The reason Emmet Otterton knew about the night howlers when he was going savage was because he worked as a florist. His job is to sell flowers, so he knows what night howlers are.
It's funny how the city is called Zootopia, which suggests all types of animals live there, but only mammals live there.
Not a lot of other animals show as many markers of intelligence. It could show some avians or cephalopods though. There's a reason I don't like to eat squid, octopus, or use any of its relatives unless offered to me; there's also a reason I wouldn't eat certain birds unless needed.
@@mr44mag gators/crocs and large lizards have shown a lot of intelligence. Raptors and parrots are also very smart and interesting animals.

I always liked how this movie handled the concept of prejudice. It feels its symbolism covers multiple versions, and lands sufficiently outside of human examples to not apply directly to one specific version. Which means it can explore thought provoking situations without being tied to direct comparison.
As an aside, I always wondered if Flash is speeding because, he loves speed... or because he can only pull his foot off the accelerator so fast

Cheif Bogo is a waterbuffalo, which lives in Africa. The reason Bogo was made into waterbuffalo was because they're unforgiving which fits with his character.
Mr. Big is an artic shrew and they are really aggressive despite being tiny as a mouse.
I've picked up and handled many rodents in my life, we had so many of them on the property I grew up on, and in the house and shed... Shrews were the only ones that BIT me, they're little shits XD

41:11 otters are HORRIFIC. Certain studies in the past recorded very disturbing behaviors from them. But hey they look cute in kid movies and zoos.
The scene on the train cart with Doug mixing the serum is a reference to Breaking Bad. Also, the other two rams Woolter and Jesse is a reference to Walter and Jesse from the same show.
On a side note, there's a hint of the link between Bellweather and Doug, when she helps Judy and Nick with the traffic camera system, there's a post-it on the computer that says "Call Doug." and a phone number written on it. Also, Doug is at the press conference pretending to be a reporter to add gas to the flames by asking her the questions he wants her to answer which would start the whole be wary of predators going savage deal.
Apparently Doug’s last name is Heisenberg

Makes sense that Jumbo Pops would cost 15 $ cuz they're HUGE, the right size for an elephant. Bet that different bigger animals get more paid as their sizes means that they need to eat more, having bigger clothes, bigger cars, bigger apartments etc. while smaller animals gets less paid for the contrary.
Well yes taxes and prices bases off of size in zootopia mice pay more in taxes but pay $40 for a car meanwhile elephants pay next to nothing in taxes but pay $14 for a popsicle at least that’s the fan theory
That would be an excellent example of social equity. Everyone gets paid what they need in order to be on the same footing as everyone else, rather than just giving everybody the same amount of money regardless of circumstances.
Otters are technically predators as they prey on fish and clams. Pure preys are strictly vegetarian such as cows and rabbits, though there are prey who are predators as well, like snakes prey on rodents while they themselves are prey to for example hawks, hedgehogs and owls. Guess that the reason reptiles and birds weren't included in the movie to make the prey vs. predator easier to follow as otherwise it could get confusing.
Cows, rabbits and most other herbivores are facultative, which means they will prey on other animals and/ or eat eggs and carrion if and when the opportunity arises i.e., they are NOT strictly vegetarian and can sometimes be predators themselves.

For what I heard at the beginning of the movie, only mammals are the ones that are evolved, fish, bugs and birds are still regular animals, I think there was a fish restaurant where Judy came to Zootopia, so I suppose the meat that predators eat are fish and bird meat
Mr. Big is a reference to the movie "The Godfather".
Speaking of wolves and instincts, there have been several CZcams videos where they play this scene and their dogs howl to it (as well as when Link Wolf howls in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess). The fact that Judy makes them howl by imitating howling is also a realistic thing as when humans imitate howling, their dogs howl as well.
Fun fact: Idris Elba is a huge fan of toy story and wanted to be woody so playing the “sheriff” in a Disney was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up

I would'e LOVED to see what made Bellweather the way she was. I'm guessing that since many predators are in power and often the victim of racism, her negative experiences with them were hidden/discarded since it's unwanted attention.
I did research in the name Judy Hopps and her name is similar to 21 Jump Street. The People who wrote Zootopia never heard of 21 Jump Street but the character Judy Hopps has practically the same same as Judy Huffs from 21 Jump Street. Someone on the team must have saw that show. Really love both Zootopia and 21 Jump Street.
Chief "Buffalo Buut" is a Water Buffalo
Interesting way for a movie to tackle something like racism and the reveal at the end, "a wolf in sheep's clothing" comes to mind since she ended up being the big bad.
Speaking of that expression, at the end, at the police morning meeting, when Bogo sets three policemen for undercover work, a wolf police dons a sheep costume as a visual pun to the saying "a wolf in sheep clothing".
Also, a character that was cut was a sheep who would disguise himself as a wolf as an ironic twist on that very expression.
First time I watched this with my nephew he fell asleep and I watched it all been watching it since. I love this movie. He still hasn’t saw the whole movie 🤣. I also wanted to say I enjoyed you on your own but I love y’all together as well and I typical dislike couple reactions because the typically the one who came second gives this energy like they don’t like the movies or are being forced and it destroys the experience. yeah otters are some scary animals! they eat meat and are amazing hunters which makes them predators. also giant river otters can be almost 6ft long!

Though otters are very adorable and can be friendly in zoos. They are still predators and Wild otters can be very aggressive. There are plenty of videos of people being attacked by otters. Not to mention there are clips of a bunch of otters attacking crocodiles in groups

53:40 Zootopia is my favorite Disney movie (outside the MARVEL ones.) It teaches kids not to do drugs. Something I find sad is that the animals stereotype one another and prey have that mistrust to the predators because of what the predators did to there ancestors. That is a real issue in real life. A lot of people today have that fear and mistrust towards people of other races because of what those people did to there ancestors.
