For all the people commenting on making the vehicles weigh the same (last time everybody complained they didn’t…it’s impossible to please everybody), the numbers at the end of the video were offered as both laden and unladen, so you can see the timing differences there with no additional weight.

Watched this first hand in NSW on M1 incline south bound out of Orimbah.
This guy in his 79 has been following me for ages, then out of the blue he rounds me up on full noise weird.
Then I spotted the Mahindra rounding him up on the far right lane, followed them up seeing the Mahindra disappear over the rise well in the lead.
Young fella in his 79 must have felt so demoralised, bet he doesn't share that story much.
Everyone I know who has the Mahindra's love them and say how they'll not buy Toyota again. Farmers, Tradies, Station owners whom says his staff will only get Mahindra's in the future.
V8 fan boys struggling when it's being clearly laid out in front of them so clearly, the V8 rumble makes them think they're quick, reality showing just how utterly useless they are so hyped up, they're a thing of the past, 4 pots will do it all better. Both the 2.8 and Mahindra prove that.

As much as I love your comment I'm going to be the devil's advocate and say that even though the Mahindra is definitely the pic for me. With very minor modifications you can get much bigger numbers out of the V8 and that extra power certainly makes a difference when you're in demanding situations such as climbing steep soft sand dunes loaded full of camping gear.

Hi Paul. I have a 2021 Mahindra Pik up single cab, 2wd. Completely stock standard, on factory wheels and tyres, and I think it will leave that LandCruiser 2.8 for dead. I live in Fairfield NSW and we have lots of brand-new Hilux and LandCruisers around here who are always keen for a bit of a drag race and they can never keep up with the Mahindra. As for the Toyota V8 - such a pointless car, a complete slug.

  • @Adam-7_7_7

Handicapping only works if you match the power to weight ratio. This means stripping weight from the Mahindra ( removing spare tyre, removing passenger seat, and the tray i guess ). You have a V8 v a straight 4, which is unfair.

Horses for courses. The V8 is built with a purpose and that was to fulfil the needs of industry hence the weird stuff with the axle widths and whatnot. The Mahindra on the other hand has a long heritage in agricultural background. Neither of them are performance or comfort oriented yet it's pretty plain and simple to see the value in a cheaper vehicle and a more expensive vehicle. It just depends on your needs. If I had enough money sure I would love a nice big V8 and some overpriced mods but I'm not made of money and the Mahindra fits the bill and does everything I ask of it and then some. You want to spend 80k on a Toyota Go for it I'd rather spend 40 and have money for fuel to take my family out bush and get away from people losing drag races when I'm in my Mahindra😅

Yes I bought my 76 to drag race mahindras. Such a pointless idea. Why does everyone think the v8 is meant to be a sports car. It’s a v8 because they can make 4cyl power with half the stress and double the oil capacity to last decades not because Ferrari puts them in the cars

The new Landcruiser 70 makes the Mahindra look like the better buy. The interior of the Mahindra at least looks like it has some options. A farm tractor interior has more options than the 70 series.

On a farm I’ll drive one only if I have to They are the most uncomfortable vehicle made. We managed to go most places in the land rovers 1950s a 1960s 70s Holden Ute and a heavy right boot could get through most mud. If in remote areas and 3rd world countries I would prefer the Toyota. But value for money and bit more comfort I’ll go for the Mahindra. It also depends on what job the vehicles are used for.
