- Take a flight on the B-17 with Max and Tom and then Stuart breaks the model down afterward
The B-17 Flying Fortress remains one of the most famous allied bombers of WW2. Although it served in every theatre of the war, it was in the European Theatre of Operations (ETO) with the renowned 8th Air Force in particular, that this sturdy and well-armed heavy bomber flew its way into the history books.

Building on the success of our original HobbyKing "Memphis Belle" model we have redesigned this huge 1875mm wingspan warbird and now bring to you the best flying and best-looking rendition of this iconic heavy bomber available anywhere in this size.
Our fantastic model is simple and fast to assemble right out of the box with all of the servos and ESC's pre-installed. It is made from EPO foam, so it's as tough as you would expect and as the one-piece wing is removable, it is also very practical to transport.
The pre-fitted electric scale wheels retract forward like the real aircraft and are large enough to tackle almost any surface. There is also plenty of power on tap from the four upgraded 850kv brushless motors. Counter-rotating props make zero torque, smooth take off's, the order of the day and with pre-fitted split flaps, landings are also stress-free.
But it's the attention to detail on this version that is impressive. Panel lines have been reduced and two new accurate scale color schemes are now available. Olive drab/grey and overall silver. These two schemes represent the vast majority of B17's that went into action and as an additional feature, we've also included a choice of two 8th Air Force decal sets for each color scheme as well as an optional chin turret so that you can create either an early "F" or later "G" variant.
As a Flying Fortress, our model also bristles with guns, with top and ball turrets as well as tail, nose, and waist gun positions. Dummy Wright Cyclone engines are finished with three-blade counter-rotating scale props and hubs and finally, working navigation & landing lights add to the overall realism level of this impressive model.
Beneath the surface, our B17 has been beefed up with additional wing bracing and of course, she has been test flown extensively and it's in the air that this model really comes into its own.
You will be struck at how easy it is to fly, almost like a powered glider at times and even though it's more than capable of performing non-scale aerobatics including loops and rolls, it is at slower speeds that it looks every bit the heavy bomber.
With its impressive wingspan, low passes translate into a real presence in the air and the sound of those four props driving it forward just adds to the experience.

Chin Turret = Perfect FPV camera housing!
I have the version with the yellow rudder, this plane came with all the graphics factory applied, a big plus.
The bombardiers bubble is a perfect place for if you want to put a camera in it
very nice to see that you guys are starting to thing about the guys with the bad landing strips and improve the retracts on the newer models...very cool...this field looks bumpy enough, so its pretty close to ours here and i have to say the B-17 made a good impression, great looking model by the way...nice work guys, cheers
Great looking plane. Have added to to buy list
what a beautifully scaled model, nice job
I was going to ask the same question.... On sale for less than 12 months and been Out of stock for months????
Nice to see you are going to do the RAF paint scheme. Not many people would have known the B17 was used by allied forces too.
Awesome plane!
wow very nice hobbyking
Interesting. Looks a lot better than that Lancaster V2 nightmare. I am interested in Coastal Command scheme.
I will follow reports on RC Groups before I decide to place and order.
So Great stuff!!!
Thanks so much!
Brilliant , please bring back the Mosquito
Yeahh 4 props sounds as Good as it akes you bit back in WW2 !!!!
Does anyone know if Stuart ever did the Coastal Command repaint video clip.. I;d like to see how it turned out.
"panel lines, they were like trenches before" :D:D:D:D
Can I get some help on the correct CG--the manual shows 38-45 mm, (1 1/2 inches) and the picture shows measure from the nose (cant be right must be centimeters)
Also what is being used for the battery(s) hold down-nothing came in the box---
15'' TO 18'' for CG .15.5 to 16" is the sweet spot. Check out this link for battery mod for adding battery tray www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1463141&page=461
What is the type of battery connector for this model?
Awesome to see you are coming with improved version of old great models. Are you coming up with a new DC-3 yours is one of the best out there but is been discontinued. I just received today the DC-3 white kit. I know people love it but complain about the non scale nose that should be shorter and rounder and some of the cockpit windows, some should be short and other should be a little bigger. I am not that picky but for sure I would love to get a newer improved version more scale looking. LOVE the silver colors. Oh I also bought 2 a complete Komet ME-163 a two white kits. You are discontinuing this one too, are you coming with a new version of the Komet too?
Just the B-17.

Does anyone know of this will come back 2020
No but it will come back in 2021 ;). Stock is on the way to warehouses at this very moment. Stuart
Can you transport it to Malaysia
Why is freight so High. I would like to buy but not when the freight is so high.
So what would it be to Australia???
you like my work 5 years
I dont want, I need one. Theres room in the garage lol
Tom sure knows his war birds
After spending all that money it I'm now left wondering, why don't you label the motors instead of making it so I have to buy extra equipment to figure it out before installation? Mine also came without any instructions. Pretty disappointing. The piece look cool at least.
Too bad they don't sell it anymore and I've never been able to get a replacement chin turret..
The best B-17 I've seen in foam just sucks hobbyking sells it if and when they want to.
Needs to be sold by someone else who sells parts for it instead of a handful of parts .. sad .

But its a FOAMIE don't like them
Why not, ... anything in particular???
I like Balsa constructing I feel it is more rewarding than having it a.r.f....
Think about the price,Mr. Price when it is a balsa constructing..... ;-)
Think of the satisfaction you get after all the time you put into it & the joy you have in building it [ patience is a virtue my friend ] try one !!!
Youre right,i know what you mean.I build a balsa kit also. But when i get my calculator and put all the singel parts together.Wood is amazing stuff,i like it.But the chinese plane´s are pretty cheap....
