review of Santos de Cartier, the watch looks beautiful and elegant, doesn’t look to me as a sport watch, is classic and elegant and with modern touch but, keeping the tradition and history from Cartier from 1911 and from his brother Santos Dumont, from 1904.

Cartier sud make the 'ML' version with 38.0 x 45.4 mm dimension to entertain the goldilocks 39-40mm round watch equivalent. Thanks for the vid, man.

I'm a retiree and I can't afford to buy the real Santos. I love this watch so much that I ordered a fake from China. (I know, I know). I don't wear watches anymore but I just want to hold a Santos in my hand. Real or fake. I love Santos watches. Nice presentation.

I completely get your love for the Santos. I tried one on a few weeks away and it shocked me how good it was! I ended up buying a skyflake the same weekend but If I had to start my collection again, id just have the Santos and Skyflake as a perfect 2 piece collection

What is your wrist size? I am hesitant between the large and medium santos! Looks fantastic on your wrist!

Compelling edit and photography which sustains the interest. I have the medium Santos de Cartier in bi-metal. I love the curvature of the watch. It perfectly sits and 'holds' on my slimmer wrist. I am still at the 'baby stage' but my feeling is that the 18k Gold bezel can be given just a brief gentle rub (not polish) weekly and any slight marks will be barely noticeable.
The Santos is a keeper for me - I have one gripe and that is I am unable to purchase the additional multi-colour alligator straps....Covid and or the UK Brexit is apparently preventing convenient import of the straps. (My patience is wearing a little thin as it is one of the big selling points of the watch.)
