  • I delved into the video archives and found all the footage I recorded of the time I sculpted my butterfly inspired Ganymede fluke for making mermaid tails. I also have notes on tools and supplies that were used to help create this beautiful monster.

    Wow! That looks absolutely amazing o, o
    How long does this whole process take? (I'm just curious, because of all the details it looks very time consuming)

      Hi Caitlin, for this sculpt I used pottery clay because I was very used to its particular challenges. I was a potter for years fore making mermaid tails.

    I recently learned that the Feldspar in pottery clay has small amounts of sulfur... how did you manage that when casting with silicone?

    how do you get your clay not to crack?

    • @MermaidAmatheia
      @MermaidAmatheia  Před rokem

      I work really fast, I don't give the clay any time to dry to shrink and possibly crack. Something that may help if you are experiencing cracks wth pottery clay: put damp sponges beside the edges on your sculpt then cover it all with plastic.
