The B-17 Flying Fortress remains one of the most famous allied bombers of WW2. Although it served in every theatre of the war, it was in the European Theatre of Operations (ETO) with the renowned 8th Air Force in particular, that this sturdy and well armed heavy bomber flew its way into the history books.
Building on the success of our original HobbyKing "Memphis Belle" model we have redesigned this huge 1875mm wingspan warbird and now bring to you the best flying and best looking rendition of this iconic heavy bomber available anywhere in this size.
Our fantastic model is simple and fast to assemble right out of the box with all of the servo's and ESC's pre-installed. It is made from EPO foam, so it's as tough as you would expect and as the one piece wing is removable, it is also very practical to transport.
The pre-fitted electric scale wheels retract forward like the real aircraft and are large enough to tackle almost any surface. There is also plenty of power on tap from the four upgraded 850kv brushless motors. Counter-rotating props make zero torque, smooth take off's, the order of the day and with pre-fitted split flaps, landings are also stress-free.
But it's the attention to detail on this version that is impressive. Panel lines have been reduced and two new accurate scale colour schemes are now available. Olive drab/grey and overall silver. These two schemes represent the vast majority of B17's that went into action and as an additional feature we've also included a choice of two 8th Air Force decal sets for each color scheme as well as an optional chin turret so that you can create either an early "F" or later "G" variant.
As a Flying Fortress our model also bristles with guns, with top and ball turrets as well as tail, nose and waist gun positions. Dummy Wright Cyclone engines are finished with three blade counter rotating scale props and hubs and finally, working navigation & landing lights add to the overall realism level of this impressive model.
Beneath the surface our B17 has been beefed up with additional wing bracing and of course, she has been test flown extensively and it's in the air that this model really comes into its own.
You will be struck at how easy it is to fly, almost like a powered glider at times and even though it's more than capable of performing non-scale aerobatics including loops and rolls, it is at lower speeds that it looks every bit the heavy bomber.
With its impressive wingspan, low passes translate into a real presence in the air and the sound of those four props driving it forward just adds to the experience.
Our B17 is a scale pilot's dream model. It's a big airplane that looks great, flies beautifully and definitely has the "wow" factor that will have heads turning wherever and whenever you fly it.

Watching your reviews of planes always makes me smile. I live in California. I just started flying again because I have a lot of time on my hands because of kidney cancer - I had to medically retire from the fire service as a fire captain at the end of 2017. I am flying with my youngest son and we are having the most amazing time. He is learning to fly on a Carbon Cub and I am flying an Eflite P-51 Mustang 🐴. Love watching you guys. I want to come to Slovenia 🇸🇮 and fly with you. Promise!

The B-17 is hands down the sexiest bomber of WWII but I'm biased. I just love those lines. I adopted two Beagles from my local animal rescue league 10 years ago now, I named the male "Memphis" and the female "Belle". Both dogs have been as tough as the B-17 itself ;) still going strong. Loved the maiden of the silver one, very excited for the maiden of this one! Much love from the U.S. my brothers!

Ha, one of the first V2's I worked on bringing to market during my HK days, and one of my all time favorite HK foamies. You really could teach someone to fly on this thing, its a real floater. I still have one in box waiting for an RAF Coastal Command scheme, I should really get around to that...Love how much you love it Robert.

SEXY ! ! I totally agree with Doug Wagner, Hobby King Has to put the Petrincic Brothers on the payroll, or at least send them the greatest and the latest of all you planes for their review. They are the reason my son (27), and I (63), purchase H-king planes and products. These guys are a riot, and know their stuff at the same time. Payroll and send them all your new stuff, including prototypes to get everyone excited and ready to purchase when they do come out. JUST DO IT...!

I bought the same model mine is the Memphis Belle I had to paint the bottom Gray just got it together last week it's hanging in my hangar sounds great cowls were a little difficult holes won't line up without jamming Motors have to make your own holes 2 adjust for Motors

Believe me my friend that you will really love it.
It's a fantastic model - I maidened mine a couple of weeks ago. The Zippy Compact 5000 30C 3S Lipo from HK is a perfect tight push fit into the battery compartment (no cutting of foam, no strap or Velcro needed) and gives easy 10 minute flights with >20% remaining. You can do a few simple things to improve the appearance even more like painting the various black mouldings/servos/horns etc. to match the grey/green and painting in the exhaust manifolds on the wings. I also fitted a small/cheap Hobbyking retract for the tail wheel on mine. Flying is fantastic but it does tend to pitch up a bit with throttle at low speed e.g. straight after takeoff. No big deal, and in normal flight it isn't really noticeable. Don't have a forward CG if you fly off grass or it will try to tip forward. Mine is balanced right in the middle of the range they give and is fine in the air and on the ground. PS yes the props are the same as the Bush Mule (but the Albatross ones are different) :-)

That's a great looking model. You know I had to go with olive drab for my B17 from FW. So many people love watching it fly. I know I'll enjoy seeing you fly this one as much as I did the silver Liberty Bell!

I have one of this plane and I can assure you it’s amazing!! Try to replace the stock propellers for a tri blade Master Air Screw 10x7 and it will rock!! Salute my friends!!! Maybe a 25 or 30 amp ESC will be better.

I have two of these planes in silver and love flying them. They are fantastic plane to fly. ive been flying model aircraft since 1986 and I have to say that this Hobbyking B-17 Flying Fortress is one of the nicest flying planes ive ever owned. Good luck Robert with the maiden flight when the times comes. This plane is something else.

As you know its a nice plane. Make double sure the motors are secured very well with the set screws. If not, they will spin and ruin the wires/short the motor.

Pilot Robert I wish you luck. Captain Blaz, it is just a drawing..... FYI - The props are the same as the Bush Mule. I bought one late last year because of your videos on the second hand plane. It is the silver one and I built it to be a replica of my father's B-17 he flew in WWII. I suggest that you put magnets on the ball turret. I did it on mine and it stays in very well. I have flown it three times and never landed on the runway. Each time the ESC quit after about 30-45 seconds. I have tried two batteries and a single battery split into two and it just keeps happening. I only hope yours work better than mine....
