Hello sir, is necessary to have MBA to work in sales department for fresher with 1-2 years of experience.
What if one does his Executive MBA after gaining an certain experience.
And what qualities does organisation look after if one do not have MBA degree.
Thank you.
I am eager to hear from you soon.
Hi Ninad, very good question.
If you have 1 or 2 years hotel experience + a graduation, you can join sales with a some preparation.
There are intakes as sales or events coordinators / executives in many medium sized hotel companies.
I agree with you that it will be a good idea too to take up an executive MBA program with some experience.
To start preparing for an interview for a sales coordinator, you must learn about these few things:
1. Understanding of customer relevant to the business. Who they are, where will you find them, how will you attract them etc. I have covered some of these aspects on my market segmentation videos. I am making some more relevant videos too.
2. Learning how to use MS Office tools such as Word, PPT and Excel on day to day basis. If you can learn some advanced Excel features such as making pivot tables, making charts, creating dashboards, will be good. You can watch and learn through many tutors on you tube. I have learned a lot from them too.
3. Prepare your CV in a way that projects your qualities that will benefit the company you are applying for. Read the job description carefully and match your expertise to their needs. Your CV should stand out in a pile of a 100 applications.
4. Prepare well for the interview. Remember its an examination so you must rehearse all the probable questions by answering them loud out, recording them, improvising them. Rehearse in front of a mirror and always keep the smile switched on.
5. Grooming, appearance and confidence in delivery the last nail. Do not over dress but try and remain in blue and dark grey shades. It helps in projecting a positive personality.
Some skills that must be highlighted - patience, listening skills, empathy, ambition, optimism, bold in making decisions, thinking before acting.

Sir I'm hospitaly graduate. Can I join in this department as a starting entry position without bba and mba in a initial stage ? Please guide sir how to apply like apprenticeship or ojt or something else? Mt!!
Yes you can. Hotels are looking for smart graduates too for entry level roles. Compnaies like IHCL have a Sales Executive Development Program that develops you to become a sales executive in one year. Else you can apply for sales coordinator role too. Since these openings are not too many, you will have to keep looking out a bit.

@@alaricarodrigues8817 please send me your CV. Lets start from here.
Is the sales department dominated more by women ?
I think that marketing department is more dominated by women, but sales is dominated more by man. In general women are better in promoting and editing, and men are more skilled in negotiating. Of course there are individual exceptions, but if we look at statistics then it shows these facts.
One more question ..Is hotel sales job a target based job.
Yes, hotel sales roles like any other Sales role are target driven. There are good incentives on meeting targets too.
