    • @underthepale
      @underthepale Před 9 lety +17

      Snore Lax How do you know that wasn't their plan in the first place? She's clearly independent and outspoken, possibly already marking her as a gender traitor. See how freely and openly she offers to help Harry- an act that, while arguably just, could also get her suspended too. This is badthink. She had to be eliminated. Making her into a bullet shield was the simplest way to do away with her while maintaining plausible deniability.

    • @frankschneider6156
      @frankschneider6156 Před 9 lety

      MacNille
      Actually none of his movies terribly impressed me. Not sure why. They were ok, but i don't get why for example the wild bunch has such an iconic status. The wild bunch was pretty tame compared to many spaghetti westerns and preceded it and it certainly doesn't have the class as Once upon a time in the west, Django or The good, the bad and the ugly.
      The Getaway was fun, but Osterman Weekend, Killer Elite or even Convoy ?
      If you want good movies have a look at John Carpenter's Escape from New York , Assault on Precinct 13 or The Thing.

    • @MacNille
      @MacNille Před 9 lety

      Frank Schneider His later work is way weaker, but his eariler work is amazing. Also, for its time the wild bunch is brutal as fuck.

    • @frankschneider6156
      @frankschneider6156 Před 9 lety

      MacNille
      I've seen most of his movies. For me personally they are rather mediocre.I mean they are mostly entertaining and not bad or anything, but especially with the Wild Bunch i was pretty much disappointed. The movie is ok, but in my opinion never lives up to the legendary hype that surrounds it to the slightest. It may have been quite brutal for a US western of 1968, but compared to some European Spaghetti Western that predated it, it doesn't seem that brutal to me. Actually i wouldn't have a problem my 7 year old son watching it.
      I'll take Django, Once upon a time in the west or any 60s or 70s Eastwood western any time over the wild bunch (except maybe for Paint your wagon).
      It seems, that his movies simply don't meet my taste. I'd be happy if i could enjoy them more. I personally feel that Walter Hill's work (up to lets say the mid 80s), which is imho somewhat comparable, is far far superior. He had one stroke of genius after another from 75 to 84. But that's probably simply my taste again.

    2:36 What I love in particular about this scene is the fact that Harry dodges by moving his head TOWARDS the shotgun blast when he would’ve been just fine holding still.
    Filmmaking error? Or the holy power of Clint Eastwood’s majestic quaff? We report, you decide.

    the only place you can get this unambiguous "good guy beats up bad guy" type of story these days is superhero movies. they're the one genre still unafraid to fuck up scumbags.

    I enjoyed The Enforcer but the first two films are my favorites. The very first one is the very best IMO.

      Wolverine was inspired by Dirty Harry. They could do worse than have Dirty Harry played by Wolverine.

      IA. I just can't think of anyone else off the top of my head. Now, the Escape From New York remake I feel ran into trouble because, even though Gerard Butler is a fine actor, as Kurt Russell said, Snake Plissken is American more than anything else. And thanks for the info. I never knew Dirty Harry inspired Wolverine.

    Anyone see that video from Donut Operator where two female cops are in a coffee shop and a guy pulls out a knife and one of the female cops goes running out the door screaming, leaving her partner and all the other people in with the armed man? Yeah, there is a reason women shouldn't be cops.

    I didn't think the Enforcer was better or worse than the previous 2 films. It was not as long as Magnum force but it wasn't "quite" as silly either. Not as much action but definitely entertaining anyway. The original Dirty Harry clearly was the best written of them all (loosely based on a true story).
