Thank You Retro TV and CZcams for bringin back lots of fond good memories, just can't put a price on that. Funny how a show can suddenly bring up good warm and dare I say happy memories of miserably cold Canadian winter nights & hot creamy cocoa and snacks in the living room, fire burning and watching this here show with my family. There were other favorites like Gunsmoke, Movin On and The Rifleman and when those shows were on in the evenings well hell they were literally events for us kids and we made darn sure all our farm chores were done early on the nights that our favorite TV shows were on. We had 3 TV channels and each channel change had me dashing outside to turn/tune the TV antenna a wee bit, in -30 January weather I got pretty good at looking at the TV through the window and quickly getting the TV antenna tuned haha good times, no, they were great and simple times, no shit we got by well in that tech-leaner era!
About 35 minutes into this episode, after Twirly Boggs said Hoss and Joe were the Slade boys, I forgot what the Slade boys looked like so I went back to the beginning. The larger Slade had a full beard while the smaller one had a mustache! Too bad photos weren't around then.
Landon never wanted any new characters introduced into the cast of the show. He went to Dortort to get Guy Williams to leave, that's why Guy was only in 5 episodes. He also had a specific vision for the show and the direction it was going in, so it was said that he would become difficult and delay the shoots for various reasons. He wanted to take total control. I know people thought Landon was the bees knees, but I never liked him. He wore lifts in his shoes to make him look taller, loved to display his chest (nothing spectacular about it) and stuffed the front of his pants in the later seasons.
@@McClellan71 I heard David Dortort express the difficulty working with Michael as time went on. He acknowledged is creative"genius" but seemed to imply Michael and hijacked his creation. One reason Dortort turned his efforts toward High Chapparel.
The American comedienne Whoopi Goldberg said during her act many years ago, "You haven't lived until you've seen _Bonanza_ in German." She then turned her back to the audience, then faced them again showing a big 'Hoss Cartwright' grin on her face and said, "Paw," --followed by a stream of German. Whether fake German or real I do not remember.
Fun to watch actors having fun playing cowboys just like they were still kids.
